This week I'm bringing you another one of Spider-Man's rogue's gallery, the fiery foe Molten Man! He was created using a Toybiz Carnage base body, resculpted lower limbs with fodder hands, Sunfire belt, and old DCU Major Force head. Four-horsemen Scarabus flames were added as well as a movie Human Torch fire effect. A special mix of bronze, gold, and copper metallics were used and bright yellows/clear orange for his molten core effects were painted in. The end result was a striking look to one of Spider-Man's classic foes!

I always love your work but your commitment to use ,hard to find or supremely expensive, parts that elevate your art to it's logical conclusion is what I admire.

Honestly? It's usually either by accident or the fact I've had them sitting in my bis for 15 years.

Incredibly awesome custom of one of the few Spidey enemies I really have never cared for. I'd love to see your take on another obscure Spidey villain, "Equinox".

Very nice indeed...!
I like the fiery bits. Reminds me of my custom Human Torch figure. To me, as a kid, what made the Torch so cool was that he could fly! (This was before everyone in the Marvel Universe seemed to be able to fly. The same goes for Iron Man back then. These days who DOESN'T has an armored, flying suit?) But none of the Torch figures I've ever seen seemed to be designed to be posed in flight. I wound up with an extra (clear) Iceman from the last boxset. He was the right scale & fit the bill for the base figure. Painted him red with some clear automotive spray paint. Painted fiery bits with clear yellow. Stuck him on flying stand. Lost some POAs, but he looks more like Kirby's Torch to me...even better than that new Walgreen's effort. Looks like the best Silver Age FF set yet...which isn't saying that much, IMO. (BTW, I'm still waiting to see how the Thing from that set winds up looking...?) |
