The speeder is nice but that tape they wrapped it with will most definitely ruin the box |

The thing I hate about thrift stores is that when they get packaged Star Wars figures (or any figures really) they assume they've hit the jackpot and mark them up to an insane price. I was at a Sal Val the other day that had Revenge of the Sith figures behind the counter for 15 a piece...

I wouldn't consider that a 'thrift store' but more of an antique & collectibles shop.
I have a place like that here and they do the same thing minus ruining it with tape. They know they have a 'collectible' and mark them up. I have been to an actual 'thrift store' and bought action figures and whatnot at thrift store prices. I recently (few months ago) found a MOC Ghostbusters 'Rookie' for $5 and had I waited until the next day, would have got it 50% off but wasn't going to chance it. The fact that they feel they have a collectible there and put a ridiculous price on it, but proceed to bundle it with packaging tape ... tish tisk tisk ... |

Yeah it was at a Salvation Army, I called it a thrift store because its not like they have the choice to just take antique or collectibles, they just sell what people donate to them. But I can see your point, I've found some steals on toys there too but uniformed people just always assume any vintage starwars toys are worth a fortune. |

Getting real tired of seeing stuff like that. Does make me wonder if stores have actually started to notice this more often. I know some places have stepped up their game with keeping certain figure lines secure but it still seems like it just slips right under their noses in a lot of places.

I agree that something needs to be done, but it can't be on a retailer level. They just need to come up with better packaging. |

i think they just need to train their employees up in customer service better! i go to 22 different walmarts cuz of my job and majority of them are from the older crowd, so to speak, and they're all gabbing along not paying any mind to what they're doing half the time! i dont see it often here in east texas, but i know/i'm sure its common in other areas tho! if i wasnt pressed for time, i probably wouldve bought it to their attention! makes the other collectors out there (us) look bad too imo!

What are they gonna do though? Give each minimum wage employee the Marvel Encyclopedia, and tell them to memorize what each character looks like?

Seriously! I worked right next to a Toys R Us for four years when the CA:The Winter Soldier Legends came out, and I went in there almost every day I worked so the employees knew me pretty well Well, The second wave of the figures hit (with the Movie Cap, WS and Black Widow) and someone had bought Winter Soldier, took the figure out and crammed in the crummy WW2 Cap from the first wave, minus his shield! I took it up to the manager (who I had a good rapport with) and said "what's wrong with this figure?" well, spoiler alert, she didn't see the problem, so I told her to flip the box over and see what's wrong, and she said "ah, I see now", so I figured she'd take care of it... Long story short, it ended up in the clearance aisle for 18.99 with a handwritten note that said "shield missing" taped to it

Nice, but I couldn't see paying 80 dollars retail for only one Zord that doesn't really transform, let alone the 140+ it's up on Ebay for :P
