Dive Bomber version
MU Version The Dive Bomber version from the Spiderman line doesn't have as much articulation, but the figure itself is a more solid mold and it can stand on its own (the MU version had to lean against Loki so that I could take a picture). I like the pumpkin bomb and glider from the MU version more, but I'd lean toward buying the Spiderman version if anyone is looking to pick up one of these guys to display. What do you think? |

I've yet to take the plunge on the dive bomber goblin myself, but I always find myself checking him out at the stores. But Hasbro must be joking thinking that MU goblin cuts the mustard. HE CAN'T EVEN STAND ON HIS OWN! So I totally get you there DFD, just check out the pics from the link in my sig, all three of my goblin figs are leaning on their gliders.

I got both of these the same week due to the Supercharge/Giftcard Promotion and a Target clearance. The bomb and glider of the MU version is better, and I gave it to my SM version. His satchel went to The Panther. |

So, side note anyone have thoughts on the Spidey line's Hobgoblin? And where the hell is the Demogoblin, for that matter?

I vote neither, the reasoning is that legends showdown goblin can be had for super cheap, looks amazing and fits super well into iconic goblin poses. If you would like pics i have some!

I agree with 100%. Even though the SM version doesn't have the articulation the MU one has, it is a much better sculpt. Most collectors will swear the MU fig is better just because higher articulation point numbers is all they see. Most people have no real skill in judging a toy.
I simply choose based on which I prefer, skills be damned! Anyway, I think this argument needs the non-repaint MU Goblin in the lighter green. I think the lighter green, original MU Goblin, just looks sharper. As for the Spidey line Goblin. I have it and the Hobgoblin and I find the heads are a little too big and a little too goofy. Of all the 3.75" Goblins out there my recommendation would be to go find the SHS Goblin. He kicks the other three choices in the @ss. Baring that, I would select the MU Goblin, then the repaint, then the Spidey line. But too each his own. And for the record, this has nothing to do with the articulation. I am speaking pure mold here. |

It's all a matter of personal taste, really. In all honesty, I don't think I've ever bothered to try to display my Goblins without their gliders. It's just such an integral part of his character. So the MU version's inability to stand on his own really doesn't matter to me. I will say I prefer the Dive Bomber's color scheme, but I like the sculpt on the MU version more.

You know, you're not going to make many friends with that kind of hyperbole. Basically, you just inferred that anyone who doesn't agree with you doesn't know what they're talking about and that it's silly to include articulation as a factor for judging an action figure. And I hope you realize there is no right or wrong when it comes to opinion.

Thanks for the comparison pics. I had been wondering if I should pick up the dive bomber or the other single carded MU Green Goblin.
I like the sculpt a little better on the target 2 pack Green Goblin but im not crazy about that shiny green color. I kind of like the dive bomber color better. As far as articulation, its really not a big deal to me as all of my figures usually stand on their own and are not in action shots. If I was to pose them and create action shots then I guess i'd care but at this point I dont. Let the pot stir after that unneccessary comment about most people not having the skill to judge toys, haha thats a clowns statement in my book. |

Well perhaps I am most people when it comes to a lack of skill but I wholly choose the MU Goblin. My skills, o' wise one, must be lacking.

Black Goblin custom (SHS Punisher body and SHS Goblin head), Custom HG and MU HobGoblin. MU Gob, MU Repaint, SHS Gob. Black Gob and HG customs. Last edited by boombatty; 04-29-2011 at 09:27 AM.. |

Oh man I forgot how sweet that SHS goblin looked. The joints on mine had all become so loose I just put him away with the few other SHS I have.

Wow.

And I hope you realize there is no right or wrong when it comes to opinion. So, admit it; a lot of collectors opinions are so far off you gotta wonder. It does make you facepalm when someone gets on a board and states the entire XMO line "looked like crappy Happy Meal toys" because all the comic version Wolverines were "too small". "That's why all the MU versions are so much better". Or someone that insists that a ball-jointed knee is only a single joint. I guess that last one isn't an opinion, it's just wrong. That's what I've had to put up with lately. With that, my opinion on the two Green Goblin figs still stand, and I stand by my comments made in my initial post. I never mean to offend, but I don't yield to the possibility that a milksop may reading either. Last edited by Colder Soldier; 04-29-2011 at 06:58 PM.. |

I honestly don't think the comment made by Cold Soldier was meant to offend anyone on this board, he just agreed that the Dive Bomber figure was a better choice and was trying to give a compliment. Let's play nice people, he was just giving an opinion after all. That said, we should go back to the real issue: Green Goblin. Its a cool character and my nerd rage goes crazy when I think about how artistically inapt or functionally unsound Hasbro's figures can be when it comes to design and quality.

I recently picked up the original Green Goblin MU, seen him on the pegs for months, never owned him but never felt compelled to get him. Next to Venom and Carnage he's probably my favorite spiderman villian but the figure just isn't that appealing, I seen the 2pack version as well but passed on it, I grabed 3 of the black ninja packs instead, and 1 of the black panter pack, should of grabbed that punisher while I was at it.
