I did a lot of research on the web about this toy a few months prior and leading up to it's official release, and I was very excited about the previews stating that it was part die cast metal and part plastic/pvc. I simply HAD to get it. Upon opening it up, however, I discovered that the blue tinting on the figure was a bit over-done. But that was no problem. Then I discovered that the tail was a rubber bendy one instead of the segmented ball and socket jointed one shown in all the pictures. It immediately went from 5 stars to 4 when I saw that. Then, upon posing him and checking him out, I came to the harsh realization that he isn't made of much die cast metal AT ALL. From what I can discern, his 4 long back pipes/spikes are made of die cast metal, and so are his toes. That's it... unless, of course, you count the knee joints and the waist ball joint... they are metal as well. I was under the impression that his body would be made of die cast metal, and his head would be made of pvc plastic. At least the dome would be, and the head would be a different type of plastic. But no, he is mostly plastic, with a small bit of die cast metal tossed in. I'm surprised that no one has done a review on him yet... at least not that I could find. Not even on Youtube. There are reviews on Youtube for the Scar Predator of the same line, but no mention of him not being what was advertised. Don't get me wrong, I like the figure, but with what info there is out there on him, he looked as if he would be of higher quality that the actual figure you open with child-like anticipation. I am slightly disappointed, and a tad bit annoyed that he costs so much. The articulation is great, the inner jaws popping out are cool (they work on a trigger that the small back spike pushes when you push up on it), the accessories are cool: the drool looks great, the hands are nice, and the Face Hugger is neat... although not very detailed. I finally decided on a 3 star rating for the figure because, although he is a great figure, he isn't worth near what you pay for him. Maybe about 60-70 dollars, but not over 100. That is what you will end up paying for him on most sites. I have always been a HUGE fan of Giger and his Alien... and as a warning to any other fan out there pinching his pennies so he can buy one of these guys... he isn't what you see in the pics. No one else thus far, as far as I can find, has posted any kind of review on this figure. So, here you go.
