Which Marvel line has the most variety in Marvel characters made?
For example Minimates, Universe, Legends, Select and etc.... I think Minimates may take the lead on that, granted they're small and are able to produce a lot more, and their exclusives are pretty cool. If I had to pick just 1 line I would go for them. |

I would say Select is last place for variety. If you count both Toybiz and Hasbro for Legends then I'm not sure if MU has more variety, if you're counting Hasbro's legends as separate from Toybiz then MU might have more.

MU all the way, if counting all 3.75" Marvel lines. All the specialty lines, movie lines, cartoon lines, Marvel Legends Super Hero Showdown, MU and MI then 3.75" takes the cake. Clocks in with over 500 different figures in the scale.
Line- although I am not sure, I would say the Mini Mates as mentioned by Exo is a safe bet. Under an umbrella term- Marvel Legends, from two different companies over a couple decades. Scale- would have to go to 3.75" with its many offerings through the years in the kid friendly size.

i think both legends and universe have a TON of figures compared to select.... while select's quality is a higher level, they really lack on the characters department and they really only try pushing movies figures as opposed to making more comic related figures.

I am not very familiar with either character rooster in ML. Just knowing that Toy Biz made Dragon Man makes me lean towards them. Also Toy Biz pretty much owned Marvel (Google MARVEL BANKRUPTCY 1990's if you don't know the story) and could do what and who they pleased. Now that Marvel is a financial juggernaut and doesn't need bailing out, Hasbro has to have character releases approved. I do t know the ins and outs but I am a shareholder and read the reports from Hasbro, there is a lot of back and forth as to who and when and if a character gets released from their license owners now days.
I am sure Hasbros hands are tied often with current storylines and the recent blacklisting of all things Fantastic Four and most things X-Men related. Hasbro may say they can make X figures and FF characters but I suspect the truth is somewhere in between. Surely there has to exist a wiki list from each line that show who and what. I know it isn't a question of sheer numbers but obscurity. I am interested myself in seeing the results. I know in 3.75" in the upcoming wave we are getting a Korg, that's pretty random I think. Also Vance Astro, Yondu and Lockjaw slated for next spring. If rating weirdness on a current scale, then I think the 3.75" take the current crown. Just my thoughts. Right or wrong just throwing it out there......

I think Toybiz overall, Mostly because toybiz had comic and movie lines which were fairly big.
But obviously long-term is Hasbro will have more variety as their still designing figures etc and have gone more niche with their characters i would say. Thinking of it really i take what i said on toybiz back, and say hasbro simply because you can buy a figure that looks cool , and have no idea who he/she is until you look him up on the web. I'm taking a guess you meaning variety in characters right? EDIT: Plus if you got the same character there does seem to be variety on the suits they wore, i.e WW2 Cap, Classic Cap, Ultimate Cap etc [for hasbro] but this example i would say for ironman their are more of certain characters. Well Korg was a main character in Hulk comics for a while, so it's not that random. And Yondu recently was in a massive film, so really it's only Vance that's a completely random character. Anyone that's even seen an Inhumans cover loves Lockjaw, he's just a giant dog, with great kid appeal. He'll be the next Groot when that film comes out.
