That's one of the better Shatner likenesses in a little bit...

As much as I detest how much McFarlane is trying to set back the same industry that he once helped advance, I'm not above getting his figures if the IP is cool. I just don't expect anything more than a statue.
The Picard might be good. I'll probably grab him if the production samples look decent. |

I'll probably get Picard. I passed on the Diamond one because I never saw one with ideal paint and the base looked like it ate up more space than I was willing to give.

The figures look quite good. McFarlane did a good job sculpting them. Most of the articulation doesn't look bad, but I have no idea what they're talking about with those hips. They look like the only move forward and maybe backward a little. There doesn't appear to be any outward movement. That alone would make these huge improvements over past figures.
I'll probably get them, as I don't have the DST versions of either Kirk or Picard, but I'm much more interested in their planned figures and replicas for Discovery. Though I'm kinda hoping they eventually delve into DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise characters. If not the others, at leas Sisko, Janeway, and Archer to have a set of Captains.

Yeah, the hips they are using are very similar to the 5" Walking Dead figures. Hard to see on the black pants.

This is awesome! lol...if only for the reason that we finally get to see the two stuntmen that made that fight magical! I can hear the Star Trek fight theme pumping in my head right now!

Articulation looks decent, and I'm glad they have announced some Discover figures already.

Hmmm, cautiously optimistic about these figures after the articulation announcement.

i DO NOT see how Shatner can sit. He has no knee joints according to the articulation breakdown.
I am not sure about this 10" line. I am hoping Diamond Select does these like they did with their Ghostbusters figures. Articulation everywhere. I can see DST doing a build a STAR-Deck. |

I like how the articulation specification thing actually notes "useful articulation," maybe the people at McFarlane are actually listening to what we're saying.

I looked at the articulation breakdown provided, and just assumed. Again thanks. |

Captains James T. Kirk and Captain Jean-Luc Picard is the last bastion of nerdom that hasn't been invaded by fake geek Youtubers yet(That I know of). My fantasy is to put captain vs captain...crew vs crew side by side..... Hoping McFarlane goes deep with this line.... |

Good to finally get some info on the first batch of Discovery characters getting figures. Michael Burnham was inevitable, but it's nice to see T'Kuvma getting a figure early on as well. Especially with the Klingons having such a large role in the new series.
The articulation scheme is pretty good. Though I'm confused over the hip articulation. The breakdown seems to suggest that they have double jointed hips, but the figures look like they just have forward and backward movement there. Also does seem weird that they didn't mention the knee bends for some reason. Can't say that I'm interested in the 10" Kirk figure, but i am kinda curious to see how it turns out. Especially since it seems to say that it comes with a bunch of tribbles. I'm really exited for their replica of the phaser. I love it's design, and how it's basically a merger of the Cage and TOS phasers. Hopefully they'll have replicas of the communicator and tricorder in the works. Some Klingon weapons would be great, especially a disruptor, but Ijm not counting on them atm. With McFarlane having access to the entire franchise (only exception being the Kelvin timeline movies), I do hope they cover as much of it as they can. Especially DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise.

I hope they make a TNG/DS9 era Type 2 phaser
