I don't have any 1/4 scale figures because they take up so much space and my wallet would cry for it, but damn this looks too good to pass. I may get one.

Cool, but will it actually be 1/4 scale? or 18" like their "1/4 scale" Master Chief?

Master Chief hasn't come out yet so it could be more than 18". This Big Chap though does look a good bit more than 18" if you note that the Alien Queen behind it is dwarfed and that stands at around 15".

I've wondered that but I can't say for sure. The box is 17"X13"X6.5" but she is kinda crunched for that so I'd say that normal standing height is around 15" and she'd be even taller when leaning back and up as seen in that one production shot we got from NECA via Twitter. The Predator 1/4 scale figures stand at around 20" putting them taller than other 1/4 scale figures as they should be, so I'd say then that Big Chap should be even taller than those figures and maybe Master Chief will be taller than 18" as well. Some of their other lines do advertise figures as certain sizes but then the figure comes out taller or shorter, like how pretty much every human male figure is listed as being 7" but always turns out to be just above 6.75". It's hard to say without having one in hand or seeing somebody else show you in a picture.

Nice that they snuck in the AVP head too. This looks like the best Big Chap toy ever made.

I just realized that the first pic, the one where it's doing the hug/pray/curl pose, is actually a warrior alien from Aliens. That isn't the skull under the dome we see it's the warrior ridging, it also has the warrior design's feet, hands, and the forearm fin things. So it looks like we'll be getting a new 1/4 scale Big Chap and warrior alien, neat stuff.

The first ALIEN 1/4 scale figure from 2008 was 22" high. This figure will also be that tall, making it in proper scale with any 18" human. My 2008 version was stolen, so I am very excited to have this new, more accurate, and more articulated version of the Big Chap. Also, the first picture is NOT a warrior. It is simply the Big Chap with the clear dome piece removed. I'm sure it will be integrated and not removable on the final toy. Well, that's how NECA has always done it to this point anyway.

Heads up on this figure, there appears to be an unannounced variant out their.
I just picked mine up and it has curled lips exposing the teeth and an open inner jaw. The "regular" version (the one that has always been shown in product photos) has the lips covering the teeth and a closed inner mouth Last edited by name; 12-16-2015 at 05:05 PM.. |
