So the 5" comic series continues but the 5" TV series is moving to 7" because McF knows people will pay for them. If he could just round out the core survivors from right after the prison and then call it quits I think a lot of us 5" collectors would be okay.
I was upset at the price when he first started and then slowly came to accept it. It kind of feels like a double dip, in Rick's case it would be a 7th dip if you count how many they have made in the 5" and the 10"- not even counting the building sets. I know that my toys r us and gamestop does not have any TWD figures left but all of the Walgreens are overstuffed with Andreas and Shovel Daryls. Even if they rounded out that core group they could still make 1 or 2 sets of walkers and easily sell out. so many collectors army build these McF would be crazy not to. I hardly ever see any walkers pegwarming anywhere. But these look good. |

The word is that the comic 5" line is staying because Kirkman wanted it to. Which shows his power. The latest McFarlane excuses for killing the 5" TV line say that they other franchises he has (like Spawn) were not enough to support themselves as individual lines, so he combined them into his 'red box' line so people will buy more than just walking dead figures. We've also heard from inside McFarlane toys that the vast out cry against this decision is starting to hit home and causing some concern in house.

If the figures looked half as good as these CGI images they always post, I would be into this line in a big way. Such a shame.

Yeah, there are a lot of spoilers here. Both old and new. Lol.
If McToys sticks to canceling the 5" TV Series, I'll be selling off what I have. I'll continue to collect the Comic Series. Personally like those better anyhow. This helps as I need the extra space. They were really taking a beat down on Facebook after Toy Fair 2016. I'm already collecting the 10" stuff, no need to buy 7" statues. Tood, If you need to make some cash, do some highly articulated figures. I'm pretty sure there is a market for them. The 5" line could have continued as usual, and the new Red Box line should have been highly articulated. I'd like to see NECA take a crack at TWD. That Shane above looks to capture Tony Moore's depiction very well. Also, the Glenn looks nice. Alternate smashed in head FTW. Love the heads on stakes.

Even the way McF explained in the video it still does not make sense to cancel the 5" line. He might be just doing it to push the color top brand, saying that retailers have to buy that or they won't get the 5" figures.
The only places I ever see the comic 5s are in comic shops and toys r us, not walgreens, so I am assuming that walgreens sales could be the reason for the change. He said he was doing it even if it was not a good idea. Other than disputing with a retailer I don't see why both brands can't exist in the world. He could just remove the 5" line from any retailers that aren't selling or want something different and replace with this new line. He is just using TWD brand to push stuff that would not sell on it's own but alienating an existing fan base, It is going to end up biting him. I know I am not going to start buying another line, especially knowing it will be a little over $20 a piece. |

Not really, a bunch of regular characters (including one of my favorites) just suddenly show up decapitated on pikes with no events leading up to that which makes their deaths technically off-panel which is frustrating as hell.

I wish that Negan didn't have the long hair/beard look, but I'll still probably get him. I just got Jesus in the mail yesterday. That is one exquisite figure.
Lydia is almost a must have, the Whisperers are a great faction. |

I guess it's because they already did regular Negan a long time ago now. At least this figure still has Lucille even though I don't recall him getting to use it in this look. I don't know if you're up to date with the comics but Negan remains a character and looks like he used to again so if this line goes on we could see another figure. That is if this line goes on. I know the Color Tops is becoming their main line and the TV Walking Dead 5" is ending and going all into the Color Tops but I don't remember what the comic series is doing.
