Not bad. Man, if Venom had an alternate had with an open mouth and the long tongue coming out with drool on it, that will be bought on sight. Other figures are maybes for me.

Spider-Gwen? Sheesh...How about a regular Gwen? Or a proper Mary Jane? You could even make one figure with swappable heads and parts like they did the Chameleon and hit them both out of the park.
I can't believe it took nearly 20 years...but it's awesome to see we are getting a PROPER and PROPORTIONATE Venom. No crazy, oversized hands. No gigantic underbite or crazy professional body builder proportions. No stupid gimmicks. Just Venom. I hope they at least add a Brock head, and maybe one or two sets of hands, but even if the guy comes out the gate as is...I'm happy... I'm guessing Absorbing Man is the BAF? Or another figure we haven't seen yet...Hmmm... |

I think beside the whole wave, the best part of this is the Silvermane head. I mean how awesome is that.

Morbius looks amazing, but... why do they keep giving us that costume? Why not give us the blue leathery costume he had in his own series in the 90s with the purple wing-like cape?
Venom's looks good. Jack O'Lantern is cool, I guess. Spider-Gwen is pointless to me if she doesn't have an unmasked head. What is up with Wasp? Man, Hasbro just needs to make use of those wings, don't they? Ben Reily Spidey is meh. I would have rather had Noir or Miles. Absorbing Man though? Since when is he a Spider-Man villain? Why not do someone like Kingpin instead if they want to do a non-Spider-Man character? Where the hell are the actual Spider-Man villains entirely though? Okay, fine, they have Venom, but how about the classic villains? At least a Doc Ock, Mysterio, or Sandman would be nice. Oh hell, how about an actual comic accurate Electro?

FYI, there was a Star Wars display. It was only the Force Awakens Stormtrooper and a sign saying "Reveals in Hasbro Star Wars Panel".

Aaaah, as a MU/MI collector I am very jealous. That Silvermane's head accessory is such a nice touch for Superior Foes fans!

Well the Venom is proper for McFarlane era. The whole open mouth with sharp teeth and drooling tongue was not until the Erik Larson era. I knew we would get Spider Gwen and not a regular Gwen. God forbid that we get normal Gwen, MJ, and Peter Parker?? There are not a lot of characters I would ever want out of costume, but these would be them. (And a Norman Osborn head now that we have a suit body)
Most of this line looks great but I would have loved a classic Beetle instead of the current one. I would have loved the Midnight Sons era Morbius more myself , but that is not Spider Man era Morbius. Plus Morbius basically went back to the classic outfit since the end of the Midnight Sons era. |

The best bet for a "normal" Gwen or MJ would be the idea mentioned earlier: Make it a multi-head pack that could swap out and be MJ or Gwen (and maybe even Betty Brant if they want to do the Blonde, Brunette, Redhead trifecta). Even then, it'd likely be an exclusive somewhere rather than a mass retail release (Bonus if they make it a multipack with a Civvie Peter Parker. "Girl in Dress" ain't exactly something the kids are likely to get excited for. While Hasbro may be aware that adult collectors are the primary audience for their 6" lines, the retailers still want a product that there's at least a CHANCE Mary Jo Soccermom will pick up for their kids because they're interested in it. Not likely to happen with "Girl in Dress with real pretend to go shopping action!"
I mean, at least Chameleon/Hammerhead they sexed up with a bunch of guns and multiple heads. Packing MJ with a bunch of heat probably doesn't make much sense. An alternate head for Spider-Gwen would be aces, though. Hell, I'd even accept a repaint of the Hope Summers head if need be (even if I'd hope for something better). So there you go Hasbro, your Amazon-exclusive 3-pack for 2017 when the new Spider-Man movie hits: MJ/Gwen/Betty headswap, Civvie Peter Parker, and Norman Osborn in a suit. ^Name's Jack O'Lantern
I'm happy for Spider-gwen, and while I don't think another Ben Reilly is totally necessary, I'm open to it. I don't know if it's the paint but Venom doesn't look like the hyperion mold to me, looks more like the new mid sized torso. And is that a female beetle? The wings look awesome transparent like that but I'm sure they're gonna be more translucent when it comes to retail; compare scarlet witch's hex bolts between her show model and final version. If we do ever get a normal Gwen figure, I think it's only fair to have a decent range torso and neck hinge. |

Oh man, that Venom is love.
That's my favorite version of Venom, not the Rape Tongued Black Hulk. |

Spider-Gwen is getting a lot of love...She's also getting her own Koto Bish statue as well...although you're right I'm surprised they haven't done a Mary Jane in this line and the Bish line...

Yes, that's the Beetle reusing Wasp's wings. She was a member of the recent Sinister Six in the Superior Foes book, it was a very funny read. The Silvermane head should have come with a Shocker figure not Speed Demon.
Venom is appreciated but I'll probably just stick with the select one.

I can't believe that littl head in the car is Silvermane. My god, that is just insulting to his character. Hopefully the head can come off so we can put it on a real body.

Nope, he never gets a new body but for just a head he's pretty productive. Considering he had been dead in the comics coming back as just a head is still an improvement. In the end of the series he names Shocker the new head of the Maggia crime family, but I suppose that's not totally relevant any more since Secret Wars will set up a new universe.

Okay, the standouts to me:
Jack O' Lantern looks amazingly awesome. I'm a big fan of some of Spidey's scrub villains, and he's one of my faves. I can't wait for this one. Venom...like Trivial Psychic said above, it's nice to get an old-school version, although the Marvel Select one will always remain my default Venom. I just happen to be a fan of the over-the-top proportions, the tongue, teeth, etc. Absorbing Man- not really a fan of the character, but that figure looks astounding. I'm blown away by that head sculpt! And the female Beetle! I love it! It's got this goofy 1960's style that makes her just so damn endearing! I'm totally picking this one up. Very, very excited by the redraft of the Absorbing Man! Happy to get a Speed Demon; I'm getting that much closer to a proper Thunderbolts line-up.
Morbius, while it's a definite upgrade from the hideous Toybiz version, I'm still disappointed with this latest attempt. I hope it's the lighting that's making it seem lackluster. Why is it so hard to capture Morbius' face? Maybe the details of the head are being washed out by the white paint and flash combo...if it turns out that this was merely the result of a bad angle/lighting, then I will pick one up. I'll need to see more photos. The rest are a wash for me. I'll be saving money on this wave. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 07-09-2015 at 01:39 PM.. |

BTW, guys? Is there any way you can put your "TOYARK.COM" watermark in the corner of your pics instead of right in the middle? 90% of the time it's going right through the figure's face.

I am sure they do this for copyright reasons. If the watermark was on the side, other places could crop it off and use the photos. Deviant art does the same thing a lot too.
