Hey y'all, 1st post since 2016. That day was my 1st post since like 2012. I've had to get out of the hobby a few times but I keep creeping back in. Competed this guy last week on a fluke trip to Target. Instantly got the urge to do some quick customizing...

Looks good, man. I still have Sludge and Snarl on pre-order, but people are finding them out in the wild and I'm getting twitchy. Awesome set, though. Never thought I'd see the day. I haven't had much time for toy photos, but I thought I'd make art with this stuff because the mania behind it just a few months ago was fascinating. And really weird. Someone sold their car for it. Insanity. |

Today marks the day of "Gotham" finally returning to TV. To celebrate that, I recreated a scene from a few months ago where Bruce had left Alfred in the middle of the woods to go to a party, and when Alfred arrived he was not amused and smashed the record player so that pieces of the record were flying everywhere. I made some from FIMO so that I could break them. And then the day was made awesome by a comment from the man himself: Last edited by Astra; 04-29-2018 at 12:36 AM.. |

Oh, man. It's really dumb, so I'll try and give you the short version. Essentially, the cartoon "Rick and Morty" created an absurd phenomenon by having the main character obsess over the Mulan Szechuan sauce from McDonalds that circulated for only a few months twenty years ago. And all of his time-travelling endeavors in the show revolved around getting back to 1998 for that sauce. So McDonalds was tickled by this and brought the sauce back last year to select stores. They underestimated what a pop culture monster this had become, and sent like twenty packets of the stuff to stores. This didn't go over well with the screaming, entitled internet masses. People chanted outside the stores, one jackass leapt onto a store counter and shouted lines from the show, it was a mess. The sauce was selling for obscene amounts on eBay, and someone admitted to selling their car. Seeing their mistake, McDonalds decided that they'd bring the sauce back full time. Fast forward a few months later, and there it is. Destroying something that was so precious a few months ago felt like the only artistic direction to go with it. So, yeah. I mean, the stuff is basically Teriyaki sauce. People are silly. And thanks! I like your setup as well, I wish I had more environment pieces and backdrops like that. Accessories really tie it all together. Last edited by Brownfinger; 03-01-2018 at 05:15 PM.. |

The sauce was selling for obscene amounts on eBay, and someone admitted to selling their car.... Destroying something that was so precious a few months ago felt like the only artistic direction to go with it. I wonder if it even made its way to Germany. Probably not. I'm also wondering what kind of building blocks you have behind it? Quote:
The wooden floor in the Alfred picture or the water in the one where Jim shoots Penguin are photo cardboards, there are also brick walls and sky and anything else, or you could look for scrapbook paper. It helps a lot to set up a scene. Last edited by Astra; 04-29-2018 at 12:35 AM.. |

The show itself has been dubbed into German, but I'm not sure if the sauce made it out that way. Of course people hyped it beyond all rationality, so now they're disappointed that it's just a sweeter version of Teriyaki. It is good, though. I don't go to McDonalds often, so I couldn't say whether or not it compares favorably to other McNugget sauces. The whole thing was a fascinating car crash.
Man, that fire escape/brick wall backdrop is beautiful. I need that, those are great shots. I've tried to get away from the white light box background that all my photos are taken in and do more outdoor stuff. We've only been to cold weather places on vacation recently, but I have some ideas for next time I'm on a beach. I took these last year, which I've already posted before. |

You need to get either Selina Kyle and Jim Gordon for the one in my picture above, to combine the two sets, or they also have a newer one now, repainted that comes with Azrael and Mr Freeze: And I haven't even shown you the chair that comes with Dr. Strange! You had me at "Selina Kyle", this is something I'll be looking into. I didn't realize they had such elaborate inclusions with their figures, clearly I'm not buying enough Diamond Select stuff. I have a few of their "junk pile" stands, but that's it.

I took those a couple weeks apart nearly five (!!!) years ago, they were the first toy photos I took with my cheap, crappy camera that I didn't hate. |

Love Love Love the ice cream picture! That is a real one, right? My what a big figure you have there!
This is what I love most about toy photography - people being silly, having fun, the weirder, the better. The bee one is indeed very cute and brought a smile to my face. Thank you! And in all this excitement I forgot to comment on DarkToyLord's fight in the subway station. Those stands do blend in really well and are almost invisible so on first glance one just sees the figure flying in the air. Looks good! Another thing you can look into Brownfinger: https://extreme-sets.com/ I have their Deranged Alley and the Asylum and I love them. Quote:
The desk in my next picture came with Ed Nygma from Gotham, and Scully has the same desk but in brown. The round fence was scratchbuilt by me, and I also made the police files. Somehow the woman that works for the show's prop department and has made the real police files found this on Twitter and also was excited. My five minutes of fame! The file cabinet and many other things I own, like hospital beds, a wheelchair, gurney or also the construction fence in my other pictures, these are 6" Wrestling figures accessories. Some sellers sell them loose. Last edited by Astra; 04-29-2018 at 12:33 AM.. |

There is also a special ground pack though that you can purchase, just different grounds. The asylum did come with one but still I am not happy as the cardboard is not flat but also warped, and if you try to put several next to each other they are all wobbly. Not sure yet what to do about that. Taping them together I guess. |

Nah, I heard a few days ago on the radio that McD’s re-released it nationwide. It’s no longer sacred like a McRib.
