It is absolutely one of the possible outcomes, but expensive lawyers can work wonders. I don't think it will truly come to that. Even if Glut does win out in the end, I believe Mattel will just throw enough cash at him to keep doing what they are doing.

I doubt Mattel would lose it, but I hope this has some after effect on the line because they deserve it. Karma is a bitch after all.

Maybe he could get a company that isn't as backwards as Mattel to produce figures at a reasonable price and have a competent customer service department.
Honestly I wouldn't doubt them trying anything to lie about it since they lie about so much else with the line. |

PS: Mattel won't lose it, and it will have no effect on the line. Even if the DID lose it it would barely affect Mattel's bottom line...MotU ain't even remotely close to the cash cow it used to be. It would annoy the heck out of them though, as of course they -hope- it'll be a cash cow again sometime in the future (likely in conjunction with a movie). No matter what it will stay in litigation long enough for classics to finish. Classics is the definitive line and if allowed to run it's course through 2015 I believe we will have damn near anything and everything would could have wanted, with the exception of a few very obscure wants.
That being said I will be done and happy even if it stays with Mattel or ends up with a different company ( which i highly doubt) cause I prob wont bite at a new movie or animated line. Perhaps a well done 3 3/4. I have had one sub from the time it was offered due to the initial few figs being so hard to obtain. I have only had one toy arrive damaged, Granamyr. Haven't had the best customer service but its been better then my cable provider and my phone provider which i pay substantially more money to. I have paid a reasonable price for the toys considering the mass market 6 in is around 17 to 18 these days without as much bulk or detailed assecories as MOTUC. I have been reemed on shipping, however I have every figure and have saved countless personal hours and gas money and frustration I wouldve spent searching for a line with retail presence. A retail presence that knowing Mattel would have failed horribly, with figures not being found, absurd case ratios, being dropped by major retailers and landing only at TRU to collect dust on the shelves, be priced what we are paying now and to prob end after 3 waves. In short has Mattel made mistakes and continue to? Of course. Could we have gotten the collection we have gotten at the quality it was made any other way. No Im happy this line was created and I will be happy when it is complete and over.

I know right? How dare Mattel run a business that does not give a **** about its customers and will raise prices, cut accessories and quality control, and tell their customer's that they either buy what they give them because they are lucky to even have the line or do without a line at all. The nerve of them! May they burn in hell!

Well never say never. Hopefully they get a good lawyer that is better than Todd Mcfarlane's Lawyer. A judge with common sense would not hurt either.

Not that anyone cares about this, but this same thing is happening with the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book. One of the old writers is suing Archie Comics, claiming that he owns all the characters and concepts that he created for the comic. The end result is not known yet (I think), but Archie has pulled all of this guy's characters out of the comic. It's quite a drastic change. Almost disastrous for the ongoing story.

Untrue if he gets the rights he can get a cease and desist order and confiscate the items in question.
Companies have done it to others before Lego and Lucas Films I know of. |

I hope Mattel wins. The guy's job was to create a toy line for Mattel, not a future score via a lawsuit settlement. People like him disgust me. Reminds me of the douchebag comic book artists who tried to seize control of characters they helped design for the two main companies, DC and Marvel, back in the 90's.

By all means, tell us which toy line out there has not raised prices in the last few years, hasn't had issues with cuts in accessories/paint apps/articulation, has flawless quality control, and caters to their customers every whim when it comes to customer service. I'm certainly not aware of any such company, and I collect many different lines from several different companies.
If such a company doesn't exist, you're holding Mattel to an unrealistic standard. That's fine and dandy if that's your thing, but just means you're going to go through life a consistently bitter and disappointed individual. Is there room for improvement? Damn right there is. Digital River has generally been a comedy of errors for Mattel. I just don't generally expect for-profit businesses to willingly lose money to try to please the inherently unpleasable entity that is "the internet."
