At least one of his more recent designs, he runs around with an Anubis mask. Quote:
Hasbro pretty much made their SDCC a complete waste. Sure, Purple Man is my favorite of the set and I prefer the Abomination colors from that, but there was no need for it to exist at all. They could have just done a Dare Devil set and had Purple Man in that with Kingpin and Bullseye.

Regarding the furry green Jackal look, in some cultures jackal is a word that's synonymous with demon or monster and not just the name of a type of canine so maybe that context is where the name was meant to come from.

There's also folklore of jackals being grave robbers, akin to cloning dead folks.
I'm disappointed with Shocker. His quilted padding is merely painted on, the vibro-gauntlets just look like normal armor instead of tech gauntlets, the charged-up energy effect color is too close to his costume color, & they didn't make a new blasting effect for him. Sandman with veins still looks wrong.

I fail to see how the quilted pattern on Shocker being painted is a negative.

Quilts have three dimensions. Hasbro shouldn't cheap out with just paint.

It's a toy. And why would they go out of their way to sculpt an entirely new body that can never be reused?

Furthermore, I'm not sure that Shocker's suit literally has quilt qualities. Especially since this is his new suit it's possible he wears something smooth but keeps the grid pattern because he just likes it and wants to keep what recognition he has, the guy's insecure.

The Shocker was pioneer in having a practical costume as the padding was for his protection. Making it a 2-D pattern instead of texture is less interesting & a cop-out by Hasbro. You'd think they could afford to put in as much new tooling as needed for a classic villain.

Looking at his modern Superior Foes of Spider-Man costume (that's what this figure is based on), it looks very much like the criss-cross patterning is 2D. So a painted pattern works, at least for this figure. Also, at least when it comes to Marvel Legends, Hasbro doesn't make new tooling for a whole body for a non-BAF/non-MCU figure unless they're absolutely sure they can use it again in future, and even with those exceptions I stated, they often try to find ways to reuse it. Making a new body with a baggier-ly-clothed torso and chainmail arms/legs? So far, they've already used it for three characters (Hobgoblin, Dreadknight, Green Goblin), and can use it for even more in future. A body with a raised quilt pattern on specific areas which are specific to the classic costume of Shocker? Not much reuse potential.
With all the newer bodies that Hasbro is introducing/plans on introducing, I'd say that an excuse like this, to reuse an old one and recoup some costs on that, are just fine.

Is it just me or does the Jackal body not scream "Perez Beast". Just need a Beast head sculpt on that body plus the blueish paint job & there ya go.

Cons
No web shooting hands poor paint application of a great design Overall Symbiote Spider-Man is kind of a let down. Between the awful white paint application and the missing web shooting hands it’s one of the few Spider Man figures that Hasbro has done that did not live up to the hype. If you plan |
