The Halo line is not dead?! Well, that's a pleasant surprise. I hope the retail versions would look good as these beautifully painted display figures...if only Mattel put this much effort in DC Multiverse, sigh.
Wow! Most new DC Multiverse figures actually look good! Shame they still use this ugly outdated single joint system from the 90's (curse whoever invented the DC/UC crotch joint, the ugliest joint to be ever designed). I think the Batwoman have modren double jointed articualtion! The Wonder Women Barbies suffers from big head and I loath DC super girls, they're lame and insulting*. *for those who don't know, they basically ruined the whole super hero theme and turn it into another stupid high school drama to cater to little girls. Both the super heroes and the villains goes to the same school with their super hero/villain identity! This beyond stupid.

Mattel is putting out the best offerings of Superman. That's a pleasant surprise. This looks so solid.

Wow, brand new DC Rebirth figures and they still are using the outdated molds. Come on Mattel, how about putting a little effort into your products for once?

I wanted to see the Atom's alternate head, but that was the only one that fell over and wasn't photoed properly.

Quite a few more reveals from them than I was expecting. The Wonder Woman movie figures look pretty good, especialy Ares. Though I kinda wish the Wonder Woman figure didn't have the cloak. I wonder if you only need these four to complete Ares or if there will be more to come.
Was initially excited to read that a Duke Thomas figure was in the works, but was dissapointed to see his Robin outfit. I think I'll wait for a Lark figure. I'm kinda dissapointed to se him seemingly take the place of the new 52 Wonder Woman figure they originally showed off for that wave. The Clayface C&C figure looks great. Can't imagine he'll keep all that shading on him, but that won't be hard to do. I appreciate that they're doing a Rebirth Superman figure. He'll be a must-have. Hopefully this means there's a Wonder Woman on the way for a future wave. Can't say that I'm familiar with that particular take on Two-Face (I'm guessing from the recent All-Star Batman story), but he doesn't look too bad. Batwoman and the Green Lantern figure look pretty good. The JLA stuff looks pretty good. Not great, but better than the 2" figures. Though I still think Superman looks too skinny. Will wait for a review or two before deciding to get any of them. Oh, and the figure you labeled as a Batman figure, the one with the wings, that's actually Batwing, aka Luke Fox.

Though Jim Gordon from the Multiverse King Shark Wave is not pictured. Which figure is this from the Batman series? Like Tim Burton? Christopher Nolan?

I found more pictures on another site and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I saw two new figures of DC Multiverse with nice looking sculpts and modren joints! The Batwoman and female Green Lantren character have a completely new sculpted body with chest swivel (side to side an up and down, as well,I think) joint, no DC/UC crotch, swivel in the upper hips, double jointed knees and ankle pivot.

Also, the Gordon Batman figure is on display. He's right next to the Batgirl figure.

My mistake, you can see it here too. It just dark, so you need close up.

The Batwoman and Green Lantern figures are definitely new sculpts. Those aren't Mattel's usuall kind of hip articulation or torso joint. Can't quite tell if they have double jointed knees or ankle pivots, but they certainly look possible.
I'm not a big stickler on articulation, but I can't complain that it looks like they might be adding some knew points for future figures. Would be nice to see this new body sculpt used for a Rebirth Wonder Woman figure.

I didn't see Wonder Girl or DK2 Flash, which if memory serves, were going to be retailer exclusives.
Is it safe to assume that their absence is a sign that Mattel has cancelled those figures ? And, as an aside, yay for a Superman Rebirth figure, boo for it being on a buck that's nearly a decade old

Ughhhh, that Two-Face. Guess my wait for a good, new Long Halloween style Harvey goes on.
Still excited to get TDKR Joker.

Not necesarily. Toy Fair is pretty much all about convincing retailers to sell your product, so there's typically no need to try and further convince a retailer that's likely already signed on to carry something exclusive. That said, the TRU exclusive Robin is on-display... so who knows.

Still going strong. Blind bags series 4 and 5 are coming. 4 finally has Karai, 5 has Kunoichi April. Series 3 has regular April. Super Shredder and the Super Ninja Turtles are in the works too for later.
They're doing more scene sets. Mikey in chinatown, Donny in his lab, Mikey with pizza cat in the kitchen, Leo vs Shredder, Raph vs Bebop on bike, mikey vs rocksteady at an amusement park, and a 150 ct freebuild sewer set that comes with 4 masks and a black shelled turtle so it can be any of them. The new Power Rangers Mega Construx are pretty awesome too. They've combined duplo and lego brick standards to make some really massive and universally compatible zords to make megazaords bigger or to customize them. And they hold really firm and sturdy so easy for kids to play with or for collectors to make some really big creations that can hold poses. The new minifigures are now closer to TMNT too, so it'll be easy for them to update later to the COD/Halo standard if they want to later. Right now it's an inbetween blend of the PR standard and TMNT styled no elbow arms. They changed the head style though so kids won't lose the helmets anymore. Oh and they took the ID codes off the blind bags. And Halo is definitely still going strong as is COD. The new figure standard has led to more single carded figures and they've started doing diecast collector series one of the lead characters in the game like fire team osiris. Destiny seems to be doing decently too still. The new COD cargo containers are ingenious too. If you want to make a shipyard or anything, those are amazing scene building sets. The new Beyond series is freaking gorgeous too. It's like Lego City but a futuristic city, and the robot mini-figures are amazing. Those come with mostly normal people, so if you needed a normal city set for a spartan siege with flood or covenant, that's perfect. In theory, you could even make a mass effect multiplayer level from those sets or one of the newer COD games that's futuristic. Last edited by Snowflakian; 02-19-2017 at 03:21 PM.. |
