Hey guys, I'd finished both Super Skrulls and finally got a decent dark backdrop to shoot em against. Figured I'd try my hand at sculpting parts while learning how to cast so I'd say this project was worked on over the course of about 4-5 months which was mostly me futzing around with materials and going back to the drawing board a couple times. I hope you guys enjoy the finished product.
Questions, feedback and critiques are much appreciated. Recipe is at the bottom. Body - Cable torso and legs. Head - sculpted using Super Sculpey Firm then molded and cast. Arms - Fists sculpted from scratch with Super Sculpey Firm with Apoxe Sculpt touch ups. Biceps and Elbows were modded Cable arms merged with XMO movie Wolverine's hips then sculpted over with Apoxie Sculpt. also molded and cast. Lower Legs (invisible) - clear resin casts of original legs. Shoulder Flair - Apoxie Sculpt Paint - Testors Acrylics Flames - resin casts of chopped up flame bits from a Toybiz movie Human Torch figure. Last edited by NoodleChow; 05-15-2012 at 05:12 PM.. |

That turned out REALLY well. I assume you didn't use a Skrull soldier head because it would have looked too small?

Thanks Iceman! and yeah that head would have been a bit small and I'd wanted a more grimacing expression.

Kinda makes me miss the days when there was only ONE Super-Skrull and he was an actual threat.

Awesome figures! My only suggestion is the skrull that has "Thing" hands cut out or make some small rock sections to cover part of the forearm in a random pattern to make it seem like a gradual transformation.

So awesome. Makes me wish Hasbro would make one. One of the F4's best villains.

haha thanks TheSymbiote. glad you both like it. =]

thanks LM, you got a steady hand too to get that AA of yours looking badass in his x-force colors. also love how you put your SS together to go with your massive skrull army. Quote:
also had maybe hoped to make normal hands to swap on there but ended up scrapping that idea. i'll give it a shot with apoxie bits when i end up making another one. =) Quote:

thanks Saint Phe, love seeing the work you do in your thread too. your SS is ingenious with the parts used. but yeah, figured this project would force me to sculpt something since i used to do some traditional and cg sculpting. been trying to get back on that wagon. haha thanks, mr. Dagger. thanks, cap'n martian410. man, thanks Ninjinister. checked your figurerealm account and i dig your SS. any custom is a good custom. Quote:
haha always, DFD. dunno what my next ones are gonna be but have a bunch of stuff on the back burner till i have the right parts like Resident Evil ones and a spreadsheet filled with marvel characters. also hoping to make some primary justice league members with MU figures. i think i'm hoping to make a huge groot and fix up rocket raccoon's articulation next. also waiting on a buddy to ship some parts so i can finally start vision using that cyclops you sent. same for an x-factor havok with another cyclops sent by fancy pants. |

I'd say get yourself some 6'' skrulls! Superskrull is one of the baddest mofos in Marvel- and his antagonistic respect with Ronan in Annihilation is something to see. Plus he can make invisible fire, the sick bastard! |

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the DC stuff, and I've been keeping an eye on your work in case you posted Vision, I'm sure it'll rock.
