I think it's a combo of factors, kid diddleing freeks in the news every day, leading to paranoia, not that that's unjustified. People just not doing it anymore, I live in Tennessee now, and the houses are crazy far apart, but even in my grandmothers neighborhood where they are close, we only got like five trick or treaters last year ( the last one got loaded down.) lazy kids, I never went trick or treating with my parents, and me and my friends would probably do 10-15 miles in a night. But now days ya just don't see large gangs of kids roaming the streets at 3 am, hell I wouldn't be shocked if its illeagule now days. And a lot of malls, community centers, and downtown areas do trick or treat things for little kids that are " safer". Plus it just seems everyone is so damn preoccupied with not being offended, offensive, or scared they just lock themselves in and hide from life.

Halloween month continues as the heroic super heroes known as the Kamen Riders battle the hoards of the Undead. Does this series shine a light on this undead catastrophe or should it have remained buried? Watch to find out.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about:
https://www.facebook.com/KaijunoKami...22664694502317 Hopefully the link lets you look at the pictures and the videos I took. This is down right awesome. We were on our way back from a haunted house and accidentally found this street on our way home. AMAZING!! Not just that, but it seems like on Halloween the police block the street off and the residents do a big party and one of them even has a tour of their house that they said up as a haunted place. We're going to try to go back on Monday to see this. The only thing missing is layers of fog.

Halloween H20 - To think, the original Scream was ripping off Halloween and paying homage to it. H20 pretty much rips off Scream but puts Michaal Myers into it. Curtis is really the only reason this movie works because it has little to no suspense, music that does not fit the mood or situation, a horrible set of ever changing masks for Michael, and a terrible voice impersonation of Loomis for the opening credits to be found in this whole mess. Why didn't they just take the audio from the original movie? Well, at least it's an improvement over the sixth movie even if it isn't all that great. At least it doesn't hae the Thorn crap. I give it a 6/10.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - The only version I have seen of this story before was the one with Daniel Craig, which wasn't terrible, but it was pretty forgettable. Unfortunately, I thought I had bough the original version, or rather, I thought this version was the original version, but it wasn't. Anyway, the movie was pretty good with a lot of really interesting camerawork, use of sound, and Sutherland did a fantastic job. Jeff Goldblum was Jeff Goldblum, but I guess he hadn't established his schtick at that time yet, so whatever. The plot is really interesting and the execution of the pod people is a lot different than I had anticipated. There were some areas where the movie did slow down and it probably could have been 10-15 minutes shorter, but it is one I know is going to get better with each viewing like a ton of the horror movies from that time period do. For the first watch I'm giving it a 7/10.

So far this month I've watched a few classics again like the Evil Dead trilogy, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but unfortunately I've been just too busy to cram in more so my horror cravings will undoubtedly spill into November which is normal anyway.

So with every major horror franchise having been rebooted in the last few years, mostly with shit results, does anyone think we'all see any more Jason, Freddy, leather face, or Michael Myers flicks anytime soon? I expected the Friday the 13 th and Freddy reboots to have sequels but it's been a while now and it just seems the big continuity based slasher franchises in horror have been replaced with haunted house/ ghost deamon, amaricanized japanese grudge rip offs. And junk that looks like it was filmed on a security cam. |

What? Halloween 6 is great, and Paul Rudd is a national treasure! Compared to Halloween resurrection H20 and part six look like The Godfather. Didn't they make one after resurrection, but before the rob zombies ree tool? It must have been bad because I think my mind has literally blocked it to protect my fragil sanity. But yeah the thorn thing really put a monkey wrench in the franchise, I never really got the point. Like, weapon X was trying to recruited Myers ? Why and when did he get a tat? Hasn't he been instatusionalized sence he was 8?

And junk that looks like it was filmed on a security cam. The others though haven't done too well box office wise. The NOES reboot bombed, as did the last Rob Zombie Halloween flick, and while Texas 3D had a so so showing at the box office (and was surprisingly entertaining) news on the future of that franchise has also been scarce. The slasher flick as we know it is dead, and I think it is just a sign of the times we live in, and horror films are currently seeing another shift. Slasher flicks were at their most popular during a time when the US was being stalked by the serial killer epidemic of the late 70s to very late 80s. Found footage movies were popular at a time where it was becoming more and more easy to get your hands on a camcorder, and seem to be on the way out as well (as evidenced by the poor showing of the last Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch films.) While ghost flicks still are popular, they too are slowly being replaced by the "random violent strangers in masks" type films like The Purge, Hush, and You're Next, which seem to echo society with the sheer amount of random acts of violence we are seeing today, (and is partly to blame for inspiring all this stupid "killer clown" copycat nonsense.) While I have no doubt we will see Jason or Freddy on the big screen at some point, unless there is some interest in the genre that sprouts up from the general public, I fear our favorite masked killers will end up like our friends The Universal Studios Monsters. Great and iconic horror characters that Hollywood simply cannot figure out how to make entertaining films with. That said, I took some advice from one of my biggest fans, Leslie Vernon, and get in some time at the gym before Halloween this year. Power walking after sexually healthy teenagers is tough, so remember to work on your core, and cardio, cardio, cardio! Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 10-29-2016 at 06:06 PM.. |

At least I can have fun with how bad Resurrection is (it is the second worst in the franchise with the theatrical cut of the sixth movie being the absolute worst). Zombie's movies suck because he humanized Michael and went for as much shock value as he good in a tasteless way. Quote:

I'm honestly tired of this. How about erasing the second movie too and just making it so that Laurie was not Micheal's sister, but he just went after her because she stepped on his property? It was actually announced during the summer that it was pushed back until 2018.

