This year has gone by fast (for me at least). There's been ups and downs but amazingly enough I always seem to enjoy this time of year. I think it has to do with good eating and eggnog.
Plus I love seeing bare toy shelves. Better chances of seeing newer figures I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Also...time spent with family & friends. Though even then sometimes it's a bit too much to bare. So I ask this, "What are things you like/dislike about the holiday season"? |

Merry Christmas!
I don't like the use of the word "holiday" durring Christmas time. If you celebrate some other "holiday" durring this time of year feel free to wish me a happy one because I will most certainly wish you a Merry Christmas.

I do not like that I have to buy things for others, but like that others buy things for me.
I agree with this. Actually, it's got to the point where I'll almost go out of my way to say Merry Christmas just because I'm sick of the political correctness caused by all of these other fake holidays that a few people are into this time of year.

I dislike pretending to be good all year in order to qualify for presents from Santa.

When someone says "Metty Christmas!" to me I just look them dead in the eye and say "I'm Jewish- We got your guy the first time...and we'll get him when he comes back too."
I get through seasonal depression by starting random fistfights. Naw, really I just say "Fuck you." It's shorter. Yes, that's a joke, sensitive Arkers- I dont really mind Christ's horning in on a perfectly good pagan celebration any more than I do the Romans useing all those Greek temples for their half-assed versions of same. They were the first to recycle- temples, holidays, whatever. Last edited by Jason Abbadon; 12-21-2011 at 05:31 PM.. |

I don't like that the roads are flooded with idiot drivers who normally keep their dumb asses out of the driver's seat, yet once the Christmas season hits they're everywhere. Even when you try to enter a store there are plenty of these mindless zombies wandering around, filling their carts with bright, shiny objects.

The best part about the holidays for me is spending time with my family. The second is giving/receiving presents. Third is the food.
My biggest complaint is the crowds at the stores and the inevitable mad-dash last-minute shoppers. Christmas comes at the same time every year. Why can't people seem to plan ahead better? I also dislike how retail tends to skip over other holidays to get to Christmas faster and faster every year. It used to be right after Thanksgiving. Now the advertising seems to pop up before Halloween. I realise that retail makes most of its money during 4th QTR (i.e. Oct./Nov./Dec.), but come on. Let me enjoy the others for a moment before bombarding me with Santa-this and Elf-that. I also have issues with the political correctness of "Happy Holidays", but since it would inevitably wander into religious discussion, I will keep it to myself. And I suggest that others do the same. I don't want to lock up another holiday thread. You use hats to wrap your presents? Impressive. I usually go with wrapping paper or gift bags. Merry Christmas!

I've gotta say, my first Christmas collecting toys is pretty good. Target open till Midnight, and TRU open 24 hours? That's pretty awesome for me, even if there's only one checker at TRU at 1 am and there's 15 people in line (some with carts FULL of toys!).
Plus, I have an excuse to both be generous and selfish at the exact same time... |

This is where one wishes all a Merry Christmahanakwanza...though seems like it's missing something.
Anyhow, only other thing I don't care much for is the snow. This time of year...snow just drags down my spirits. Otherwise giving gifts is always fun. |

I just got a kick ass Toro snow blower last week.. so if you don't want to see snow for a few years, move to my area. The snow blower came with a two year warranty, so that means it won't snow until 2014 now.

Working where I do, I've seen the kind of extremes the holidays bring. Overwhelming generosity and insatiable greed, tearful joy and burning rage... it's quite the roller coaster. A lot like Busch Gardens, really, what with a few annoying bits and a whole lot of awesome.
Honestly, the one thing I enjoy the most is snuggling up with my special someone and watching The Muppet Christmas Carol. Sure, the food's great, the gifts are nice, but simple things like that are what you remember when you're on the home stretch. |

I hear you on the hoards of idiots flooding the streets and shops, I hate going into a store lookiong for something specifc, I know where it is, I just want to get in and go, but on my way I have people mindlessly stopped intbetween spots to walk, driving carts without looking. I went to Walmart last night, and this big 300 lb lady was blocking the 2nd door for the exit, In other words you have to walk past her to get buy, I was patient and gave her a minute, then someone came behind me and yelled "tell that fat bitch to move " lol, was the funniest thing.
I enjoy the present giving/recieving the eggnog, turkey, and seeing my relatives drunk lol. |

The family all getting together to forget all of our busy lives and just enjoy each other is the best. Food , drink and good company is what its all about.
I also like all of the "cool" people that surface and have to tell you how much they hate the holidays... reminds me how empty ones life could potentially be.. so appreciate who/what you have.. holidays or not. :-) |
