With the news of THQ dropping the ball on the Avengers video game, what are yall's thoughts on that?

Personally we saw a wile back where MARVEL acquired the rights to incorporate the Secret Wars storyline into a video game.
Many have speculated that this would probably end up becoming "MARVEL Ultimate Alliance 3".

I feel like to keep the curse of the "movie video game" away from the The Avengers, MARVEL should go on with making MUA 3 but incorporate elements from the movie such as:

1. Making it possible to use costumes from the MARVEL Studios films with certain respective characters that have been or will be portrayed in the movies.

2. Giving certain little bonuses by using certain team rosters that were or will be incorporated in the Avengers movie. (MP/HP boost or etc.)

Any other ideas or facts for this?
I'm all ears!
Can't wait for Summer of May 2012!!!

I've given up hope on all video games based off of movies. Can anyone post any games that were really good that were based off a movie? They are normally pretty terrible and therefore I wasnt interested in the Avengers game at all in the first place.

this is news to me. i thought they were going to be doing a game for the movie as standard.

i actually mainly enjoyed the Thor game apart from how tedius the boss battles could be and how hard they were, even on easy mode. other than that i thought it was visually good and fun in places. the cap game was good only for the combat.

i dont know how they would make anything fresh for an avengers game. we have seen all the characters in their own games so im not sure what else they could offer apart from having them in one game. and as the solo games got such terrible reviews (well thor in particular) will people really be excited by an avengers game???

like omega says. most people have given up hope on movie games. 9 times out of 10 they are really really poor.

maybe they could incorporate it into MUA 3 or something like suggested above. the movie costumes idea would be cool.

either way, im excited for avengers figures. but really not the game IF they were making one.

Here are some of the sources I remember where I pulled my info from regarding the two games.

The THQ Avengers game. (By the way, as will see, it was probably not soely based on The Avengers movie.)
: Test Footage & Concept Art From Delayed Video Game Adaptation Of The Avengers!

And here is the Secret Wars license info from some time back.
: Is Marvel plotting a Secret Wars video game? | Robot 6 @ Comic Book Resources – Covering Comic Book News and Entertainment

Whatever the case may be, MARVEL/ Disney has an "ACE" in the hole and will probably blow all of our minds away!

Make mine MARVEL!!!

I liked the game for Wolverine: Origins. But there have been other movie based games that I didn't care for and wished I didn't buy. Iron Man for PS3 for starters.

That's why I never buy movie games. They are always "rentals" for me. So sad that most of my Blockbusters are closing because of Red Box. And yes I know Red Box lets you rent games now. But have you seen their collection?

I'm with omega on this one. Video games based on movies seem to be designed purely to look great in the commercials, and then tend to be pretty meh when you actually play them.

The first Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is still one of my all time favorite video games though so I would be all for a MUA 3.

i would like an MUA 3 it would be nice to have every charcter in the universe though , so hopefulyy they will work on something big like , that , if you have mua 1 on pc you can get mods , from marvelmods.com but you need to sign up , although it get boring playing the same mission again :L so hopefully the will do a sercet invasion story line , also i think they should continue with ideas they put in the first one (the watchers end of time vesion near end of credits ) it would be nice to face galactus or thanos , but i hope they make an new one as soon as possible.

They definitly need to do another but make it more like the 1st one which was a lot better than the 2nd content wise , I did love the graphics and the voice acting of the 2nd if they could somehow combine this it would be awesome

Here's my thoughts on the topic of marvel games. I loved M:UA 1 and 2 so by default I would love another marvel game based on the multiplayer team beat 'em up scheme.

If, FUBLU, your rumour about Secret War being the basis of M:UA 3 came to fruition though would we be expecting a game faithful to the 80's storyline? Or even the 80's art direction? Or perhaps should they lean towards re-telling Secret War with modern characters and storytelling? What do we all think?

I honestly think the latter is more likely.

Never could put my finger on it but, dude you're dead on!
I LOVED MUA 1 and when I played MUA 2 I was like,...."is this it?"
There were actually times I was fallin asleep playin the game.
Loved the graphics but, it was just something about that game that didn't complete me the way MUA did. (I say complete but, I was soooo hoping for a sequel. lol)

With The Avengers due this coming summer, I can't seem to get enough MARVEL and I'm gettin tired of playing MUA on PSP, reading all my books, viewing all my animated movies, re-posing all my MARVEL Universe collection, and spending all my free time viewing and postin on this site! lol

I'm like a Crackhead. I NEED MY MARVEL FIX NOW!!!

Personally, I would prefer modern bookends to this game.
I hope that for those who would like to stay true to the source material, they give the option of allowing players to place characters in their respective 80's costumes.

As I have addressed earlier, If the option is available, I plan to use as many characters from the movie and have them in their costumes from the film.

Wishful Roster:
Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Hulk/Black Widow (If Hulk is a playable character)
#1 sub: Hawkeye

All this would really depend on the mission and how the game plays.
Wishful thinking.