The Neon Demon - This was by far the most visually stunning, shallow, unimpressive movie I have ever seen in my life. It was all style and no substance. To make matters worse, the last act of the movie just turned into some random crap and went for shock value rather than executing a proper story. In fact, there really was no story to be had for the main girl serves no purpose whatsoever. Nothing is learned. There is no development at all. Hell, if you were to take out all of the slow motion sequences, the freeze shots, and the zooming out camera, this would barely be a half hour long. This was a total waste of time. The acting was stiff and everyone took themselves way too seriously. Don't even waste your time with this mess unless you want to watch a virtual artbook that features great music for 2 hours. I'm giving it a 5/10 because it was halfway to being a movie.

This year's jack-o-lantern. For awhile I wasn't sure if I was going to do one this year because there aren't that many movie posters as easy as Alien or Halloween but I landed on The Thing.

That's fuckin awesome. ^ anyone else just not feeling it this year? I'm trying, but I just can't get into it, sure I'm going to take the kids out tomorrow, but for various reasons I haven't sat through a whole horror movie, seen any cool new decorations, or just been generally inspired this year. I don't even have a costume plan yet!

All I've done besides the pumpkin is watch movies, my street stopped getting trick or treaters a few years ago because my house is at the top of the hill at the very edge of the suburbs so the entire street is apparently considered out of the way. Last night I watched American Werewolf in London again, it's still great and among my favorites.

The first 4 Halloweens definitely have suspense and atmosphere.
Anyway, I finished my Simpsons THoH run and only have two episodes left to the third season of Tales from the Crypt to watch tomorrow. Unfortunately, I completey forgot about Psycho, so I'm not going to be watching that this year (at least for Halloween, will probably watch it in Dec). Tomorrow my plan is Trick r Treat and another viewing of Halloween before we head out to that block I mentioned earlier in the week that actually celebrates Halloween. I did watch a movie I picked up earlier this month called Black Sabath though. Boris Karloff is one of my favorite actors of all time, but even he couldn't save this movie. It wasn't down right terrible or anything, just kind of mediocre. The first story, "Drop of Water" was really damn good. It was entertaining, it was full of suspense, and the production values were incredible. Easily the best of the three. "The Telephone" was the name of the second story and it was pretty weak. The editing in it was quite bad at times. There is one scene where the girl calls a friend and the screen goes black, returning with her friend sitting on her bed. WTF? Then another right at the end of the movie where the girl pulls out a knife and there is this huge jump cut. The ending doesn't make sense either because if the dude was a ghost, how did she stab him? Finally, the third story (which the movie calls Vampire while the title on the back of the BD case is different) went on for way too long. There were some enjoyable moments, but it ultimately fell flat and was kind of dumb. Another issue I had with the movie is the audio seemed to be out of synch with the video, which was kind of annoying at times. The worst was during "The Telephone" when the girl is talking to a neighbor with a dog as none of his dialog seemed in synch with his mouth movement. The video of the disc was very impressive though outside of a few moments where it got blurry. Overall though, I'm giving this one a 6/10. Not sure I'm going to keep it as when I want to watch an anthology movie I have Dr Terror, among a few others, to watch.

Halloween Month concludes with a look at the night the filmmakers tried to do something different. Season of the Witch was a box office failure due to the lack of Michael. Was this movie justified or were people just immature? Watch to find out.
I forgot to tell you that I shared your pumpkin on Facebook.

That's fine, I was willing to post it here so I certainly don't care if it floats around Facebook.

Halloween - 10/10
Trick r Treat - Love this movie. There is a reason it is on my top 10 horror movie list. The stories are all great, the plot twists rock even after having watched it sevearl times, and the music kicks ass. Also, Sam is adorable. A 9/10.

'Nuff said
I decided to watch Young Frankenstein last night instead of another actual horror movie because I was just in the mood for comedy and Gene Wilder is always terrific.

Since I tricked you into watching a review of Halloween III first, here is your treat, Halloween II. :-) Does Halloween II joins the ranks of another mindless sequel or is it as good as the original? The only way to know is to watch this review as I bring Halloween month to a close, for real this time.

So the final movies for the night were a bunch of indie short films called Motel London, Motel London 2, and Night Mutilator. How were they? Well let me put it this way, the first one was the longest 17 minutes I have ever sat through. All three of them were awful as there was no semblance of a story, no character development, no suspense, tension, anything. I won't knock it on acting since these were short films made by nobodies, but my god, Nostalgia Critic has better production values and actors than these guys for his skits. In good conscience, I can't even bother giving these guys a score.
I also finished the third season to Tales from the Crypt today. Finally, we went back to that area I talked about last week and I made a video of what was happening there along with all of the decorations. For obvious reasons, I couldn't record the haunted house one of the houses made, but it was quite fun for a homemade thing. And awesome.

I know it's Xmas, not Halloween, but:
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Let's begin our Christmas celebration with a look one of the movies that influenced John Carpenter with Black Christmas. Is this cheaply made slasher film a gift to horror fans or does it need to be returned to its sender? Watch to find out.

Hey as a bonus Christmas horror goodie the first trailer for Alien: Covenant has arrived! The knowledge that NECA is already working on figures for it gets me pretty hyped.

The horror of Christmas day continues with a look at the 2006 remake of Black Christmas. Does this present day adaptation fit in nicely with the original or is it a lump of coal? Watch to find out.

After two highly profitable sequels, Paramount decided it was time to kill Jason off for real this time. As such, they titled the fourth installment "The Final Chapter," for it was meant to be the end of the series. Is this climatic battle a magnum opus or just another piece of forgettable trash? Watch to find out.

This is the only thread where the news would be relevant that unfortunately George Romero has passed away.
