just got a tip from arker optimus vader that the 1st sale of the year is going to be a good one. did a lil digging and found out some more info as well (if its not new to you then pay no attention to it) some "core" figures are going to be on sale all year long! the 1st group is he-man battle cat, skeletor and panthor.
the normal sub figures will be on sale with faker and merman. so im guessing they will keep the monthly turn outs the same but the yearly figs are the main selling point for me. just wanted to give a heads up if no one else knew about it

I read that they were going to keep a year round stock of core characters which is nice for any one starting to get into MOTU Classics. I started a year after they first came out so I had a lot of catching up to do which was all done outside of Mattel.com because in those first few years getting the new figs with out a subscription was nearly impossible if you could not be on their site for 2 hrs in the middle of the day. Everything sold out that day, sometimes in minutes.
I vowed to never miss out or pay rediculous mark up again so the sub is the way to go even though I still have to be online to get the offerings they choose to make after the sub has be finalized. I just hope their Idea of core characters matches everyone elses expectations.

i really wanted to pull the trigger on the sub but i couldnt. when it comes to this line i like to cherry pick and not be stuck with ones i dont know about or care about. i.e photog and everyone comin out thats NOT fisto, ram man, stinkor and mantenna. i just have to take my chances with trying to get on and buying one b4 they all sell out. like mossman did. sold out in 3 min i think? has to be a matty record lol

Well I'm pretty glad to be a subber right now. I'm absolutely fine with everyone coming out next year. I personally can't wait for Kobra Khan. But I hope they consider Hordak a "core" character later on, I've yet to get my hands on one for a reasonable price. I just increased my collection from just 18 figures to over 40 in the last 3 months. Just need about 5 or more backlog figs to finish off the list of figures I need!
Moss Man was my first ever attempt at actually ordering from MattyCollector - I was totally floored by the ridiculousness and partially traumatized. Immediately bought him off evilBay in pure anger. Never did try again until Megator, which was much more pleasant. I know these lines never go on for long (though I'm hopeful of course), but as long as they pump out all the Snake Men before it goes under, I'll be satisfied with life. |

Hordak is one I'm still after too... and not the silly Hurricane version. I can't imagine he won't be considered core and be up for sale at some point.
Sorry to hear you guys had Mossman trouble... I thought it was a crime that he didn't sell out for $10 during Matty's Cyber Monday sale. I just got my BG Evil Lynn in the other day and that is one nice looking figure.

i missed the matty cyber monday sale or i would have had mossman. not really a make or break character 4 me tho. the yearly core figure idea is gud if they keep adding to the list every 2 or 3 months just to keep it fresh

Matty's S&H charges keep me from using their site. I was going to buy Battlecat, I was even ok with the $33 price, until I saw S&H was $12! That's crazy. I just bought one, new in box, off ebay for $37 out the door. I wish I could have purchased from Mattel, but it's a case of meeting my needs. I couldn't justify spending $45 when I could get it for $37. Same thing with the regular figures. I buy Merman on Matty's, I spend $22 + $9 S&H, on ebay, it's $22 + $5.95. I wasn't able to take advantage of the Black Friday sale due to lack of funds, but I will definitely try to this year, if possible.
