"How cool would just one Batman look like - crafted by the hands of - Dave Vonner?" Then a more exciting idea came. DC holds decades more Batman stories than most characters found in Marvel Universe. In fact, A-listers at DC hold decades more story than most Marvel characters. So if he went to DC, then Vonner holds in his golden hands a greater range of say, Batmans, than Marvel can ever give in almost all its own characters' iterations (numerically / chronologically limited to its less storied younger universe). The more I think of it. The idea of what one Batman looks like sculpted by Vonner (and many other great Batmans still needing action figures) the more logical and exciting the idea becomes - of Mattel hiring David Vonner. a mere sample of many decades worth of Batman, throughout time... If you guys want to save time going forward you can just post this video as the answers to these Q&A sessions. The great part is that the answer for every question ever asked is this, so it can always be used.

Fans; "Does Matty/Mattel have any plans to make Ram-Man?"
Matty; "We do, but we don't."

Those Q&A sessions are extremely underwhelming. Pointless, honestly.

Good questions this time around, too bad it's the same old non-answers.
The double jointed Dick Grayson Bat,man question was a good one! Kudos to whomever came up with it! And here's hoping that their plans for figure stands means they're planning on making them more accessible than once every year and a half.

Question: So will you be making plans on these characters?
Mattel: Well we could be but nothing to confirm, stay tuned How about they choose questions they CAN answer. Hey thanks for telling us you have no plans but could be planning but cant confirm anything.

The Q&A is pretty lame and gets no results. I would rather see Mattel just give us news updates on things they are actually willing to share. We get no where with the Q&A.

I dunno. While asking specific questions like "Will you ever make Jason Todd/Bleez/Ragdoll?" is a waist of everyone's time and energy, occasionally asking about sets of characters that may be in question sometimes yields significant answers.
We've learned that Alan Moore characters, like Watchmen and V for Vendetta are currently off limits. And this go round, if you pay attention to the wording, the Vertigo question is a fairly significant answer. They either won't, or can't use Vertigo characters unless they're used in the mainstream DC Universe. And if they gain access, they'll most likely subscription figures. That's a fairly substancial answer, though it doesn't seem like it at first.

Ok Im gonna vent sorry if I offend
"We had to listen to demand" Ok now my question who here asked for these figures not to be released? I know I didn't. I want Larfleeze Dang it stop using bold face lies to avoid something just admit you want to please people who have the money to burn on the same figure 500 times. I dont care if I get another Superman or Batman heck when they hit the store Im gonna pass New 52 or not I'm not interested in having 45 Supermen, Batmen, Hal Jordans, or Barry Allens. Im glad I dont preorder cause I would have cancelled once they changed it So when wave 1 comes out I'll get Superboy Prime & Red Robin. If I wanted New 52 firures I'd go hit a Hobbyshop and get some Model paint. Last edited by CMIII; 04-02-2012 at 07:05 PM.. |

Most of the questions I ask, I always try to phrase them in ways that will draw out a true answer, or try to ask ones that would have intellegent answers, as opposed to the typical 8-ball types. Doesn't always work, though.

And here's hoping that their plans for figure stands means they're planning on making them more accessible than once every year and a half. The Q&A sometimes nets good info, I've found that it's usually in the way you word the questions but sometimes even then, we get generic answers. I pretty much learned the best way to word questions after wading through the Hasbro Q&A's which were so limited in scope BUT, depending on how and what you asked, you could get definitive answers. It sucks to see DCUC going to just 1_2 waves of All Stars figures with the rest going online. This is just my hunch, but I don't think DCUC did all too well @Walmart. They probably ordered tons without getting much profit. That last wave I saw ther with the Super Friends didn't seem to take off well, I mean that cartoon imo didn't age well and hell that was before my time, I didn't recognize most of them. Cool that the Super Powers cast got some love but it just wasn't for me. Also mad Batman Legacy ended, dug that line a lot. I have most of the figures so you might see reviews of them eventually here. All the comic ones were pretty solid(didn't pick up Freeze though), while the Mattel in-house Arkham ones were sometimes questionable. Imo you can't have a good Dc line @Mattel without the 4H.

As for DCUC at Walmart, you pretty much summed it up. There is still some at my local Walmart gathering dust in the Clearance aisle. |

At least he didn't say no to Vertigo characters in the DC line. Not that most people probably care. LOL. Personally, I'd love anything other than more repaints... no matter how much people are jizzing to having every character already made repainted in a Blue Lantern or Sinestro Corps uniform.

QUESTION 4H FIGURES
Matty, Are the 4H aware (in 4+ years from now) Marvel's license expires with its current toy company? Disney likes its toys made by Mattel. Thus, may award its Marvel license to Mattel to make amazing new Marvel 6" figures by the equally amazing Four Horsemen. Obtaining licenses from the 2 major comic companies (under 1 roof) can create many possibilities. For example, it will be much easier to make "cross over" action figures as does Marvel + DC makes many cross over (comics). Also, with 4H's existing library of DC superhero bucks (and future 4H Marvel bucks) this can easily make many AMALGAM action figures. Again, it takes 2 years MINIMUM to plan out toys. Are the 4H already planning ahead, on what may inevitably come in only 4+ years, and its many possibilities? Love, ToyArk Last edited by Super Joe; 04-08-2012 at 03:00 PM.. |

SUPERMAN QUESTION:
With the canceling of Young Justice 4" figures, is it the end of your efforts, in the 1:18 scale? Or can we expect a different body / articulation / approach in future DC figures thereof that scale? Next year witnesses both the new Man of Steel film AND Superman's 75th anniversary. Its TWICE the media buzz / opportunity to take advantage of a new line of possibly better 1:18 scale figures...
