I think the sales have been good so there is less of it as product flows. Problem is people still have that mindset that things are "rare" so they will overpay to get Davedevil or someone else viewed as "scalpable" as soon as the wave hits out of desperation. Hopefully when they see them at store over store for months they will get over that impulse.

I think the problem is not so much scalping, that is just people trying to get some money. The problem is the swap assholes that get a figure and take the part or figure and replace it with something else and return it. I could even understand just stealing a figure or BAF part, but the whole replacing it is just a total d-bag move. |

Agreed. I can get any legends figure from the past 2 years or so fairly easily (seen quite a few on clearance) except for black widow from TWS.

I forgot what the process was, but can't anyone take any figure and just make a duplicate of it that is all white or something and mark it off as a prototype on eBay?

Almost all of the legends figures have been easy to find, even the women. I'm sure spidergwen will not be hard to find but who knows.
I would call them a thief more than a scalper I bet. My TRU beefed up security on the legends with a lockbox and electronic device after getting ripped off so many times. I agree that that's true of almost all the figures from the past two years, except for Magneto and Storm from the X-Men TRU Exclusive wave. Those two often go for triple digits on eBay. |

Seriously? It's hard to imagine that. Do you have a picture? Crazy to think that Legends would 'cause such a problem versus other $20 price-point figures.

When I posted that, I was making reference to the fact that Black Widow at the time was extremely rare due to Hasbro's crappy swap figure distribution, and a lot of people were stealing both Widow and the BAF peice and generally being assholes. So, my thought was that they should do away with the swap figure process altogether, and just release all the figures at once, with duplicate BAF pieces for certain figures that might be more popular (which they more or less have done since.) That way, everyone got the figure and piece they wanted or needed.

What's really terrible though, is when that mentality goes out to retailers. Certain sites (like Toy Wiz and Toysource for example) will often at times sell certain figures with incredible mark-ups, which puts ideas into the heads of others out there who happen to possess certain figures, causing them to do the same. And we, the consumer, possessed by our impulses, end up catering to them the same way. Wise words (verbatim) from the Toy Hunter Jordan Hembrough himself..."Just because it's listed on ebay as being worth something, it doesn't mean that it is. It is only worth what you are willing to pay for it." |

Not that hard to imagine. I have zero reason to make something like that up lol. I also found out a werewolf was stealing the figures. I scoped him out and caught him and unmasked him and it was old man Johnson, the stores assistant manager! The manager was so grateful (and is a model on the side) and she offered to sleep with me but I declined cuz I'm married... Ok I made all of that up except for the security boxes/device. In all seriousness my area has been hit up really hard by a baf thief (TRU, wal Mart and Fred Meyers/Kroger grocer have a repeat offender or offenders). |

Read my previous post on how things are dealt with here in Florida. Honestly I love shopping in stores but going into local trus piss me off tremdously. Those spider wraps are useless in stores with garden shears I've seen big ticket items in Walmart cut free of them. And sadly I just found out the plastics are useless against screw drivers or people that buy or I guess steal the magnetic keys. The mag keys are only 30$ online. Lol, sorry, man, didn't mean to come off as accusatory. I was just interested in seeing the set up. When you said lockbox, I was imagining the gated boxes/racks that some stores keep electronics or video games in. But still, those pictures just seem so bizarre to me. I used to work at Best Buy and we would reserve boxes like that for $60+ items, or items so small, you could just slip into your pocket.
From what I remember, if you cut the wires, the device's alarm will go off. Last edited by deathofthelines; 07-14-2015 at 10:20 PM.. |

Kind of surprised that Stryfe isn't worth that much considering that's the only Marvel figure we've gotten from him in any line.
Wow that's crazy in seattle too... Wow really, but don't they have camera's in the stores? So would take time to open them up even with a mag key...

I've shopped at this location since 92 I probly know the store better than the store manager. There's not single worker that's been there more than 5 years. If I could move endcaps and shelving I could recreation the look of the store back in 97. Ive seen every hiding place collectors hide items for later purchase. Hell the ps2 I owned was the floor model people played demoes with for 3 years. It's basically a home way from home for me my happy place that is actually real.