I was also disappointed in the MUA 2 game. I got it for Xmas on Nintendo Wii. There is no online part on Wii. It is like Activision only finished half of it.
I loved MUA. I got it for PC. Lots of cool mods to give you other characters. So I was really pissed off when they said they weren't going to do 2 for PC.
I won't get any more Marvel games unless they are gifts.

Just found this news online: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ARMAGEDDON/news/?a=45820

I still believe MARVEL's gonna kill two birds with one stone and make MARVEL Ultimate Alliance 3 (Secret Wars) with some elements from the movie added to the game.

Quoted for truth. Wolverine: Origins uncaged edition was probably the first time I played a movie game that was not only good (Spiderman 2 was also good) but actually was better than the movie it was actually based off of. Sure there was a lava monster and some huge mutant retards that shouldn't have been in the game...but quick kills and death lunges are a guilty pleasure I still do not tire of.

Can we get a comic based sequel in this format with some upgrades?

Well folks, didn't realize they took the footage down.
I downloaded the footage on to my phone but have no idea as to how to put it on here.

For those still curious, it looked as if this was gonna be a first person shooter game. (yes, even for HULK!?!)

It looked as if when ever one completes a special or finishing move, the screen would change to show 3rd person view of whatever the character was doing. (Cap jumping a Skrull soldier and taking its own gun to fire on him. Hulk putting a Skrull in a choke hold to eventually break his neck!)

I kid you not, this is what was shown and it looked pretty intense enough to try... and this wasn't even a finished product.

Marvel seems to be dumb as far as games...X-Men Destiny over X-Men Legends III? fail!!! X-Men Destiny looks like crap... most of the Marvel movie games are crap imo, they be smart to stick with Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

i would like one , espically if its all like the previous games , and on all platforms , but i wont get it unless it has at least a proper amry of marvel superheros at our disposal and can customize teams more , i.e more characters in the team like instead of 10 ( i think) in your team it should have the amount of both avenger lines , (west coast, and orginal or ultimate avengers) it should have a layout like justiceleagueheros ( good game like mua ,but with dc characters also had great way of setting up stats i.e you could adjust the damage of each power and the power duration.) it will need a very good story line to it, the gameplay should change to third person , i.e we should be able to see our characters better , instead of and angle where their nearly birds eye view. i have the 1st mua on my pc modded which is better than the original characters although its up setting that nobody has found away to increase the character numbers. i dont miss any of the original , but i wouldnt mind if we could have every single character from each team, this will take a lot of time but if it does it will be worth playing and waiting for in my opioion.

I liked the FPS video that leaked of the THQ game, but do kind of question the 'splat' finishers. I guess it is an alien war(war being a time not to 'play nice'), but it just feels far more inhumane than what you'd expect from 'heroes'.

I hope whatever direction they go for the actual game isn't just a rehash of ultimate alliance though. I'd like to see some variety out there game-wise. If I want ultimate alliance, I'll play the ultimate alliance series.

EDIT
After the above link, now I'm worried the game is going to be rushed and just churned out for a movie. Haven't they learned when you have a low turnover like that, the game usually ends up bad or just cookie cutter from a different game with new models?

I believe The Secret Wars licence will be (or is being) used to make an Ultimate Alliance Game to come out around the time The Avengers comes out.

I hope MARVEL will be smart and use this time wisely and find another studio (If not create their own) and simply make a NEW and unique Avengers game for release some time around October or Winter of 2012.

I liked the idea someone else had with releasing the game with The Avengers DVD as well! (especially if they take the route of pushing out a rushed cookie cut product.

Just had another thought...
I would like to see an open world game with the option of having 4 Avengers (out of SEVERAL to choose from) take on different MARVEL enemies. There could be like a map of the world and you could choose to take on different missions as the game progresses.
One could remain in New York and stop on Norman Osborn's plans from making the Dark Avengers the toast of the town.

Travel to silicon valley to aide Dr. Pym and face Ultron and his make shift "Skynet" before it grows into a massive problem.

Take a Quinjet to Las Vegas to prevent Red Skull and Hydra from blowing up Caesars Palace while the President is there watching a major boxing match.

Head to Chicago to prevent A.I.M. and The Mandarin from collaborating on a deal to bring massive destruction.

Take a trip to Asia and stop "The Hand" from a major assassination.

Find a portal from Germany to Asgard and prevent Loki from trying to rule the 9 realms.

Eventually one could end up in Latveria to take on Doctor Doom only for him to enlighten you that the real threat is intergalactic and have you rush to Houston to be transported to space to take on the Kree & Skrulls to eventually have you battle with THANOS in the end!

Of course within all of this one could explore the areas and do small missions along the way.

I know something this massive would take years to prepare for and make but, I'd be willing to wait if it's done on the scale of a GTA or something of that nature.
