Gwenpool originated from a series of variant comic-art during 2015's Secret War event, that represented the various Gwen Stacy-fied characters throughout the patchwork multiverses of Secret War's Battleworld. |

No, Gwenpool was absolutely 100% cancelled. Marvel just gave the comic two issues to wrap up their story arc instead of killing it outright. The writer of the series publicly commented on it and everything: Marvel Cancelling 'Gwenpool'

Yeah, I consider myself to be fortunate we at least got 25, but sadly, the series was indeed slated to continue past that point if it had the readership.

I believe that is correct. I think it was due to Gwen Stacy's surge in popularity from the Amazing Spider-Man movie, it started not much different than the usual variant cover collection but those two just hooked enough people that they were fleshed out into complete ideas. I could be wrong.
Despite some aesthetic issues I have with the figure (she looks too much like her appearance in the Howard the Duck backup stories, and not enough like her solo series appearances, also the lack of an unmasked head is kinda glaring with how much she has her mask pulled down), I am so happy that we got her, and with all the unique molding she has, to boot. My wife's even happier, since she fell in love with the comic, and now Gwen is sitting front-and-center of our Marvel Legends display. I really hope the MAFEX Gwenpool is halfway decent, because that one's perfectly Gurihiru-styled.

Yeah, I have it on preorder as a late birthday/early Hanukkah surprise gift for my wife. I'm just worried because I've heard a couple horror stories about Mafex figures, and that's a big chunk of change for our current budget.

I haven't heard of any major QC issues for any MAFEX issues for a while, I think they've mostly got that fixed at this point.

The Spider-Punk is a surprise hit for me too. I also end up liking him a lot more than I think I would. However, that guitar strap has to be a "con" for me. It's not removable and it always hang weird when he's "playing" the guitar because the strap is made of pretty rigid plastic.

Spider-Punk is such an out-there figure that I'm so happy he made the cut. Can't wait to get him myself.
Side note, and not a criticism, but I'm amused that, for all the album booklets used for backdrop posters here (a nice touch), none of them are punk bands. I figure it was just what you had on hand that looked good, and like I said, no criticism there. Just find it funny. I hope so, because Gwenpool looks perfect.

Gwenpool will be my first MAFEX figure as well, and I'm glad to hear that their QC issues are rectified. I really can't wait.

Great, my GwenPool came with 2 fight cellphone holding hands and only no left sword holding hand. So She can only hold one sword. Will have to search out a second one.

I love this Mysterio figure. He's always been one of my favorite Spidey villains and for me the classic green-glove color scheme is a welcome change from the gold-glove scheme we see just about every other toy of him use. I for one would find it spectacularly grand if Bruce Campbell played him in the MCU, even if he's not the main attraction villain of the movie, just because of that released story-board art for Raimi's planned 4th film.

Anyway, moving on from unclean heathens who don't like Gwenpool...
Yeah, I love this Mysterio figure as well...have a major soft spot for some of Spidey's goofy rogues' gallery, and Mysterio is among the upper echelon of them. It's really just a fantastically well-done figure with a perfect color scheme and sculpt, which I'm surprised that Hasbro put so much effort/tooling/money into. I mean, who else could they use that body for? And that head sculpt...brilliant. I know some people are weirded out by it, but I think that Lovecraftian nightmare under Mysterio's globe is just amazing. After all, he's a special effects guy and a master of illusion, so why wouldn't he use smoke and mirrors to make it look like something truly horrifying was under there instead of just his regular, everyday mug? Also, I've seen variants where his head sculpt is green instead of white, and I honestly prefer the white head. With the green one it's just too much green on the figure overall, and under the globe the white head gives the appearance of the globe being filled with mist, with something weird/unsettling inside that's just BARELY visible...so creepy. Bonus points for the green smoke attachments that clip onto Mysterio's legs (that, like the head, have tentacles growing out of them). Mysterio and Gwenpool are the best figures in this wave, IMO. This isn't me complaining at all and I brought this up in the Marvel 6" thread back when I got the figure but I find it weird that the attachments don't match. The one totally goes with the head since it has the octopus tentacle but then the other has spiders and like a snake tail. Technically it doesn't have to match but the fact that it doesn't is interesting.
