Hasbro Announces Exclusive Jurassic Park Toy Line at Toys"R"Us Stores Nationwide

PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS - News) has announced plans to unleash the legendary dinosaurs from Universal Pictures’ Jurassic Park, one of the most powerful franchises in motion picture history. This fall, under a licensing agreement with Universal Partnerships & Licensing, Hasbro plans to launch a new action figure line based on the film’s prehistoric predators exclusively at Toys“R”Us stores across the country.

“Jurassic Park is one of the most successful film franchises of all time and has a passionate fan base,” said Derryl DePriest, Vice President of Marketing at Hasbro. “Dinosaurs are also tremendously popular with kids, and Jurassic Park is the mark of authenticity when it comes to realistic and exciting dinosaur play.”

“Since the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park first stomped onto movie screens more than 15 years ago, they’ve captured kids’ imaginations,” said Karen Dodge, Senior Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer, Toys“R”Us. “There is no better place to find toys based on kids’ favorite characters than Toys“R”Us, and we’re excited to be the only retailer to offer kids and collectors official Jurassic Park action figures.”

“Jurassic Park remains the quintessential dinosaur brand,” said Stephanie Sperber, Executive Vice President, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. “The movies still rank as one of the top five trilogies of all time, and with Hasbro and Toys“R”Us behind the line, we know there will be great demand for the product. We truly have a winning combination on our hands.”

Hasbro’s Jurassic Park product line will be available exclusively at Toys“R”Us stores beginning this fall, featuring authentic dinosaur action figures in various sizes, such as:

Jurassic Park Basic Dinosaur Two-Pack Assortment

Now, kids can assemble their own dino army with this collection of authentic Jurassic Park dinosaurs! With two dinosaurs in each pack, this assortment allows children to create amazing dinosaur adventures.

Ages: 4 & up; No batteries required

Jurassic Park Deluxe Dinosaur and Figure Assortment

Each deluxe two-pack in this assortment comes with a dinosaur and a “Dino Tracker” action figure that is equipped with an accessory that lets them track their prey. Now, kids can determine who will win the hunt –dinosaurs or humans.

Ages: 4 & up; No batteries required

Jurassic Park Electronic Dinosaur Assortment

The battle is coming! These fully articulated dinosaurs battle each other and have “dino-damage” to show for it. Each dinosaur lets out a fierce roar when kids activate its individual attack action. To create a more realistic battle, kids can also press the “dino-damage” to hear the dinosaur howl.

Ages: 4 & up; 3 “A76” or “LR44” Alkaline batteries required (included)

Jurassic Park Deluxe Electronic T-Rex

The king of the dinosaurs has arrived! This massive T-Rex comes to life with multiple growls, roars and howls and even a “bone crunching” sound effect for when it eats its prey. Additionally, its motion activated stomping sounds are sure to strike fear into humans and other dinosaurs alike. This giant dinosaur comes with a “Dino Tracker” action and a weapon that really fires. As an added bonus, the back of the box has an illustration that can be cut out and assembled into an off-road vehicle.

Ages: 4 & up; 3 “AAA” batteries required (included)

Since Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment first joined forces to unleash an adventure over 65 million years in the making, Jurassic Park has become the “premier” and “authentic” dinosaur brand the world over. When Jurassic Park was released in 1993, it became an instant phenomenon. In the years that followed, two additional films were released – The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III – bringing the trilogy’s worldwide box office total to more than $2 billion. The franchise continues to resonate with consumers worldwide via consumer products, popular attractions at Universal Studios Theme Parks and annual airings of the three films on a multitude of television networks.

Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS - News) is a worldwide leader in children’s and family leisure time products and services with a rich portfolio of brands and entertainment properties that provides some of the highest quality and most recognizable play and recreational experiences in the world. As a brand-driven, consumer-focused global company, Hasbro brings to market a range of toys, games and licensed products, from traditional to high-tech and digital, under such powerful brand names as TRANSFORMERS, PLAYSKOOL, TONKA, MILTON BRADLEY, PARKER BROTHERS, CRANIUM and WIZARDS OF THE COAST. hey...Toys R Us in Alpharetta Georgia already released the two packs and the single electronic dinosaur figures waves about a week ago, so old news here no T-rex yet though, which I might buy just so I can repaint him.

My TRU has had the single electronic dinos for several weeks as well. But they are $18 each! A bit much for a little dinosaur.

Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of the prices on these, especially when the line is mostly reused JP3 toys. The high price for the big rex ($59.99) is not so bad, because you're getting a LOT of dinosaur for your money, plus the mold's been altered.

Appearance-wise? These are among the best JP dinosaur colors yet. A little strange, a little realistic, and almost entirely unexpected. Hasbro definitely got creative with what they had.

It is. It's a going to all UK and International markets that Hasbro distributes to and has Toys "R" Us stores.

man they brought back the bull t-rex and added articulation to the legs with hip joints and ball ankle and shoulder joints but totally blew it on that mediocre paint scheme...with any lick they'll do something different.

the best realistic paint schemes were from the first film including the large t rex, juvenile, stegosaurus, and triceratops, and the second films figures, these have terrible unnatural paint schemes and shapes to me...and that bull t rex is way too over priced even though its arms have been remolded.

Articulation? What's that?

The hatchlings have no articulation. The Dino Growlers are almost fixed-pose, with swivel joints at arms and legs and sometimes moving jaws attached to push-button gimmicks for the predators. The Bull Rex has some potential in that area though, thanks to the newer mold, but only in the arms and legs.

Emphasis on to you. These are effing dinosaurs, not real, known animals, in a science-fiction setting where they have been brought back to life via cloning. Realism is wholly relative, and for what they are, I believe they have a touch of realism.

yeah, you really gotta criticize me, what I meant was the thick solid colors for example on the bull t-rex seem unnatural in the sense that some areas don't continue all the way down the lines of the body and the strange loops don't look natural and seemed like they were rushed paint jobs is all...to me previous paint schemes seemed more believable and natural looking...don't try to play all high and mighty, this is a forum where we can post our thoughts on a up in coming toy line...

No, but I responded to your comment after you did to mine. It's nothing personal, LOL.

Those "loops" and the lines that you mention don't strike me as rush jobs. Poorly thought out or illogical, perhaps, but the colors on everything save for the hatchlings looks quite detailed to me.

oh yeah I like the colors they picked just think they could have implemented them better on the big t-rex the smaller figures look good and I like how they did the t-rex and triceratops ones. Hmm I wonder if it still has that stomach slit for when it swallows a figure you can extract it

just saw the big t-rex at my local toys r us and wow a major disappointment they basically down graded the figure by taking what the big dinosaurs were know for that latex rubber skin on the body's and made the torso solid hard plastic...its a total shame and really takes away for a great figure. makes it not worth the price and seems cheap.
