If ever there was proof that Megahouse loves me, personally (screw all y'all), this was it: Not only are they coming out with SD Auβenseiter and Dyzengar figures from SRW:OG, but they've announced that they'll be coming out with an Alteisen and Weiβritter too. These are pretty much the top four of my favorite mecha designs. Sure, they're a bit expensive (okay, okay, a LOT expensive. ), but I would be remiss if I didn't get them.
Anyone else follow Super Robot Wars stuff? Last edited by QuinJester; 02-10-2009 at 06:14 AM.. |

I wonder how big they'll be. If they're the same size or bigger than the SDX Knight Gundam (which is almost the same price ... a little cheaper, but loaded with accessories) I wont feel so bad about forking out for them, especially if they have any die-cast in them. Even if they're not quite so big or as complex, I'll probably get them anyway... I'm a slave to SRW Designs
Especially to an SD Weissy. Awesome. |

I'm also a little curious to know if the SD Alteisen will be anything like the prototype that was showcased a couple years ago in a magazine (Hobby japan, maybe?). It was listed as being made by Volks, which makes me think it wont be related, but considering that figure never actually made it to the light of day (and it DID look quite awesome), it'd be nice if Megahouse had either comissioned or bought the molds for it...

Considering the entire visual style of the games is SD, I would then say none of these products are for you

Thanks for that, it was really relevant/constructive to the thread.
Now I'll talk to the real men. These little figures look awesome. The whole "exposed pilot" idea is awesome! I hope they do that with the regular Gundams as well. An SD Char's Zaku with a little Char mini to place inside it would be the best! EDIT: I bought Super Robot Wars 2 a couple years ago and have had the biggest love/hate relationship with it. I love the animation and the designs, but the positively epic story makes it hard for me to follow the stuff sometimes. I still have not finished it but I started playing the game again last month, so it's cool to see these designs. My particular favorite from the games is the R-2 Powered, with Rai being my favorite guy since he reminds of a Raiden/Char. I like the Gigascurdo(spelling?) a lot too. Any Huckabein rocks in my book as well. Last edited by scarecrow; 03-09-2009 at 07:51 PM.. |

The R-2 is an awesome mech. Conveniently, the R-2 is also an awesome model kit, for those wanting to pick up one of Kotobukiya's offerings. Definitely one of the more "toylike" kits, as far as stability and solidity go.
But getting back to this, I'm really tempted to get these guys. The thing that would push me over the edge would be knowing if they had any diecast content. I picked up the Bandai SRX Knight Gundam and enjoyed it for the most part, but would prefer a nice diecast version of the SRW designs. Especially if it means a diecast SD Alteisen and Weissritter later. |
