Okay I thought there was already a discussion about this but I can't find it.
When you guys link to TFW or to HISSTANK is the expectation that we respond to the post here on Toyark or to go to the original site and post there. I think most of us are on the other two sites as well so what is the expectation. Personally, I think I've been responding to the original thread on the original forum so that the response is part of the larger discussion. I'm glad someone finally brought up what I've brought up twice already. It doesn't promote discussion on these forums, just the ones it links to. Doesn't make sense to me, imo.

Hey Tony_Bacala/Fellow Toyark Staff,
Regarding Toyark.com Threads. ^==It seems like at the present time, Toyark.com is a bit, please forgive me, spamming the Toyark Section of TFW2005.com and bumping other discussion threads into not being visible on the first page (for example, Toyark.com has 6 threads at the time, that seems excessive). I hope me bringing this to your attention helps and while I understand Toyark.com's purpose of being, the threads...I think need their own section on TFW2005 or such. I would also like to bring an example comment of someone else being bothered by these threads (please note, this isn't my comment): Quote:

To this, I kinda agree. Being an avid reader of the established threads on TFW as well as a news submitter here, I've held off on posting a few news postings, waiting for a "quiet period" so that my own news postings wont join the already four or five postings on the front page of TFW's toyark and move the other discussion threads aside. It's a bit embarrassing as well to read two of the news posts and realize that they consist of very out of date information on long gone products.

This way, discussion is promoted on both sites and depending on the traffic, could turn into wildly different discussions. As for the TFW Toyark forum, I haven't really been there since this site launched.

I've seen similar complaint threads on hisstank as well.
It seems to me that if you're going to post everything from toyark on TFW and Hisstank anyway then why make the extra trip to toyark? I'll get all the same news and info and it'll be on the two collections that I focus the most on anyway. |

While we are always evaluating ideas, the Toyark threads posting into the Toyark section on TFW is beneficial to both sites. Some of those threads have caused further discussion on TFW. Many of those threads are bringing new info to people who may not know where to find that info. But the big thing is that it is bringing new traffic to the Toyark. And bringing new traffic here is a top priority. So, for the foreseeable future, Toyark news being posted on TFW is going to continue as the benefit outweighs the negatives.

Sorry, it's not currently in the plans. Not going to say never, but don't look for it anytime soon. While the vocal minority may be annoyed for a bit, they'll get used to it. The amount of traffic the cross promotion brings in shows that there are a good amount of people who are using it as had been hoped.

I know they don't have to click the link here, but if they are interested in the topic, they kinda have to, to get the whole story.

I know it is annoying for you regular TFW/Hisstank guys, but just bear with us for now, we are trying to build the best site with as many members as we can. Thanks for your feedback

I don't really think it's a case of people actually using it, but more that they have to click that link to here if they want to see the whole post, because the whole post from the thread here isn't displayed in the thread on TFW or elsewhere.

Which brings them here and hopefully some of those people are interested in what else the Toyark has to offer.

Thanks for your feedback I have to disagree since it is annoying in my opinion and if you can get a sub forum made on Toyark.com..would still allow you to build up Toyark.com without turning TFW2005's Toyark's Section into a News Dumping Ground (no offense to anyone meant). Just remember...TFW2005 did come first and I want it to be treated with respect as much as Toyark.com, Fair is fair after all. -TF2 |

A sub-forum will not produce the same results. Sub-forums, as a whole, are generally ignored. I've been doing this a long, long time and I know from experience. A sub-forum would kill the whole point. It's not about who came first, though the Toyark name is as old as TFW2005, if not older. TFW2005 is Transformers first and everything else second. This site is everything else first. We're using a non-TF area of our forum to help get members to a non-tf sister site.
And it's not spamming the forum. You're misusing the word spam. Since those threads can all lead to discussion, they are not spam. They are completely relevant to the Toyark forum as a whole. The Toyark forum on TFW2005 is an extension of Toyark.com now, and not vice versa. |

(I know Toyark.com existed before with its own website/forum, the comment was referring to the newer site/forum not name.) Example #1 - Page #2 of TFW2005's Toyark Section Example #2 - Page #3 of TFW2005's Toyark Section As The Above Links show, There are Toyark.com threads and they are filling up the section without any discussion being done in them (a.k.a Empty Threads). Could I ask how long will this last before a Sub-forum for this news is made or some kind of compromise or something on those lines? I just want both TFW2005 & Toyark.com to be treated equally. Thanks in advance for respecting my opinion as I respect your's, -TF2 (It took me a while to think of a response to your reasonable post hence the time length.) Why aren't the HissTank and TFW boards simply brought under the Ark as the defacto sections for those toys? Have like the first page of those sites' threads show up here in the respective Ark sections, and clicking a thread just takes the reader to that site? Even easier, just have the Joe and TF section headers in the Toy Lines menu just go straight to those sites and do away with seperate sections here.
The simple fact of having two sections on what is at heart just one big website (despite what various pages are named) is just duplication of effort at best and plain wasteful and confusing at worst. I dunno about others, but the needless complexity of it all is a big turn-off to me and makes me avoid those sections entirely. And thanks for the heads-up on the diff between profile pic and avatar. It's not that I'm old and stupid; it's that I'm old and drunk! |

Also, it'd be helpful if the Latest Posts showed what forum each post is in. Many thread titles are pretty vague when you don't know what line is being talked about beforehand. And I agree there needs to be like 20 of them listed instead of just 10.

Personally, I would like to see a system of self-moderation. I think that it would be more convenient for mods if everyone could just mod each other, and actual mods could just check-in every once in a while.

I'd suggest moving that eBay bar that's after the first post in every thread. At a glance it looks like there is only one post in the thread. Depending on screen res, some people might not see past that without scrolling.

I think all of the TFW & Hisstank news postings are getting pretty out of hand. If you're looking for the Toyark to just be a relay to the other sites in your network, then it makes sense, but if you want this site to survive on it's own (or gain traffic) I think cutting down on the "spamming" of your own site would help. Either that or get rid of that preview view on the right hand side, because all anyone ever sees is "Transformers News from.." and it looks like no one ever posts in that thread other than those news links. And let's be honest, everyone who cares enough to frequent these sites (who's interested in Transformers, Joes, Tcats, etc) goes to check those sites anyway. It's not like all of the sudden I forgot about Transformers.

I agree 110% with Optimus but all of that has already been discussed with nothing really done about it.

Can there be a specific suggestion box thread where all ideas whether they are postive or negative can be thrown in and be easily located on the forum page maybe with a minor tab? This thread is not really used while meanwhile there are a lot of things that forum members have to say.

Can we increase the limits of PM box to 100 messages? I know there's a way to archive messages and I always save my sent messages which I already do.
