I see the Mezco 1:12 Dark Knight Returns Batman is on display.
Does that mean we can expect to see him re-issued at some point? He's been sold out on the Mezco website for months. |

Wow the fabric they are using looks like a sweater suit. Superman is way too fat. Ghost is decent. Problem with Mezco is they promise a lot but don't deliver sometimes. Whatever happened to those 3.75" Mars Attacks! figures i was dying to buy?

Nice Space Ghost (and Dredd). I can put them alongside the two or three other versions of these characters in this scale. Cloth costumes on what are basically Marvel Legends figures are kind of cool, but at 3x the price (plus) I can live without the gazillionth version of these characters -and at this scale the cloth looks like a branded sweater as another poster pointed out. I'm sure it's the licensing getting sliced so thin, but I'd gladly pay these prices (or more) for high end 8" or 1:6 scale figures of these characters. I hate that bogus retro crap Figures Toy Co cranks out - I want stuff made with contemporary styling, not 70's style, when the companies didn't care what the product looked like. Also, nice modification of the Mattel Gleek on Blip.

As someone who owns 5 of the 6 Mezco Dark Knight Returns 1:12 figure variants and absolutely loves the figure, I too am disappointed by how Supes looks here. I was hoping for a TDKR Superman, but that's not the problem. I don't know if the bulk is off or if it is just the waist, but Superman does not look like they put the same level of craftsmanship into him as they did for Bats and Dredd. Hopefully this is an early prototype and there is still more to be done on the figure.
The Flash is closer, but still not there yet. Space Ghost looks fantastic. Okay, there's my $0.02 |

That original Batman is really the only one that I wanted. We've talked about Superman before: that strange head sculpt is the same one we saw and criticized at SDCC, badly shaped and proportioned, likely a temporary mock-up while something better is prepared. My favourite would be something closer to the Animated Series or Fleisher cartoons, with the square head and strong, chiseled jaw. I dislike Flash's curved earpieces. Straight, horizontal, tapered rods always made more sense to me, mini-ailerons like the fin on the back of the helmet worn by Rocketeer. To each their own... Superman and Flash bum me out. Just not on the same level as Batman & Dredd. Weird proportions and off kiltered sizes moving from the head to the shoulders.
Space Ghost looks cool but not my thing. The Dredd & Bike set really look amazing. Too bad it's not coming out until next year but I'm fine with waiting as long as the finished product delivers. |
