When they said we we're getting an Aliens two pack i guess it would be Gorman/Burke. We got Burke and an Alien so i am happy enough with that. That being said, there is one more figure to reveal and they've mentioned that it will be a game changer. Also noting that between the two pack and the single reveal at SDCC there were "some" new characters. Unless they count the warrior variation as a new character that leaves us with one more surprise.
They have also noted that the final reveal is a game changer. My guess would be either a marine (please be Drake) or a Kenner inspired marine sans actors likeness i.e. Apone. If it is Apone i just hope he is packed with a second head in an alternative expression allowing us to pick up an extra windrix and give him a more movie accurate appearance. |

I'm really digging this set a lot. I was hoping for a Burke figure. I do wish that he came with an additional neutral head sculpt as I'm not completely sold on the look of his expression even though the likeness is there.
I'm also not fond of how they repurposed the legs from the original Ultimate Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy. I always thought the legs were too short on that Freddy figure plus there is an awkward gap at the crotch piece that always looks off in nearly any pose and I think the same is true for this Burke figure especially when you look at how long his arms and torso are in comparison to the length of the legs he just comes across as a little dumpy/ baggy. I get that re-use makes new tooling for molds/ sculpts possible, but it would have be nice to get a new pair of legs sculpted for and proportioned correctly specifically for this figure instead of the Ultimate NOES 1 Freddy legs. But that's enough nitpicking. I'm otherwise really excited to add this one into the collection. |

BTW, if we finally got Burke then I'm not giving up hope on a Predator 2 Mike Harrigan figure. Danny Glover ruled in that movie.

I think the problem with that one is that it's equal parts they don't want to do it and having no likeness rights.

Plus you could easily squeeze at least three different versions out of a newly sculpted Harrigan body to get all of his different looks from the movie. Just look at how their accessory packs and human figures are doing. In the past NECA would have said these were near impossible or that there wasn't a large enough market to support them. Now their singing a different tune. I just find it hard to believe that a Harrigan figure doesn't have at LEAST as much appeal/ potential as a Burke figure... Here's to hoping. |

I think NECA is seriously underestimating the potential that a Danny Glover Mike Harrigan figure has. I think that the cult following the character has garnered and the fact that a lot of people love and have the City Hunter Predator would make him an instant buy just out of of principle.

Besides, without a Harrigan figure how the hell will I ever re-create this scene? |

We can say it will sell all we want. But none of us has to do the real market research, has to deal with the actor and/or his agent or has to pay the likeness right. It may not even be about if it will sell. It may be about if it would sell enough to justify the cost to get Glover's likeness and the new tooling involved.
There are a ton of factors that go into this beyond that. Does he even want to allow it in the first place. There are people out there who simply don't want merchandise of themselves.

Glover's been reduced to bit parts in movies like Monster Trucks. Surely he could use the money....

I do love it when actors are cast against type. Danny Glover is a very talented actor, but aside from his role in The Color Purple, he's generally well-known for playing fairly nice, straight-laced guys in most of his movies. Glover playing a scary, out-of-control, loose cannon cop with a bad attitude in Predator 2 - while still being able to display a great deal of charisma at the same time - is one of the many reasons that movie, while not as good as the original Predator, is nonetheless waaaay underrated.
In addition, the design of the City Hunter and his weapons is an improvement over the Jungle Hunter, the movie is very fast-paced, and the actions scenes are great. Plus, it adds to the Predator mythos in incredibility significant ways...after all, the AvP games, comics, and figures probably wouldn't exist without that infamous trophy case scene (forget the shitty AvP movies, however). It may be cheesy in parts and some of the characters are half-retarded, but I'll always love me some Predator 2. Last edited by Dolemite; 06-30-2017 at 06:22 PM.. |

The design of City Hunter being better is debatable, I prefer Jungle Hunter myself. City Hunter's arsenal is a definite upgrade though compared to the bare-bones set of weapons used by JH.

The first issue of the AVP comics was published in June of 1990, five months before Predator 2 released. I seem to recall seeing/hearing somewhere that those first issues of the comic are what prompted them to include the Alien skull in Predator 2. So it's Dark Horse's comics that are responsible for launching the AVP-verse. It actually goes farther back than the AVP comics too since the concept was introduced in Dark Horse Presents #36 which was released in January of 1990.

And on a lil "yes i have too much useless info in my brain" tidbit most of the predators that showed up around harrigan at the end were la lakers players.

Except for Greyback who was Kevin Peter Hall back in the original costume (touched up of course to be the new, older character).
