are spelled wrong. This is on the toys as well.
As you can see, they meant to spell: HE WHO WIELDS THIS HAMMER COMMANDS THE LIGHTNING AND THE STORM. They did it wrong, assuming they meant to base it off of Elder Futhark (it does appear so). The "A"s are written with "F"s, the "T"s are written with "Th", the "I"s are written with "Ei", the "N"s are done with "Ng" and they spelled "who" wrong. And for some strange reason, the first "I" in "lightning" is spelled using "L". (The "K" being used for a hard "C" is actually not wrong as there is no "C" in Elder Futhark.) It actually reads as this: HE WOH WEiLDS ThHEiS HFMMER KOMMFNgDS ThHEi LLGHThNgEiNgG FNgD ThHE SThORM |

If you're going to bodge this then at least make the message offensive, or trick kids into wielding the hammer for Cthulu.
A few spelling mistakes does seem right for the Norse gods though. What they lack in brains they make up for with outright force. |

That is kind of funny that Hasbro's toy designers would take the time to translate a phrase into Nordic runes and not bother to proof-read it before sending it to production.
Or maybe they didn't think kids would care or be that resourceful. And to those execs, I've got four words for you: "Google search" and "Comic Geeks". But it does bring up a little dilemma of mine: I want to get one of the hammers just so I can have my own Mjolnir, but I'm not sure which one I want to get. The Nerf toy is pretty durable, but is woefully out out scale. The Electronic one is the right scale and the lights and noises are fun, but it seems a lot more fragile (especially since I can collapse the hammer head with my hand, though it does reform on its own). Not to mention there's a $10 difference between the two. Decisions, decisions.

I think the nerf hammer is in perfect scale for me, and I'm 6'4". Also, I can knock pictures off the wall with it at the other end of the hallway, and I've been using to scare away squirrels while I work on my roof. It makes me want to buy nerf tomahawks and join Foam Weapon League.

Yeah, I'm 6' and I absolutely love my Nerf Mjolnir. I have no problem at all with the scale. The comic Mjolnir has frequently been on the smaller side through the years depending on the artist.

That is saying EXACTLY the same thing as I posted above. The runes on that, the first pic (don't know where it came from), and the "lighting" Mjolnir toy all have that screwed up message. I noticed it on the lightning toy first, THEN got more upset when I saw it on the Nerf one. =|

Ended up getting the Nerf version over the weekend. I just had more fun playing with it in the store. My daughter got such a kick out of it, she was visibly upset when we got home and I didn't get one for her as well.
Let me clarify: she didn't want mine, thinking I got it for her. She wanted HER OWN HAMMER. Since she had been good, I went and got her one yesterday and now she's barking orders to Spider-Man and Iron Man on who they're going to rescue today. Oh, and mine now sits in my office for banishing Loki's demons from PCs and laptops.

Actually, what's on the toy is slightly more accurate - STORM is spelled right and the first I in Lightning is at least "ei" instead of L. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jD0BTZxs2j...ammerTimeC.jpg |

That first pic, sadly, is a STILL FROM THE MOVIE!! It's not Hasbro - it's Marvel! I can't believe it, really. I don't mind that they changed the inscription, but how in the world did they make so many mistakes?
