Had high hopes for that Gambit but glad I preordered the Mezco instead. Not feeling their choice of jacket. Looks like a solid choice for a MCU Cap though.

Really have to think on Gambit, I think this one looks great but was thinking of the Mezco. I already have the Revoltech and may stick with that depending.

Gonna have to wait and see how the soft goods turn out on the Spiderverse figures first before I think about preordering Gambit.

This is the Gambit I was waiting for. Sold off my select one once Mezco announced there’s but then I figured Mafex would release one so held off and it’s exactly what I wanted. I actually like the look of the coat. It seems light, is wired and won’t hinder articulation. I also tend to think of Gambit’s jacket as not being leather for some reason so it suits my own view. Held sculpts are less detailed than Mezco and will no doubt be even softer and less painted upon release but the expressions and likeness are spot on for me and I love that sweeping hair. The torso joint is also a plus over Mezco so glad I waited. Now give us a female X-Man next!
What can I say about Cap? He’s undeniably the best looking Cap in 1:12. The unmasked head could do with being upgraded by one of those downsized hot toys casts but I won’t bother with that as I’ll eventually have the hot toys figure as well. Hopefully Thor and Iron Man are just as good. Fingers crossed for a screaming Thor head. |

I just lost all enthusiasm for the One: 12 Gambit. I do like that jacket better but this Mafex is the whole package for me. Hope the wait isn't too long.

If you're a Gambit fan, you're pretty much covered with all the various lines.

That unmasked head looks more like Loki than Captain America haha

Really want to pre-order Gambit but after watching the hot-garbage review that was Cyclops and Wolverine i don't want to drop $100 without seeing someone review and compare him to the $20 ML first

What was the issue with those other releases? I don’t have any mafex.
The coat on gambit.....SUCKS. Who ever said, yup release those photos needs a new eye. Captain America looks ok, the head really does look Loki. The hammer accessory almost makes it worth it. |

Gambit's upper body proportions seem a bit off, especially without the coat.

Gambit looks uncomfortable. Like he really want's to go on this mission but his back is killing him and if Cyclops realises he'll bench him.

I GOT 3 OF THEM. The first two I had to return for exchange. The third one I got had almost all the same problems. But it barely passed the grade. Also, loose feet. Which was also a little problem with the comic spider man. *Robo, fwoosh guy, found a good fix for the arms. Shave down the shoulder a little and the peg should fit tighter. I need to try it myself, it looked really legit* Cyclops. Sent the first back. Waiting on the second. Loose hands, heads, and I had a major defect with the wrist joint. The two pieces that click together to form the joint was off set. It wouldn't click together. Defective piece. The wrist would only move a little and felt would easily break.... UPDATE: Keeping my second Cyclops. That damn left wrist joint isn't fully set though. At least it is evenly spaced this time so it functions. The heads and fists slip pretty easily. But its "okay". I've also heard about knee and hip joints being loose. Oh yeah that reminds me...lol...my first wolverine had a loose shoulder. Couldn't hold his arm up. The QC is definitely annoying. I've neverrr trusted it will show up all good. I'm getting embarrassed with the online returns and exchanges. One little issue here and there and everywhere. These amazing figures ruined by these things. I don't get it. That being said, these have to be my xmen. The wolverine I kept is somewhat delicate to pose but it works. The spiderman I have wears the magnetic feet always because those hold well. The joints are pretty good too. Not OUTSTANDING, which they should be for the price. But they work. I'm really picky so if they work for me they should suit most fine. We'll see if the next cyclops I get "works". As for Gambit....worried about the coat...but I'll buy if the cyclops works out. Looks cool enough. I want a MAFEX XMEN TEAM SO GOD DAMN BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by JerpJerp; 05-31-2020 at 01:48 AM.. Reason: update |

This review of Cyclops compared to the much cheaper Hasbro version points out some of its problems...

I like that Anthony is really non biased with his reviews (which is the reason I watch them,) but I also tend to watch them with a grain of salt as he nitpicks and is never truly happy with anything. I've seen reviews of his where the toy in question will come with two headsculpts, 12 sets of hands, power effects, 6 weapons and a candy bar, and he gives them an 8 out of 10 for the category.

Wolvies shoulder to bicep joint was connected with a small peg for some reason. The pegs are loose so it's slips easily out of the shoulder. Or it doesn't hold at all. I think the trend is with the left shoulder.

Wolverine's should issue was so fucking small I can't believe people were crying about it. It slipped out once and once I knew what the issue was it never happened again while handling it. My Cyclops is great. |

There was literally nothing 'hot garbage' about those 2 releases. They're the best 6" Cyclops and Wolverine's available. I'm absolutely happy about them and was fine with the price point.

This Gambit looks to be the most comic 90s accurate for the scale. Probably will get it. Would have have liked a smirk for the neutral face. The Amazing Yamaguchi version is great too but very manga japanese style. Mezco just never liked the proportions and most of them are bit stocky to my eye but its just my opinion.
The Cap, not going for it, although I am going for their Infinity War version as I feel its the best version. The Figuarts one for Endgame final battle I think is superior to this upcoming one. I will give credit that the masked heads look better but not by a big enough margin, but the unmasked, is off- could be a bit more blonde but it currently looks like a young Damien Lewis. For unmasked headsculpts MAFEX nails it sometimes but not nearly as often as Figuarts. Like most, the QC issues with MAFEX make me not preorder, few very rare exceptions. But if its 3-5x the price of a Marvel Legends it needs to be about 3x ore more better. |
