I went into a Walgreens the other day and bought a Cap series ML and instead of Cap in the box there was a old school ML psylocke in it. Has anyone else run into this before? And are those worth anything?

That's worth nothing more than whatever the figure goes for loose on eBay because that's the result of figure swapping. Some ass wanted whatever figure the box says it's supposed to be but didn't want to pay for it so they returned the box with an old figure they don't want anymore and the person accepting returns didn't even bother looking at was in the box to check if it was the right item so the ass got away with it. Toy companies are good enough at what they do for the most part that you shouldn't be seeing an old Psylocke in a new-ish Captain America series box. It should be noted that there's also no reason an old Toybiz figure would be put out in a Hasbro box like that unless some ass figure swapped.

You got ripped off by a figure swapper. Basically someone bought a figure, took what they wanted out of the package, and stuck a figure they didn't give a crap about into the package and returned it to get their money back. Hasbro's "collector friendly" packaging has unfortunately fueled this phenomenon. This practice is very common with Hasbro's Black Series figures as well. Those that do this are thieves...make no mistake about it. I'd see if I can get your money back if I were you. Also...remember, unless you are dealing in vintage figures like 70s Star Wars, packing errors and mispacks are 9 times out of ten worth nothing, often at times less than what the original item was worth. No way a Toybiz figure ends up in a Hasbro box unless a thief be thieving. |

Love how they immediately ask if it's worth anything Stick around here kid, you'll learn a few things (or don't, seeing as how I'm guessing you only signed up to find out if it's worth flipping haha)

i don't think it was swapped in the store, because there are no signs of tampering plus the BAF piece is the same as if it were the original figure but it just looks like a generic version.

It was just a question Black Arbor no need to be douchey. Check your attitude at the door. I'm a huge collector of S.H. FIGUARTS and other. Your probably a troll who lives in your mother and fathers basement.

In that case I would definitely buy it. It's probably worth $500-$600 dollars.

Being douchey right back at him doesn't solve anything, it only perpetuates the cycle of douchey-ness. Sad to say that just because they left the BAF piece doesn't negate a swapper. There's no way an 11 year old figure from a company that no longer exists, ended up in new Hasbro packaging without the help of some shady jerk. I would be shocked to hear that the molds for that Psylocke figure were still around, let alone in use |

I am the king of being douchey. And I will defend a fellow Arker in second. Black Arbor is one of us. You joined just to ask for value. Also it wasn't done INSTORE. It was bought, taken home, carefully removed with razor blades, surgically replaced. Perhaps the figure was needed for a custom and not the BAF part. Whatever the reason, a figure from several years ago from another manufacturer didn't simply find its way into a modern box on its own.
Go on though, put your uber rare figure up on eBay and book you a holiday, because that shit is paid for! Congratulations on your score sir!!!!! And for the record.... I live under Black Arbors mums house, not him. edit: welcome to the Ark. Hope this doesn't put you off. Not all are dicks, I am, but not these guys. We see it ALL the time. Some fanboy sees something, joins here and asks for a free appraisal. They join simply to become educated so they can flip said item for more money and have a providence to aid them in their research to validate their score being worth something much more than they paid for it two days earlier. So we get a little irritated and defensive when we see these types of posts. Please don't feel that they were attacking you. In fact, there are tonnes of S.H. Figuarts collectors here and some wonderful threads. In fact, my boy 323 Raf rules that roost, stop in and say hello there. As for THIS thing you found, you got took. End of. Done and dusted.

Well, and I say this not to be snarky or condescending, but next time you join a forum, maybe introduce yourself, take part in a discussion or two, THEN you can ask questions like "is this a legitimate error or an asshole thief repack" and THEN you can know whether to ask if it's worth anything. Again, we see this all the time where someone joins just to ask if something is worth flipping and then they're never heard from again, so you'll understand if we interpret those actions as ones of scalpers...
