Am I crazy for liking the SDCC Doomsday?
Simply on the merits of it being in the proper scale, when compared to the Mattel DCU Doomsday, is enough to make me appreciate the sculpt. Of course, I wanted the Unleashed Doomsday more(and "in addition to"), but I will settle for this at the moment. I truly believe we will see Mattel DCU figures again at some point and the Unleashed Doomsday would likely be first on any list. Am I disappointed that there was no Unleashed Doomsday? Yes. Would I have bought an Unleashed Doomsday before Prison Doomsday? Yes, but I still would have purchased the Prison Doomsday. The sculpt is accurate(and iconic) to his appearance in the comics and he did do a lot of battling/killing in this costume(it sort of heightened the "fear/mystery" component of the character). I think some of the hate for this fig. is a bit of misdirected rage over not meeting the threshold for Unleashed Doomsday(not to mention dismay over the end of a fan-favorite toyline). Additionally, the SDCC mark-up and limited availability for the item creates a great deal of animus and the perfect storm for h8er-ade. If you haven't guessed...Yes, I have pre-ordered one of these. I'll be "crazy" for doing the unthinkable...but, I will also be very happy I grabbed one "if" and "when" Unleashed Doomsday is released! lol And if unleashed isn't released? At least I can create an "initial moments" of Death of Supes display with a properly scaled Doomsday... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 06-02-2014 at 03:57 PM.. |

Hopefully they will both be easy to find at retail. Good luck to anyone wanting to pick up the SDCC versions, though.
