I haven't cared about anything Mattel has done for several years now but these new figures are piquing my interest. Especially Hawkgirl, Batman Beyond, Black Canary, and John Stewart GL. Hopefully Mattel will continue adding articulation to future figures.

Spoiler and others do look freaking beautiful. And the articulation and range on them looks Marvel Legends level to even the newer ankle tilt styles. Loving it. I may have to consider picking some characters up in this style. These look fantastic.
We already know you blue screened a long time ago. No need to keep reminding us. |

The paints look better and the head sculpts look better than legends. I can live without double jointed Elbows for certain characters....but feel for a Batman, it's a must and same with Flash.
It looks like they have ankle rockers.....but someone else said they don't. I don't see the pins...they look Legends like. Paints look better than legends and so does the sculpts. Not sure about actors likeness.....but got to say, happy to see these babies. |

I will say, I think a lot of the faces on modern comic Legends have a sameyness that I'm not seeing here.
It's such a strange feeling to see so many Mattel figures I want to buy. |

Everyone is a ninja today... even though the real “ninjas” as seen in movies (clad in black masks and robes) never existed. Read in a book a few years ago by a guy researching the ninja phenomenon. It was actually some of the earliest examples of fake news.
There were assassins for hire and spies in feudal Japan, but rather than pajamas, they dressed as regular farmers, or servants. The black clad masked men of the old Japanese art was propaganda. In Japan at that time, to sneak around was dishonorable. To wear a mask was dishonorable. So in the art of the time, they made ninja as men sneaking around in masks... cowards! They were dressed in black because it represented hiding in shadows, another cowardly act. That’s why you see the ninjas on the small, too. The samurai in the art is often huge, with no helmet on. Facing the cowards. |

These new Essentials (or whatever they're calling the DCC figures these days) are looking mighty nice.
Been into ML for so long, I've almost forgotten what a more stylized, comic-booky superhero figure looks like. These proportions and sculpts are just so... superhero-y. By comparison, ML bucks feel too anatomical imo, and the proportions, especially some of those legs, are just not right. If these can at least achieve 80% of the articulations on ML's top bucks, I'm afraid I'd have to go all in. No better time than now to start a DC collection I suppose. |

The new Green Lanterns both look great. Really impressed with John especially.

Oh...OH. I had to do a double-take.
These are Multiverse figures??? Wtf. I just assumed by the quality that they're DCC figures. Um... ok then. These look much better than the Multiverse figures that are out currently... |

WOOOOOO 90's Raynor! A nice Batman Beyond update!
Was excited for Rebirth OG Wally because I really like that costume, but that figure looks terrible. Let's hope it's because of the "Licensor's Approval Pending" or whatever. Also even the ones I don't want personally look really damn good. Kudos to all of you who want 'em. |

They do seem like upgrades over their products from the past years but brace yourself because the final releases almost never look nearly this nice, mainly just regarding the paint-apps and face sculpting I mean. Every past convention I see what Mattel has on display and get real hyped but then by the time I actually find it at a store the quality is not on par with their convention prototypes. I'd really love it if Mattel finally broke their own chain and actually sold us what we're seeing now but it hasn't happened yet. All of the Dark Knight Returns figures for example looked sharp as hell and really well done when they were first shown but then in final release Joker is the only one who even came close to what was previewed. Just gotta be prepared for that to probably happen again. It's to be expected that what we see at shows will be more refined and detailed compared to the actual mass-produced release but Mattel has a knack for doing this more severely than Hasbro or other companies.

What happened to the Jim Balent era Purple Catwoman??? She was leaked a while back as being part of the Lobo, Kyle, KC Superman line and now Kid Flash has been removed from the exclusive Clayface part and replaced her. What is it with companies not making that CATWOMAN?? DC Direct canceled theirs , now the Multiverse one goes MIA??

Just curious, what is currently clogging your store shelves? Mine are Lex Luthor from BvsS, Captain Boomerang from SS, Sgt Rock from SS, Harley from SS, Batman from JL, WW from WW, another Amazon from WW, Trevor from WW, Doomsday Superman, and a Target has a ton of Wonder Girl. No figures in blue packages have made it to my stores yet. Anyway, I must admit that Kyle Rayner, Black Canary, and Batman Beyond do look pretty cool, but they weren't announced to have ankle rockers and I know I'll never see them. Isn't it a little late to do Flashpoint Aquaman? Does anyone care about Flashpoint anymore?

That's the first Starfire figure I've ever actually wanted to buy. Hawkgirl looks amazing too. Nightwing too but I don't know if I want it and the Essentials version.
Glad they confirmed new articulation, it is closer to Marvel Legends. If they start using photoreal faces then they might give Legends a run for its money.

It's cool that Mattel is using the double jointed elbows and knees and other modern articulation techniques. So kudos to them it's been a long time guys...long ass time.

Looks like a pretty good lineup. I'm not super-harsh about articulation. The ones that stand out for me the most are the DeVito Penguin, Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, the Kingdom Come Superman, and Ledger Joker. I'm glad they did the KC Superman's trunks that way instead of only painting the skinny pelvis red like on the Bizarro figure. That makes the trunks look like speedos.
I am a little disappointed that no new movie/TV figures were revealed, like a Keaton Batman figure, but I can't imagine them making a BR Penguin with no Batman to accompany it. I know a Reeve Superman is a long-shot considering it's been said that his likeness rights were retracted by the Reeve estate. Last edited by Wonderful Toys; 07-21-2018 at 11:48 AM.. |

New reveals from TNI and sneak peaks including Tim Drake Red Robin, Red Hood Jason Todd (in normal costume rather than the awful Morrison one we got from DC Signature Collection!) and what looks like TV Black Lightning
