I know it's been done a lot, but since Hasbro doesn't have him on the radar yet, and I likes me some Dark Avengers, I proudly present my fourth MU custom! There was way more sculpting with this guy than I have ever done before, and some things didn't quite come out as I had hoped, but all in all I am happy with how he turned out. The whole figure was a total repaint too. As always your feedback and comments are more than welcome.
Here are some basic front and back shots as well as a shot of his accessories: And here are some WIP shots: The recipe for this guy is as follows: Head - UFC Tito Ortiz Body and Upper Legs - SW Absorbing Man. Lots of added sculpting Lower Legs - Modern Thor with the ribbons cut off the boots and the spikes sculpted on Left Hand - Modern Thor Helmet - Three different Star Wars helmets and a lot of sculpting. And some action shots: And a couple of side shots: Thanks for looking!

Nice custom.how did you deal with the paint from rubbing off in the joint areas? Did you just sand down the left arm?

I sanded the joints a little and then did several thin layers of paint on the joint over a good spray primer, moving the joints after one layer had dried and before applying another layer. I also got the joint areas really good with an extra coat of sealer. Even with all of that, there is still some small paint rub going on in some areas, but nothing terribly noticeable.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about the face? (Let's see if it's the same thing I don't like about it).

For me it is the eyes, also the fact it is Tito Ortiz ruins it for me too. Lol still an awsome figure though!

It looks too smooth and shiney on his head- like paint! Maybe take a stiff squared brush and drybrush in some black with acrylic paint. Let it dry, then hit the whole thing with dullcoat- that dooes wonders for a fig- even non-customs- to make skin and costumes look more real- takes that plastic shine right the hell off. Maybe tone down the "mascara" on his eyes too- that's a bit much there... But dont think I dont really love it! It looks great- just acouple of tweaks to perfection! |

Great feedback guys! I agree that the eyes are a problem. I was trying out some new things to try and give the face more personality and also to have more of a shaded dark effect around the eyes when the helmet is on, but obviously it didn't come off quite right.
Jason, what matte sealer are you using? I'm using Krylon clear matte sealer and it is still leaving some shine.

LOL, thanks man. Just the cost of all the parts on this thing makes me never want to make another one again! Stupid hard to find StarWars heads...
