I could not think of a more awful way to bring Visionaries back to the mainstream. So much potential for this line.

The Micronauts remain largely unchanged from when I collected them as a child...I think I like that.

Excited for micronauts to return, but I don't need this set. Bring on Acroyear.

I don't think I could be more disappointed in seeing the word 'Visionaries' and then looking at what they made.

I want the Micronauts but I'd be ok with them selling fast because it would show interest.

Cool Leoric is back! I'm betting the reason we're getting Mighty Mugs Visionaries is because the toy line isn't ready yet. It's probably not going to be ready for another year is my guess so this is just to show fans that may not be on the boards as much as folks like us, they are bringing them back. Speculation of course.

I highly doubt kids would be interested in tnose Micronaughts unless they come up with a GOOD cartoon or media of some kind. I think they look pretty cool though just like I remember

Hopefully scalpers will be going for these things when they go live on HTS and leave the TF/Marvel stuff alone haha.

Leoric? That doesn't look much like the Skeleton King.

I never understood Micronauts, or their appeal. They are just weird looking silvery humans with haphazard accessories. Was there ever a comic about them? I am certain I never seen a cartoon, for sure.

Hmm. Galactic Warrior's missile looks utterly ridiculous, but I suppose it is less unsafe if someone gets a missile in the face by accident. (Those red ones from the original could still pack a bit of a wallop, IIRC.)

Galactic Defender has an upside-down jet pack and leg jets, as well as the wrong rifle.

Yes, I'm nitpicking. Yes, I'm still planning to try for these if the price isn't too steep. (Yes, I need to see if I can find my old Pharoid, Galactic Defender, Acroyear, etc. in my parents' basement one of these days.... )

Either interest or scalpers. Speaking of...

Fixed that for you. You're welcome.

No, a multi-pack of Acroyears! An army of Acroyears!

The fourth (or fifth, depending on how you count them) iteration started a couple months ago.

The first version from Marvel started in late 1978 (cover-dated January '79). Fifty-eight issues plus two annuals written by Bill Mantlo, as well as a four-issue X-Men/Micronauts crossover he co-wrote with Chris Claremont. Issue 59 was a transitional issue written by Peter B. Gillis as a lead in to his 20-issue Volume 2, subtitled "The New Voyages." It wasn't a reboot, but took the characters in a different direction and ended oddly (but at least both Volume 1 and Volume 2 had an ending, unlike the next two).

Image Comics' 2002 reboot lasted 11 issues (plus a four-issue miniseries on the origin of Baron Karza).

Devil's Due 2004 reboot lasted just three issues.

The third issue of IDW's reboot should be in comic stores today.

The annoying thing about the reboots is that the only concepts that could be carried over from one version to another are the toys, and the (minimal) characterization associated with the toys. So, a lot of the mythology that Mantlo developed, along with several characters that had extremely tenuous (or non-existent) connections with the toys, were of necessity left out of later versions. This especially hurt the Devil's Due series, as the world-building (or "Microverse-building") was just getting started when it was canceled.

You could even call the reboots new mythologies, with even less similarities between them than (say) Transformers Marvel and Transformers IDW. (Of course, since the vast majority of Transformers have a biography on the toy packaging, there is a lot more characterization that can move from one comic company to another without the lawyers getting upset.)

Whether it be fans or scalpers, as long as Hasbro sees money it and makes more.

I really like the artwork on the Micronauts box set, it's perfect. Seeing the old style of figures makes me twice as curious about what updates might look like.

Ahh so Hasbro are starting with some retro figs for the Micronauts line. Nice.

I see the SDCC box set is going to be around $130 USD. Ouch! I still want it though. Heh.

Takara released quite a few new Microman figs in Japan over the years since Micronauts stopped selling in the USA/Canada, so Im sure Hasbro wont have any problems finding the molds for a ton of Micronauts most people haven't seen before.

Great time to be a Microman/Micronauts fan!

Ha! Yeah, the only 70's era missile-launching-toys with more kick...or greater potential for injury...were the Shogun Warriors with their bludgeoning fists and eye-piercing missiles (at least the Micronauts had rubber tips)! It seemed like toy makers for these lines equipped their wares with only the strongest springs...wound as tight as humanly possible. But, hey...it was the age of Lawn Darts...so little plastic/rubber missiles seemed harmless.

I'm excited to see where this goes. Where's my Repto?!?!

I've gotten hit with the Godzilla flying hand a few times (the mechanism was sensitive-not that I was shooting it at myself on purpose) and I can attest that it did indeed pack a punch-no pun intended.

Same, I was speaking from experience. I had my Gaiking posed with arm raised, admiring the toy's magnificence when it up and shoots me in eye with a remarkably powerful impact. I laughed it off and played with the thought that it had a mind of it's own...I really miss those toys.

Sorry if this has been asked before:

So what is the difference between the SDCC Exclusive Jyn Erso and the regular Jyn Erso? Just the box?

What about the unmasked Kylo Ren, is it just the banner and box?

Thanks.

Kylo - Its the box, banner and the melted Darth Vader helmet.
Obi - Its the box, light-up table and Anakin/Luke lightsaber

Jyn, Obi Wan and Magic were sold out on Saturday. I believe everything else was still available on Sun.
