Still waiting on Mezco to finish off the Warriors delegates in the 10in line... Now I guess we'll have another unfinished Warriors line. The next 4-pack will probably be Cleon, Luthor, The Orphans Leader, and Cyrus... and then we'll never see another figure...

I might get this to have some goons/street toughs for other characters to interact with. I've never actually seen The Warriors.

it's worth checking out just to understand how many pop culture references it spawned (I prefer the original over the director's cut) but chances are you won't like it- it's very dated- but people that grew up with it tend to have a great fondness for it.

The theatrical cut is definitely my preferred cut. But I don't think any of the official releases have that cut on them. It's a silly, ridiculous movie that I just enjoy every second of. Plus it has one of the best video game adaptations I've ever played (which is far, far more violent than the movie).

I've been saying for a while now that The Warriors is something that should've actually gotten a remake at some point. As cool and iconic the original is, there's a lot of things in it that are really dated and hokey in retrospect.

But that's the charm of it for me. It's silliness played 100% straight faced. They did try and remake it a few times (the last in 2015 I believe), but every pitch that was made was essentially just a modern action gang movie, with no need to call it "The Warriors".

I think if they re-made it they would really have to push more into "the future" that it was supposed to be. Not lasers and spaceships future- but more of a dystopian police state future of Judge Dredd sort of timeline- I really don't think just rebooting as a modern gang movie would work.

Actually the movie was based on the real life gang filled streets of NYC back in the 1980's. of course the costumes were extra but you get the picture, usually people who were raised in NYC in the 80's understand this movie. A remake of this movie wont work cause the gang stuff has dwindled down nowadays. back in those gang days, there was always territory wars with gangs, just like how this movie plays out on the big screen...

See, I just have never had a problem with remakes- I get that some people get really offended by the idea of remakes- but for me- meh... if it looks good I'll watch it (Cape Fear, Magnificent Seven- my first remake experience re: Seven Samurai, Lost in Space... etc etc etc) and if it doesn't (Ghost Busters, RoboCop, Total Recall, etc X10000) then I won't. Doesn't take anything away from the original for me- and Warriors- a classic storyline of soldiers trying to get home- is absolutely re-makable

The Warriors is an adaptation of Sol Yurick's novel from the 1960's and was released in 1979. The book itself was a (then) modern adaptation of an ancient Greek story with the same premise. It's neither set in, nor a commentary on 80's gangs. It was simply the story of soldiers stuck behind enemy lines, with a 1970's comic book twist.

Yeah, I agree and when I heard that it was actually supposed to be set in the near future that kind of blew my mind.

NYC gang culture is the setting but, it's more about a group of soldiers having to fight their way home and that premise can work in a number of different scenarios.

Yes it is & the guy with the bare chest - that looks more like he's wearing a body suit, with as detailed as they make even smaller figures with ripped physiques, that one sure lacks detail.

yeah, they really should have tried an upper-torso/neck combination piece to avoid that body collar. Have we seen the final pics yet are is it still just the "con" photos from last year?

Those are just from NYCC and SDCC. They haven't released final product photos just yet.

the inspiration was from the book but made current (at that time) with the gang issue from the late 70's-80's.

I was thinking the same thing but that's a lot of money to throw at figures who are just cannon fodder. Also their clothes don't really work for modern day thugs. Although, I am tempted to do an 80's themed display featuring Punk Storm.

They probably might make the neck the same as the new Thor figure which had a peg inside the head and attached to the neck where it looks seamless. Also my man issue the arms since Mezco needs to retire that single jointed arms articulation.

Even too invest in the female figures with adding double jointed arms and legs.

Not bad, surprised they're giving extra heads, I like the added effort. I sort of wish they'd sell some bodies to allow for some customization. Can just get KOs I suppose.
