I really enjoyed the movie, and their take on the story minus several key players. I like how they removed Thanos’s courtship of Death. His mission of creating balance in the universe was a much more real-world take on the story.
I always assumed Adam Warlock was in the cocoon at the end of Guardians 2, but could he still make an appearance in part 2 before appearing in Guardians 3? Where was Valkyrie on the ship with the other Asguardians? Thor stole the film for me. He finally felt like the god of thunder. Hopefully this creation of Stormbreaker leads is to Beta Ray Bill. I’d love to see Captain Marvel search the cosmos for a team to battle Thanos, and come up with Bill and some other characters. The saddest moment came when Thanos drove that knife through Stark. I saw a decades worth of Downey as the baddest MFer in the MCU coming to an end. Thankfully it looks like he may be the key to beating Thanos given Strange’s actions. Cap looks like a badass. Hopefully he gets to reunite with that guy on Vormir. |

Everyone was great for the most part but, IMO, Thanos was easily the standout character of the movie...amazing, nuanced performance and great CG work. Warner Bros/DC take note, THAT is how you do a big CG monster villain.

Valkyrie, like Sif, will be another MIA case i assume. 3. True, Stark's imminent death was an edge of your seat moment. But i also felt that years gone by moment with Loki's sacriface. Sad to see him go especially after acknowledging he was an Odinson. You could feel's Thor's loss of his brother through and through. Other thoughts: 1. Asgardians. Extinct. Wow. 2. The moment Team Cap is introduced. Wow. Love that scene. 3. Really digging the personalities of Proxima and Ebony. 4. Hulk. Sad to see his persona cower in fear (i assume) from Thanos. Was hoping he'd bust out during Banner's duel with Dwarf/Obsidian. Would have loved that. 5. Surprised that the original six Avengers (i'm assuming Hawkeye's alive) survived in the end. Can't wait to watch it again for more insights... |

I generally enjoyed it. It was a good first half of an entire movie. A few of the characters felt very much thrown in just to be there, (I love you Black Widow. Scarlett Johansson is a great actress and made me love the character, but she did absolutely nothing the entire movie. Same with Falcon, Bucky, even Spidey and Cap were just sort of there. Thor, Bruce Banner, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Gamora, Vision, Scarlet Witch and Thanos were really the only characters with any importance in the actual main plot for the most part which saddened me a bit although I do like all those characters) but all in all, I’d say it was the first half of my third favorite Marvel movie. It had some great visual effects and a lot of good action and fighting scenes, which is about the only thing every character took part in. I think Thanos might be one of my favorite villains of any franchise now. It really is a good movie, but it’s certainly not flawless. I still like the first two Cap movies the most, but Infinity War is up there, or probably will be when the second half comes out.

Great movie and definitely a great way to make the whole Infinity gauntlet story line much more better then the comics IMO. I never read that actual comic series, and after re reading the wiki for it, glad I didn't haha. I was never much for the Cosmic comics though...And agreed they did a great job with Thanos via CGI, too bad they couldn't do that with Apocalypse per say. Love how they did the Spider-Man iron armor costume too. They really did a great job pulling in a lot of the comics stuff into it for reference and for real life event did a great job of having Thanos cull the universe from over population as the reasoning behind it all...Oh yeah and it was cool seeing Vision in his "white" look at the end, I have feeling at the end of it all that's how they'll have him look without the mind stone.

Nice! Didn't realize that was supposed to be his white look. IIRC, he gets dismantled in West Coast Avengers and comes back white-very cool look for him-so yeah, makes sense that'd be his default look if he comes back.

Going into Infinity War I was expecting to be a little disappointed, and I wasn't, so that was nice. I do think it was overcrowded, though to be fair that will be less of a problem for part two.
I did like that they made Thanos quite grounded and not exactly sympathetic but understandable, not just evil or power grasping for the sake of it. But, my god he is stupid. Like the whole kill half the universe thing to save resources. Maybe part two will just be Thor sitting him down and explaining basic economics and why Malthusianism is a load of bullshit to him and he uses the time and reality stones to reverse everything he did. I infinitely (ha) would have preferred the doing-it-to-impress-Death-(/Hela) plot than this nonsensical idiocy. It won't happen, but if they could leave Starlord dead that would be great.

^ I think movie Thanos is a chump... he wants to kill half the people, but leaves it too chance to which people die? Lame. IMO if he wants to play god he needs to take responsibility and carry the burden of deciding who lives and who dies. In theory he should selectively kill off whomever he thinks will not benefit the overall survival of life throughout the universe... aka kill all the bad guys. If he is just gonna leave it to chance of who dies he might as well just leave the universe alone to begin with.
Great movie though! I was surprised by how well the Ironman, Spidey, Strange, Starlord vs. Thanos fight was. I mean Spidey was holding his own... Strange was badass... Ironman was pretty tough... really wish he had died though... would have had a great impact killing off the one that started it all in that moment. Dumb Starlord being dumb. Didn't like the Wakanda battle as much, but I really liked that Cap was able to push back against an almost fully powered Infinity Gauntlet.... even Thanos seemed impressed for a bit... then came the right hook. I'm actually really shocked they made a good movie with all the characters and stories they had to combine in one film. |

Good movie. Some thoughts, though.
Thanos wants to prevent starvation or something, but has a magic glove that can change reality and time. If he can turn things into bubbles he can turn space rocks into food, right? And yeah, what was his thought process based on, his homeworld? Like they are all like that? Why did Thanos' goon's ship (the one Iron Man, Strange and Spidey are on) go to Titan instead of going back to Thanos's mothership? Am I forgetting something? Was Wakanda's weaponry suddenly meh or what...they should've had super vibranium cannons directed at the shield's choke point. How was Red Skull alive for all that time? Is he no longer corporeal or something? |
