Death Dealer is up for pre-order tomorrow. $150 price tag seems pretty unnecessary to me... it says it comes with an "art print and enamel pin set". No look at the accessories at this time, so hopefully there is some major accessories added to justify the $60 price bump because I figured this guy would max out at $100 at most.
EDIT: Also looks like he will be an exclusive. Last edited by notoriouslyhigh; 08-13-2020 at 01:22 PM.. |

That Death Dealer looks like a great piece but i'd really wish companies would take out things that some (IMO most) of us don't really care for like prints and a pin set that artificially raise the price.

Well the light-up eyes and blood effects are pretty sweet. I don't expect to see another quality Death Dealer figure in my lifetime, so I went ahead and pre-ordered.

The accessories are pretty nice I have to say, but I was half expecting an extra figure for you to pose him slaughtering to be included at $150 not just some decapitation and blood accessories. I'm sure the art print is what's mainly inflating the price though.

I think if they had given us a full color art print of Death Dealer instead of a sketch we would all be happier. The enamel pin set is pretty cool. I plan on actually pinning them on something. Maybe a hat? I love everything about this guy including all the badass accessories. So yeah I know the price is steep but you’re getting THE definitive version of Death Dealer in 1/12 scale. I think the extra money has more to do with making sure the Frazetta museum gets paid. I’m totally cool with that myself. When it comes to high end collectibles authentication is where the money is. The fact that this is authenticated by the Frazetta museum is a nice touch. I’m not buying this figure to put someone through college. I bought it because it’s cool AF! When you look at everything you’re getting I think the price isn’t that outrageous. Besides it’s not the $150 for the figure that hurts, it’s the $37 they tack on at the end to get him home

You know what I would pay $150.00 for? A One 12: Collective Snake Plissken.

With the rate that quality collectibles are now being made?

I guess that was a bit vague, so I'll elaborate: All the Death Dealer figures I've seen are 1/6 (which I simply don't collect) or they have been poor quality (those 5 POA things that came out about a year ago, or the TBleague/Phicen stuff).
Also Death Dealer merch just doesn't come around all that often. The novel series by James Silke is almost impossible to find (No Kindle editions or anything, that's for sure), both the Image and Verotik comic series are super expensive, and again no digital releases. Having said all that, you're ultimately right. For all I know Death Dealer will be in the next Mortal Kombat game and McFarlane and Storm Collectibles will both get to take a crack at DD. |

Was contemplating it as I have no Gambit. I’m really holding out for MAFEX though. The Mezco does have a cooler jacket... might just get him as a placeholder and swap the dusters down the line. Not sure. Doubt there’ll be any availability issues on him though so I might just wait a couple months.

If you ordered from BBTS though, you will most likely not see this until late September... maybe. They seem to just always get their Mezco stuff late. |

If you pay via paypal, you’re charged as soon as you place your order but it does seem to move you up in the queue.

It's in the "Shipping Now" section of Mezco's site. Usually people in the NY area end up with it first or there's always eBay sellers who seem to get them fairly early as well. Lately it seems like shipping is a week after they charge everyone for the orders. I've been having to wait about a week after paying to see any actual movement or get any shipping info from the site directly. So I'd say he'll probably be landing by the end of the month, just barely.

Saw some in hand pics of Gambit finally- For me I'll be sticking with the Hasbro figure- it took some modding to get him how I want but he just looks and moves better than the Mezco version. That lack of any torso crunch just wrecks the character for me. Sometimes I'll grab the Mezco version if there are good accessories to swap around, but even those don't do much for me. Maybe if he does a price drop at some point I'll jump in!

a fellow in a FB Mezco group has it and did a good review. i think he ended up taking it apart and cutting the armor to get the articulation. might be the Punisher body i think

A few reviews now up on YouTube for the Mezco Gambit. The over-exaggeration about articulation and comparing it to a statue is ridiculous. The figure looks great and has articulation points. The armor looks fantastic and that's the trade off for the lack of articulation in the middle of the body. How do people think movement is done when you wear a piece of body armor? Most of these collectors will pose him once or twice and leave him on the shelf. It's OK to have constructive critism but the constant complaining and way that its done is tiresome.

I think the complaints about Gambit are pretty valid. These things aren't cheap- and Mezco lately has been really taking a shit ton of shortcuts all while driving the price up. If a customizer can get in there and make a few cuts to the armor and give it the articulation it should have had, then why couldn't Mezco do that? Sure, the Mezco bashing seems to be growing (along with their constant price hikes without any updates in the figure themselves) but even worse is the fanboy white-knighting saying everything is great. I love my Mezco figures (well... most of them) but if they don't start listening to some of these complaints it's not hard to imagine they won't be around for a lot longer.

Mezco has been around a very long time- but they've got issues going on- especially that stuff that came out in the reddit about employee dissatisfaction and turn-over lately- and the barrage of complaints about quality and price jumps... They have a huge hit with their in-universe Gomez stuff but even there i hear of complaints with actually being able to get the product and fans frustrated with "surprise" sales and lack of inventory. I'm all for supporting smaller companies, but Mez is definitely pushing his fan base lately. Hopefully they can navigate the complaints AND the Fanboys to get their product back up where it should be. Hopefully Mr.Freeze, Conan, and DeathDealer live up to expectations.

Question about Mezco Waitlists - if I add to a waitlist can I cancel at any point without being charged?
I wanted to go on one but it was asking for my credit card info? Would appreciate any help! |

a waitlist might never happen- the card is only for if it does become available- you can opt out of the waitlist at any time with no NRD issues because they don't charge one for waitlisted items... I've been on the waitlist for Navy Whites Popeye for... a year? lol
