“There are no strings on me.” Since the first official release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, the film’s titular villain Ultron’s menacing appearance and memorable speech has grabbed many fans’ attention and left wondering how the Earth’s mightiest heroes can stand up against this highly dangerous robot and its large army. With the epic blockbuster just few short months away from hitting theatres worldwide, Hot Toys is very excited to “show you something beautiful” today, the 1/6th scale Ultron Prime Collectible Figure, that many fans and collectors have eagerly awaited to see! The movie-accurate Collectible Figure is specially crafted based on the image of Ultron Prime in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It stands approximately 41 cm tall, featuring a newly developed head sculpt and body with mechanical details, LED light-up head and upper body, and a specially designed Avengers: Age of Ultron logo figure base with LED light-up function! This threatening villain will have great presence in your Avengers: Age of Ultron collection! ]

I personally am not a fan. I think it has too much of a plasticy feel to it (yes I know it's made of plastic) compared to any IM armor. If you want it displayed with the red highlights you have to keep the LED lights on at all times. It's just not for me. And, since he's like 16 inches tall, he will no doubt cost $350 or more. And with zero accessories to boot. It's just not worth it imo.

For the movie, I think this looks fine. However, I feel the comic rendition should retain Ultron's iconic look. Unfortunately, that's not Marvel's take on the matter. Just wait until the comic version starts resembling this design; it will be a difficult undertaking to repeat that look consistently form artist to artist. As most know, the orders from 'on high' dictate that the Marvel Universe and its characters come in line with Marvel's movie universe...tail wagging the dog.

@Nerd
I'll take that as some consolation, but not much. My point, at its core, was directed more so at the soft reboot Marvel has planned. My personal opinion is that if Marvel wants to avoid confusing fans who are introduced to comics via movies, worrying that readers cannot reconcile the different appearances of characters, then work harder(and smarter) to market Marvel's rich history to new converts. Disruption of continuity is exactly what has turned formerly regular readers like myself into 'spot' trade-paperback collectors. When I was a kid, Marvel did a great job of creating interest in back issues, which in turn created cascading success for the brand as a whole. Part of becoming a fan of comics (IMO) is embracing the past of whichever pantheon one fancies. This reboot effort will muddy the waters and eventually, just as DC is preparing to do with the "New 52," Marvel will revert back in an effort to regain some of the lost identity of a diluted franchise. |

Pre-orders up. 374.99. Couldn't help myself, pulled the trigger. Wish it came with more. It will be around 16 inches I believe.

@Tiberius-Yeah, Hot Toys prices went up recently. That's why I only budgeted for Ultron, Vision and Hulkbuster. I was expecting that to be around 1250,but it looks like or will be more.
I know someone who will be working some OT this year, lol.
