But these figures look pathetic. I don't care if the guy with the bee hive thing on his head is the baddest MFer in THE UNIVERSE. He looks dumb. Like he got ahead injury and escaped the hospital or something...so annoying.
I don't feel much better about the robot with a fly head. It lacks originality to me, no creativity, effort, anything. At-act has MAJOR tactical flaws and weaknesses so in the new movie they make bigger ones? Lack of effort. Last edited by Tomax; 10-08-2017 at 03:06 PM.. |

I agree, I fold, I am out.
This really frustrates me. I am a fan off Star Wars and one of the main reasons is, and always has been, character design. THEY LOOK COOL! But these figures look pathetic. I don't care if the guy with the bee hive thing on his head is the baddest MFer in THE UNIVERSE. He looks dumb. Like he got ahead injury and escaped the hospital or something...so annoying. At-act has MAJOR tactical flaws and weaknesses so in the new movie they make bigger ones? Lack of effort. Need a bad robot because BB8 WAS A success? Let's just paint him black and call it a bad guy. The good old days I guess are gone. Oh well.

That's not my point though. THe Ewoks were far more vicious than any bounty hunter. Hell, the only bounty hunter they featured was a dude who got killed by a blind man with a broom stick and he is supposed to be the best of them all. If he's the best, then bounty hunters must really suck ass in the Star Wars universe.

The civil war TM looks like a robotic/cyborg version. Nothing remotely good about that figure except you can buy multiples of it,and a lightsaber, really? put some generic bad guy head on it & have a group of armored thugs. Classic TM blows away the modern version. Can't wait to get him!

While I agree that the previous Taskmaster they gave us was lame in the looks department I have a quick question. Why do people refer to that wave as a "Civil War" wave? You're not the only one and it makes no sense to me, there were no movie figures in the wave and the movie itself was at least a couple of months away from what I remember. It couldn't have anything really to do with the comic either since nothing in the wave was specifically drawn from that material.

I guess cuz he was in the "civil war" Cap wave. I stopped collecting comics after the Planet Hulk/WW Hulk story arc, so wouldn't know if he was in any comic sporting this awful look or not. When I 1st hear he was coming out in the Cap wave, I was praying it was the classic 1st app version. Totally POed they gave us a cyborg looking TM with a lightsaber. Thankfully, Hasbro rectified that error by re-doing him in his classic look. |

I have the classic Taskmaster, I don't even remember the other, but he looks like he would make a good Doombot.

I've only read him in one comic which dealt with Spider-Man when MJ had been kidnapped and Spider-Man kicked the dude's ass. Thus, I never understood how he was this super solder master who could best any hero.

The Red Onslaught wave Taskmaster figure was based off of his look/weapons from the Ultimate Spider-man animated series. Hasbro released a few figures in the line that coincided with their appearances from the show.

Wait I thought that was supposed to be Taskmaster from the Udon miniseries?

you both are correct. Hasbro just gave you the choice between the two head sculpts you would prefer mask wise.
But i believe he's more suited to the ultimate spider-man cartoon |

The base body is designed after the Ultimate cartoon, with the additional headsculpt added to emulate the Udon Taskmaster. IMO, the Udon design has a more street-level feel, rather than the Ultimate's robotic armored look.

Honestly, I think that figure would have looked a hell of a lot better if it had more orange to properly reflect Taskmaster's normal color scheme. For a while, I've been meaning to do a bit of a repaint of mine to do that. Repaint the belt/harness orange, make the blue inner part of the elbow orange, and add some orange to the downward chevron thing on his upper chest, to make his color scheme a bit more properly Taskmaster-y and really make it pop.

He does have a pretty neat power but it only really makes him a mildly tough fighter in the total Marvel world. He can only copy fighting styles, not any actual powers and then his strength and endurance levels are limited to his physical condition (typically though he's at good Olympic athlete level). His reflexes are the only other thing that see any kind of boost but his actual use of those reactions puts a lot of strain on his body since he's forcing it to push its limits. The list of people that Taskmaster poses a legitimate threat to on any given day ends in the street-level heroes and even then they've pretty much all beaten him. Characters like Captain America pretty much always beat him because they have super qualities that he just doesn't so even if he can trade fists with them they'll still edge him out and then characters who are truly super-powered can beat him incredibly easily, as seen in the Age of Ultron comic story where Red Hulk effortlessly kills him with one hand.

I think that point couldve used an extra bit of dialogue somewhere to clarify. Fett is paid for locating the Falcon so the Empire is able to intercept them at Bespin. Then after that it's implied Fett has a claim on Solo. But why? Either Vader just let's him have Solo or maybe since Solo has a bounty on his head, he has "worth" so maybe Solo IS the reward or part of the reward? Otherwise, it seems like Fett gets paid twice for just finding the Falcon, which doesn't really make sense. |

Can't understand all of the hate for poor Dengar. The guy was Boba's homie, having known him since he was a child, and was the one who pulled Boba from the Sarlaac (after the battle on Jabba's barge,) and nursed him back to health in the EU before Disney did their retcon/clean slate thing...
Much love for Dengar...hopefully all of this spite for him means he won't be that hard to find, as he is the only figure in that wave I have any interest in... |

Well, technically Vader only said to locate them not capture them. Which he did.

The story of Dengar rescuing Boba from the Sarlaac comes from the old Star Wars novel "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" which is a collection of stories about the fate of the hunters after their meeting on Vader's Star Destroyer. In it, details are given as to why Dengar wears the head scarf (he has a horrific scar as well as cybernetic implants that he is concealing) and goes into a bit more about his relationship with Boba, who he retrieves from the Sarlaac in a near death state, and cares for after Han's rescue. This story appeared in comic form at some point as well if memory serves me correctly, of course, now all for naught thanks to Disney's purge of Star Wars lore... |

I haven't watched the Clone Wars cartoon beyond the firt seaason, and I guess I never will as the show is being taken off Netflix.
I don't count fan written novels as official canon regardless of Lucas accepting them as it meant he got paid. I applaud Disney for wiping them out of "continuity" so it didn't interfer with the new movies and TV series. Anyway, were those Marvel reveals on Wed it? Didn't Hasbro reveal anything over the weekend at a panel or anything? That seems kind of lame.
