Haha I wondered. I was kind of hoping we'd have someone with hardcore lego skills on here. I used to think I was really good at creating out of legos... Until I started looking up various MOC's... It's kind of depressing at first hahah

It's definitely daunting. I would have never even thought to attempt a GLaDOS.
But as I get more and more into Lego, the bug to try to work on my own MOC grows stronger. You should share some of your creations on here! We can all build, learn, and grow together! |

So, anyone get any Alien Conquest sets yet? The alien minifigs are pretty cool.

I love how you can actually go online to lego's site and build what u want and buy the bricks needed to do it. anybody can make anything out of lego the problem is affording the cool and awesome pieces needed to build it.

Just a head's up for all UK Lego fans... The Sun newspaper is holding another week of free Lego set giveaways starting on Saturday. They haven't announced what's on offer, but if they're anything like their last promotion it will be worth the effort to collect them!

For the UK fans again, The Sun have posted up their list of the seven sets being given away next week... And have also opened up a competition for one lucky person to win the 3000 piece Lego Super Star Destroyer!!
See all of that below: The Sun | The Best for News, Sport, Showbiz, Celebrities | The Sun

Haven't checked these guys in a while, thanks for reminding me! Though while their minifigs are really well done, they're so expensive I don't think I could justify buying them! ^^;

I came across the site when I was looking for something else. I didn't know if anyone was aware of them or not.

No worries dude, I'd actually forgotten about them until you did. They do some great looking weapons, I'm actually tempted by that minigun set on their front page! :P

I pointed the Jurassic Park set out to my son, hoping to get him one for Christmas, but he was actually more partial to the set with the T Rex and helicopter.

An interesting thing happened to me last week at TRU. While checking out the Kre-O sets, I overheard a lady looking for G.I.Joe Legos.
When I explained to her that they didn't exist (well, not official versions anyway), she seemed a little confused. So I helped her try to find the next best thing in Legos. I mentioned the DC stuff, as well as Ninjago and the City stuff to mix-and-match. But the only other military-themed sets I knew about were MegaBlok's Halo series. Last I knew, she was on the phone with someone trying to figure out a replacement gift. By the way, when you go on Lego's website and search for "G.I.Joe" it returns 0 results and asks if you meant "joke." I thought that was hilarious. Also, TRU only had one lonely Hero Factory GL. I couldn't find any others on any of the shelves (not even price stickers to mark where they once were). Might explain why I found GL hanging out with the Kre-O and Halo guys.

Hasbro should produce Kre-O Joes.
I bet they will after Retaliation.

I'd almost guarantee it, especially now that they have a product that I truly feel can hold its own against Lego and MegaBloks.

Today I combined the Mega Bloks Spiderman 2-Pack I received from solidwii with the Green Goblin/Spiderman set into a much cooler set, but it required a bit of improvising and some spare LEGOs to get it together properly. Here are a couple pictures:
Fortunately I found the set that came with Green Goblin, so the one that iLegends73 tried to hook me up with has been vindicated. Thanks for trying though dude. You're a good guy. The awesome Doc Oc figure is worth every penny. Last edited by DogFashionDisco; 12-29-2011 at 08:45 PM.. |

Just got in my first big boy Lego set. I always eye these things in the store, in the catalog, online, but never pull the trigger due to just how pricey they are. And then there is plenty of regret when it disappears and the price has tripled on ebay. I've done some studying and research and decided on this one:
Although I REALLY wanted the Maersk Ship (already gone) and the Maersk Train (still around), I decided on this entry in the modular series. I have long missed out on the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer, and those prices are ridiculous on eBay. I found out that Lego puts out one new entry in the modular series each year. And eventually the oldest one disappears for good and you are left to the secondary market to get them. Well the Fire House is the oldest right now, so I decided to go ahead and drop the coin and get it before I can't anymore. The Maersk Train will be next, followed by the Grand Emporium. It feels real good to add this one to my collection. Now I just need to put together and appropriate work bench to work on Lego builds, and other geek miscellany (taking photos, doing dios, custom work, repairs, etc). |
