That's unfortunate, but probably not much of a shock considering how many of the original two sets are still warming TRU's.

NOooooooooooOOOOOOO!!! Okay, granted, I hadn't planned on getting any of the upcoming wave, but... I was still hoping for better things to come. Ah well. At least I got what I wanted out of it.

well who didnt see that one coming. It was essentially 2 different toylines, and sadly in this day and age, we know the Masters of the Universe dosent retail well, hence the collectors classics.
It was a good way to try to get younger kids into the Heman characters, but sadly, it failed.

I hate seeing this. It made a part of me happy to go into a store and see MOTU on the shelf. Granted, I can't afford them atm, but it's still cool to see them. Wish they'd mass retail another MOTU line, and NOT screw up the case assortments like the last one.

Is Mattel really that flat out retarded? They would have sold better if it was just a MOTUC figure alone. I wanted to buy them but wouldn't touch them because they were too expansive & I hate DC.
Such unbelievable dumbasses! Now they're gonna use this to say MOTU doesn't sell at retail. They won't blame the fact that combining 2 totally different lines was a dumb idea to begin with. They won't blame the ridiculous prices. They'll simply put all the blame on MOTU. |

Well, between the off-color accessories and the fact that TRU apparently ordered twelve billion cases of the Lex Luthor vs. Skeletor pack, I'm not surprised.
The later sets, when they've showed up at my local TRU, have sold through well, particularly the Mer-Man/Aquaman set. |

Wierd. My TRU is full of Hawk/Stratos and Aqua/Mer-man. But I snagged the very last Lex/Skeletor and haven't seen them since.
I agree with ya Noisemaze. Way to expensive as a single. Price is just right as a double for folks like me who enjoy both DC and MOTU though. |

I got the Lex/Skeletor set. I was very disappointed to find out Skeletor only came with a sword! I wanted his staff mostly.
I was going to get HeMan/Superman set but skipped it because He-Man didn't come with his F#$% SWORD! Not to mention I don't collect DCUC. It was a pain getting rid of the Luthor. I want single MOTUC but Matty is to stuck up to let stores sell them. |

It really annoys me how Mattel shifts the blame to retailers. The line failed because of the reasons you guys mentioned before my post along with the fact that every superhero in the sets were identical to their original releases. Those were things completely under Mattel's control. I'm glad the retailers finally acknowledged it isn't cool to pack in something we already have with something we want just to make more money.

Well, this line was perfect for me. I'm a fan of Masters (only 'cause of the 2000s animated series) and DCUC.
I didn't have a Luthor or Skelly, so the Skeletor/Lex pack was great, though a single Sword of Power(?) was a let-down. And I just picked up Hawkman/Stratos, 'cause again, I didn't have a Hawkman or Stratos. And this is going to continue with the rest of the line. I never picked up Super/He-Man simply because I have a Superman from the Gotham City 5-pack, but I still want a He-Man. And yes, I still don't have a GL "Hal Jordan" figure, so GL/Zodac for me. Plus, I'm mostly looking forward to Supergirl/She-Ra. Not sure if I should get Aqua/Mer-Man - not too fond of those two (don't have any of them either though) This was my sole way to get MOTUCs without wading through piles of ridiculousness with MattyCollector.com, until now that is.... |

I'll get the She-Ra one if if hits as that will be one less to get aftermarket. (Provided she actually has her Sword)

It's too weird of an experiment, trying to get two dissimilar groups together.

I'm not surprised. More saddened, really. I was hoping this would be a chance for MOTU to get their feet in the door at retail again.
Personally, I couldn't swallow the price, especially since I don't collect DCUC figures or even that size class anymore. It would be the same to me as buying a TF Kre-O set just for the Minifig (thankfully with Kre-O, I like the sets too ). But I really wanted some of the MOTUC figures and would have gladly bought them in single packs at retail (even if they were $15 each like the DCUC figures). According to the news article, those two should be out by the end of the year.

I never understood this crossover line to begin with. As a fan of MOTU, I fail to understand where Superman, Aquaman, etc fit into that. It was a BIG assumption that "everyone likes DC"...especially enough to carry a line. A Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover would make a lot more sense, but these two properties in one package was a head-scratcher for me whenever I saw them at retail.

Yep no surprises here. had to get BA Faker on ebay after the short lived TRU.com sale which burned a lot of people. They cancelled the line right after announcing three more 2 packs, how silly. These sets have been made and packaged so they should end up somewhere. I wouldn't hold out on BA Faker though. It's a sweet fig.
