I was going to agree with you about the soundtrack but I realized I was mixing it up with the Batman Forever soundtrack. There's a track with Brandy and Lenny Kravitz that's one of my all time faves.

The positive reminiscing is because most of us were kids or teens when Batman Forever came out, and it was a fun, energetic film. The hate and bitterness came from the "We know what good film is" critics and adults who didn't understand what a comicbook movie really was. Is it perfect? No. It's by no means anywhere as good as 1989 Batman. But it's also not horrible. Honestly, as entertainment, I prefer these movies over the Nolan trilogy only because these are actually comicbook-type FUN. With the Nolan films, they try too hard to be "serious epic drama" and in my humble opinion, fail horribly at being the characters portrayed. Batman's roar/whisper voice, obsession with Rachel, Joker being some clairvoyant manipulator of probabilities, and Catwoman and Bane's social justice warriors schtick just fall flat. I'd rather watch a campy 1960's homage in the Schumacher films than the abysmally whiny Nolan Bat.

Don't get me wrong, they're both funny to watch in a "so bad they're good" kinda way, but I truly feel that the modern MCU movies strike the right balance of seriousness and humor. We're in a golden age of comic book movies right now. Quote:

Batman Forever laid the intense camp groundwork that Batman and Robin drove into the end zone of dogshit. They're both guilty.

We're in a golden age of comic book movies right now. With Civil War, Infinity War and definitely Endgame and Spider-Man FFH, it's fallen closer to the Nolan "serious movie" over the "Hey, we're comicbook characters, let's do this!" fun of movies like Deadpool, Ragnarok, Antman, Venom, Shazam, Aquaman, Superman 1978, etc. I'm almost Marvel'd out. Doctor Strange 2 will be my gauge.

I thoroughly enjoyed Shazam far more than Endgame, personally. I like movies that embrace the enjoyment. Heroes cracking jokes and confident one-liners, villains with ridiculous machines for global destruction, and overall hammy comicbook-style dialog. If I want serious drama, there are thousands of independent films shot in Italy for that.

Doctor Strange 2 will be my gauge. But after the bitterness of the last 2 avengers, we can have a lighter tone, for a while, until a new threat (more movies) shows up... That being said, I'll never be Marveled or DCed out or any company, too much of a fan... |

Yes, your kinda right, but you need to have a balance, you can't have all funny heroes, some must be the voice of reason, etc...

I haven't bought a Hot Toys figure since 2012. I'm buying Batman.
