Sorry, not collecting. I mean buying one and only one for now. After all, to buy the complete Avengers set (6 heroes, Loki, Fury and Coulson) it would be almost $3,000. And I don't want to finish when I'm 90.
Anyway, I normally collect just 3.75 in. figures but I can't help but want one Marvel movie Hot Toys figure just to see how awesome they really are. What would be the cheapest way to buy one? I've thought of buying each piece on eBay, but after you buy all the little accessories it's just as expensive (or it's cheaper and I'm bad at finding deals). I know this isn't the B/S/T area, but if anyone has some extra (even used) Marvel Hot Toys they want to sell, please PM me. The movie and character aren't important, as long as it's a Marvel movie figure. But Iron Man is my top choice, any Mark.

You can find some deals on ebay for them. The first one I ever got, and I only have 2 so far, is the Mark 1 v2.0. It was opened but still complete with everything and I paid under 200 for it. The toys themselves are incredibly detailed and IMO totally worth it. The Mark armors can be expensive though. You may have better luck getting Capt A or maybe even Thor for cheaper, but keep your eyes open for deals. You never know. If you got to say sideshow's website, they have the mark 42 for....I wanna say $170 preorder.

And isn't that Mark 42 the basic figure without all the interchangeable parts and removable helmet, I think the premium 42 is around $300. EDIT: I looked, yeah that's the power pose "super articulated" one. The one with Stark head and cool accessories is $300. I wonder if it would still work with a Stark head from eBay, but the neck joint might be different.

To be honest nothing compares to the Hot Toys stuff, they look amazing and feel like your getting your money's worth.
The only way I've been able to do it is on FlexiPay from Sideshow. Allows you to pay via instalments over a few months. Had that option not been available I would have been able to get the ones I have now. Having said that I missed out on preordering Hawkeye, and the after market prices on him are upwards of £300 now. I'm going to have to bite the bullet at some point if I want a complete set. |

I really want the Hot Toys Iron Patriot but they are expensive. Problem is that even the preorders go up over time and with many of them buying a used one after it is release will, cost you more than new since they go up in value.

If I was super rich I'd buy the whole Iron Legion, but I'd even go with just Iron Patriot (my favorite character). It's just these new diecast ones are so expensive, even more than the older IM armors.

Sideshow does offer payment plans for most, but not all, of their hot toy products, including the Iron Patriot.

I would like Hot Toys to release a Bruce Banner & Maria Hill for the Avengers line, I would be VERY happy then.

I just recently got my first Hot Toy which is Mark V from Iron Man 2(aesthetics, not the way it 'fights'). To echo a few of you in this thread, the details is what Hot Toy takes pride on. While they are a bit on the expensive side, they are worth the pennies of their original retail price, at least in my eyes they are. Nothing can ever compare to how enamoring it was to open my first Hot Toy and finally being able to say I have one.
And Sideshow is indeed the easiest way I have seen it done. Andy pointed that out to me and I currently have Silver Centurion on pre order since BBTS sold out in a matter of time. I can see myself being able to handle more than one purchase of a Hot Toy thanks to Sideshow.

^^^^ Nice case. I have only been getting the SHIELD members, so I have Hawkeye, Fury, Coulson, and Widow. They are so nice :-) I have not finished their display yet, but I will put a pic up when I do. It will be in the same cabinet as my 89 Keaton and Batmobile.

Nice one Phantomcrow! I can only wish to have the '89 Batman stuff right now. Hawkeye is going to be the hard one for me to get, Black Widow is next on the list.

It's good to see that Hulk can barely fit in a Detolf with no room for anyone else. I will have to take that into consideration!

If you want to start buying Hot Toys then I would personally recommend that you stay away from eBay, at least until you know what you are doing. Buy a couple of figures so you know how they come packed and what quality to expect. Ebay has a lot of scammers selling bootlegs and figures missing pieces.
Lots of times brand new figures need a replacement part (accessory or costume part) and if you buy from eBay you will have no chance at getting it replaced. I buy all of my Hot Toys from Sideshow Collectibles for just that reason. You can return the figure to them for any reason for 30 days. To answer your question about the Hot Toys Avengers figures, the best way to acquire one now is the search for one that is in stock at an online toy store. If you search hard enough you will end up paying way below the eBay prices for the figure. If you go after the figures that were recently released you will have a better chance at getting a good deal. The longer a Hot Toys figure has been on the market the more expensive it is going to be (generally).

I personally never thought I would be collecting Hot Toys simply because of how much they generally cost. That is until I realized I wanted them more than what I have been collecting in the past. Selling pieces of my collection has all gone towards hot toy figures. And I've actually gotten a lot of really good deals for them on ebay. It's almost impossible to find previously released figures anywhere else.

I love seeing photo shoots and collections of the 1/6th figures, since I must enjoy them vicariously. I would love to get a few HT/SS figures myself (especially that Hulk), but it's just not in the cards for me. Space constraints and money are the biggest factors for me.
Besides, Masterpiece TFs are my "Hot Toys".
