So GOTG, an untested franchise with a (relatively) unknown cast and a general lack of mainstream appeal, gets the full team, while Days of Future Past gets nothing? Weird.
Even though I think this movie looks pretty bad, I may get the Drax because Drax is one of my favourite characters and I'm a fan of Batista.

I'm happy they're doing the figures, but I really have no interest in them. Sure they may be amazing once completed and released, but eh, pass for me.

Rocket is already bought, as far as I'm concerned. Starlord is fairly likely too. Groot may end up being too expensive, and Gamora... ehh... I just really don't like it when they use "life-like" hair. Treads too far into Barbie territory, in my opinion, and ends up looking messy to boot. I've always been indifferent to Drax.

I'm most intrigued about how they colored Gamora's hair. I wanted to do something like that to one of my custom 1/6 figures a long time ago, and even consulted with people who know more than me. We couldn't figure out a way to do it.
Specifically, I wanted to create a female character with bleached blonde hair and dark brown roots coming through. |

The 2 best known actors of this film are doing voice over work, which means HT doesn't have to pay Bradley Cooper or Vin Diesel for likeness rights, instead just the other 3. Making it more cost effective for them. With Xmen other then a few all of them are portrayed as humans and thus would require paying more likeness right to the actors and film studios, plus toy makers actually get taxed more making toys of humans then of monsters. Marvel is actually fighting a legal battle against said fees. I can never afford HT's but if Rocket is cheap like $100 or less I may get him and I would like Groot, the rest are a meh/blah to me.
Oh good point, I hadn't thought of that! Well said

I agree $160 is high for a 6" figure, but this is hot toys we're talking about. Their popularity is gaining a lot of force with their Marvel products that they can raise the prices on all new up coming figures and people will still buy it.
I guarantee they will release all 5 characters individually, give people a chance to buy each of them, and then come out with a huge 5-pack with extra exclusive accessories; make people buy them all over again. |

The reason why is Disney and Marvel have black listed most movie toys for any movie/characters outside their own studio. This is their way of starving profit from the other movie properties so they get them back in house.

How dare you refer to Bert Macklin, FBI, as an unknown!

I will wait and see the movie before I get them. If I like the movie, I'm going to have to get them. Rocket is wayyyyyyy overpriced. Very disappointing.

Oh man, hot toys is killing me! I definitely had zero plans on buying anything from Guardians but now this?! How can I say no?

They had to go and do it, didn't they.
Damn it, I need that adorable little guy. I kinda feel like they underestimated how much people would love that particular scene, so if you miss out here, I wouldn't worry about it. They're aware now that it's something people want and discussions are taking place. That's all that's been said about it. |

I see they have Rocket's yellow suit in the team shot. Could that be an unannounced accessory, one that may justify the $160 cost?

Well, that extra little accessory just swayed me. Pre-ordered Rocket and Groot. The Guardians will probably be the one and only team I'll complete in the 1/6 scale, and I'm fine with that.
I LOVE the movie, and everyone just did so damn well in their roles. The Hasbro 6" toys don't do any of 'em justice, so I'll be going with Hot Toys. |
