This Summer, loyal fans and collectors can finally bring home one of the most enduring animated adventures from the 80's when the long-awaited M.A.S.K.: The Complete Original Series DVD box set debuts nationwide on August 9, 2011 from Shout! Factory. This 12-DVD box set contains all 65 action-packed episodes known to fans as the original series aired in 1985, as well as insightful bonus features.

Led by multimillionaire Matt Trakker, the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand better known simply as M.A.S.K. defends the world against Miles Mayhem and his nefarious international criminal organization V.E.N.O.M., the very same group responsible for the death of Trakker's teenage brother. With his own son, Scott, and a secret strike force including his friends engineer Bruce Sato, courageous historian Hondo MacLean, mechanic Buddy Hawks, rocker Brad Turner, computer expert Alex Sector, stunt driver Dusty Hayes and beautiful martial artist Gloria Baker it's up to Trakker, equipped with special power-granting masks and a garage of special militarized vehicles, to keep the world safe from Mayhem and the villainy of V.E.N.O.M (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem).

That is so awesome. If this makes a big sound with dvd sales, maybe we'll get a reboot of the series! Imagine having TF Prime, GI Joe Renegades, New Thundercats, and MASK all on your DVR?

These were never released on dvd ? I wonder where my buddy got his from then . He sent me a set and they are dvd quality not something copied from old VHS tapes. I figured they were released on dvd long ago and these were copies of them..

Nice that they're releasing it on DVD but how can they call it "The Complete Series" when they're missing 10 episodes?

But this release isn't called "The Complete Series". It's called "The Original Series."

The last 10 episodes were part of the second season and called "The Racing Series". The first season (65 episodes) is known as the "Original Series". Season 2 of M.A.S.K. had a radically different theme from the first season (and IMHO that's what killed the show).

Also, Shout! Factory did not acquire the rights to the second season (it's owned by Cookie Jar Entertainment).

EDIT: This is definitely on my Must-Buy list, too.

Shit I never knew about the second season. I was only a casual MASK fan as a kid but I do have fond memories.

I will absolutely be picking this one up. Not too many shows from my childhood left that they need to release now. It would be cool to see a DVD full of old 80's commercials...I'm sadistic like that.

I'd love to see something like that as well, mostly because I find them hilariously bad.

The Nostalgia Critic did a couple videos where he reviewed commercials from the 80's and 90's, if you're feeling masochistic.

I can recall watching the series on T.V., as well as playing with the Thunderhawk. I always wanted to own the Rhino (my grandfather & father both being truck drivers)...

I'll have to see if I can find the series online and see if the nostalgia I have for the series has clouded my memory of the series itself. If it's pretty good, I may just pick up the DVD set!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I barely watched the series, but I always wanted the semi truck that I saw in the commercials. That thing was awesome.

You know, I just recently started watching this again (had a bunch recorded on VHS tapes from back in the day). Still an enjoyable kid's show.

This is just my opinion, and we all know what they say about those, but the appropriate era toy commercials should be a part of any toyline cartoon dvd release. TFs, Joes, Thundercats, MOTU, MASK, and any I'm not thinking of should have ALL come with commercials for the toys for the timeframe the show was on. I think that would have just been the icing on the cake for the dvd sets.
