One of my favorite Iron Man armors is the Modular Armor. The mask looked cool, lacked a "mouth", and was pretty streamlined. It was a defining look for Iron Man in the 90's for me.
Yet I'm surprised we have yet to see it in the Iron Man 2 Comic Series line. I mean we got the Advanced and Arctic Armors, the Ultimates one, and others, but no Modular Armor? Really? So who's with me in hoping for a Modular Armor Iron Man next year? Bring it on Hasbro! DO ET NAO

I agree. I'm surprised it hasn't been released at all... It's really a shame. Come on Hasbro!

I will be surprised and very disappointed if we don't see one next year. I would think it would be more popular and recognizable than some of the ones from the 2010 line, like the Advanced Armor.

He's the sole armor missing from them. T_T Which is surprising because it's also the one used heavily in the 90s animated series first season, then redesigned to be better (IMHO at least) for season 2. Personally I want the season 2 redesigned modular, but I'm surprised we haven't seen either one. Maybe they are saving it for when they do an Ultimo figure? |

I've been waiting for a Modular Armor version of Iron Man since MU debuted. Shame it still hasn't shown up or even been announced. It is one of the "must-have" armors for any Hall of Armors, in my opinion.

My all time favorite armor, but sadly not even 1 version of him in my collection. You think with the cartoon, mavel vs capcom, Hasbro/Marvel would have made another one. btw, that toybiz version sucks, I want a new 6 inch version. Maybe a TV version from the 2nd season Ironman Cartoon.

I guess it's not something we can't expect. But really, why hasn't it happened?

Really, the only "major" suits left are: Mark II (Gold repaint of Mk I with "skirt"), Modular Armor, Heroes Reborn Armor, and the "Retro" Armor (Heroes Return Armor). I'd add the Telepresence Suit but he only used that for a very short time. Also worth noting that with the exception of the Mark II, all of these suits would probably require a decent bit of new tooling/sculpting (which is probably another reason it hasn't happened yet). It's funny you say that. In my armory he's the one missing.

My guess would be it hasn't happened because they wanted to save at least one or two of his "major" armors to anchor future assortments.

Ironman 90s TAS Season 1 intro
Ironman 90s TAS Season 2 intro The season 1 was very much child fare, maybe even below it. Season 2 on the other hand was pretty well done, and even did armor wars as well as Hands of the Mandarin and had a drunk Julia carpenter too in one episode. It's hard to find a straight up picture of it to post. Season 1 had the more accurate armor, but season 2, I just LOVE that armor so much more. It's also never had an action figure. There are some screen caps Marvel Animation Age Presents: Iron Man but sadly they don't really show how awesome the armor is. Last edited by Snowflakian; 11-17-2010 at 01:56 AM.. |

I'd buy that the Modular armor is more recognizable, but the Heroes Reborn and Heroes Return suits are still pretty well-known, and by "Major" suits I mean "suits that he used as his "main" suit for longer than a few issues."

Thanks for posting a pic of your custom because I had no idea what you guys were talking about. I call that the Marvel vs Capcom armor. Can you tell it's been a while since I've read comics?

It's probably just a name change because Wal-Mart probably didn't like "Bleeding Edge" on a (theoretically) kid's product or something.
I do think we'll get the modular armor in one line or the other, but at this point I think it's more likely in the Iron Man: Armored Avenger line. |

To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised that they released the amount of comic armor's that they did, in one year. They're not really leaving a lot of room left for more, and the IM line is still going way into 2011. At this point I'd rather they save onto some down the line, so they can do them proper justice with brand new sculpts. Otherwise it will be a sea of pointless rereleases and repaints fighting for shelf space.

I like it because it's the only armor Ironman has that looks like he's wearing metal pants and not metal underwear. If there is another armor like that besides the Modular, let me know.

I would rather enjoy 1... they released a somewhat oversized comic style version that would be the perfect base for the figure... I will continue to buy as many armours as they are available.. I didn't jump on the band with every version of mark iv vi or w.e but got the main ones and when I can get my hands on a whip lash ie both versions, nick fury, i will be happier along with my silver centrium /iron monger... damn toys lol
