While I love these figures, they really need to ditch the bobblehead aspect. One, it barely works or is noticeable. Two, all it results in is off-kilter heads and off-balance figures. It's not like you could even attach these somewhere you'd see the effect!

Speaking of which, most of you may know this already, but you guys are gonna wanna get New Mutants #98. It's going to sky rocket in terms of price soon. It's the first appearance of Deadpool.

That issue jumped in value back in 2006 or so when Deadpool starting spiking on the internet I don't think it's gonna really sky-rocket anymore. I'm sure it's value increased over time and the movie probably helped that but the movie already came out so there's no big reason for anybody to rationally raise its price any more. Of course it's a buyer's market so whatever people wanna pay I suppose.

Don't have a Hastings in your area ?
Plan a road trip. Lol, seriously. Road. Trip. Everything is the first three pics was 80-90% off at my local MovieStop/Hastings. A lot of these were in the middle, or towards the bottom, of my action figrue shopping list, so it was great to get them for next to nothing. Seriously, lol, 80-90% off ! I'm especially happy about that Interstellar Mego set from NECA, because unlike most of the others, it had been at the top of my list. I just couldn't bring myself to shell out $70 for Mego-style figures. I love KidRobot stuff, but I hate the prices, so I was thrilled to get some of their DC stuff so cheap. And yeah, that's the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo pack of Force Awakens behind the Cyborg Bearbrick. It was about $5 if I remember correctly This isn't even everything I picked up there. I didn't include the ReAction figures, posters, apparel, and other miscellany. I also lucked out and stumbled into the Spidey Civil War set at TRU. I am SOOOO excited to finally have the new MCU Spidey ! Plus, I had completely forgotten about the alternate Tony and Cap heads that came with this set, so that was a nice bonus. And, after stupidly passing on (and missing out on) this Curator set from Doctor Who a while back, I finally spotted another one at Barnes & Noble, and refused to risk losing it this time too.

What a score! Wish we had a Hastings. Closest one to me is in Yuma, about 3 hours away.

I believe it will vary from location to location whether they've started liquidation sales but yeah since all stores will be closed by the end of October they're likely to have some good deals. My local Hastings only found out on Saturday that they're closing so the sales won't start until closer to September. Overall it's a shame they're going out of business because my lcs is pretty crummy about getting a lot of figures and they're prone to price-jacking stuff immediately, Hastings was a good way to get DCC or NECA figures without paying extra.
Anyway congratulations, nice haul! My LCS is pretty good, but it was nice having a fall-back for DC Collectibles, and this place had a HUGE selection. Same with NECA figures. Between TRU and a couple of local shops, NECA stuff typically isn't too tough to come by, but it was still nice to have another resource. And, their Funko selection was absolutely incomparable. Plus, whenever I would begin to lament the end of the era of movie rental locations, MovieStop was a fun place to go and peruse the cases, watch trailers on the huge TVs, and talk to the staff about cool new upcoming movies.

A while back, Ross, TJM, and Marshall's were great for finding Transformers: Prime, Marvel Legends (Terrax and Arnim Zola waves), and Star Wars figures. Over the past couple of years, I had only spotted the occasional SW Rebels figure, or maybe a Transformer from the Generations line (I actually found Sky-Byte and Brainstorm for a great price at Ross last summer), so I had stopped checking those places on a regular basis. I may have to re-add them to my hunting route.

It's such a great set !
The first time I passed on it, I knew that I would get it eventually, but at the time, I wasn't crazy about paying an extra $20 or so just for the lenticular "painting". Now that I actually have it, I can't believe that I didn't jump on it immediately, because the "Gallifrey Falls" painting looks SOOOO cool !

My Hastings is only at 20% off action figures. So that really only puts the stuff at about retail price since most things they have are over retail price for toys.

Local-to-me Walmarts have only had the $20 figures and the Minis, not the $10 ghosts. I may need to go further afield. |
