Yes, they made the original puppet mostly blue with some brown "bone" bits. It worked better with the lighting of the set and comes off more royal than the brown used for the warrior suits. Though NECA also has the blue warriors which will probably look better with this.

I have been waiting forever for a Hot Toys Queen Alien... ever since they did the Ripley with power loader. I guess this NECA will be the closest we get to it until HT gets it together.

I feel like hot toys messed up on Ripley's hair. A hot toys queen would have to be like the size of a dog, wouldn't it?

They made blue and brown warriors both. And the Alien Queen was blue tones in the movie, she is color accurate to what was physically on set ( Check out the Sci Fi Museum in Seattle, they have a full size Queen replica in there) For me, The blue aliens are Warriors that fight and protect the hive, and the brown ones are Drones that assist the Queen and maintain the hive. Someone has to place all those eggs that are more than 10 feet from the Queen. The Black and Red Aliens are special cases. Or if you go with the theory that Aliens take on the characteristics of their host animal, like the dog alien in part 3, then maybe the colors are from different ethnicity hosts.

Too bad she doesn't come with any eggs.

It's not just fan-fiction, it was published, shitty as it may be (I've never bothered to read any of the comics besides the original AVP but let's agree that Genocide is shitty for the sake of the argument). They were brown for the suits used in the film, and they were blue in many scenes due to lighting, but the comics also used blue a lot for the warriors so there's that. I've still always thought that they were all supposed to be black or something like that though, in terms of the way they are normally, since Big Chap was pretty much just black with bronze hues. Either way both the blue and brown warrior toys from NECA are great and both should go fine with the queen.

I like to make up stories and continuity for myself to justify putting things on the shelf together. Just something I do. Like saying the SW Black series Prototype Boba Fett is a Stormtrooper Commander for the Classics Troopers. Or buy saying the Batman Dead End Predators are part of the same clan as the Predators in the Kenner style. It is just something I do :-)
And I have read almost every Aliens and Predator comics Dark Horse has put out since 1990 and most of the time they make the aliens black , highlighted in blue to show lighting effects, the same way they do a lot for batman. Last edited by Phantomcrow; 10-24-2014 at 11:59 PM.. |

I think Sorrow Bringer thinks that it comes with the diorama base display we've seen at SDCC and NYCC. It doesn't though, it has a support rod base thing similar to what Henrietta came with in the Evil Dead 2 line.

I do that with my Marvel stuff "why are these guys all together like this?" kinda thing. I can't reasonably do it with my NECA stuff, how did all the Pacific Rim titans and Godzilla get as big as people? Why is the Pyro from TF2 next to normal looking things? Why is Robocop cel-shaded but no one else is?
Yeah, some stuff does not fit together on a shelf, that is why there are other shelves , HAHA :-) |

Wait, you mean the background in the fifth pic does not come with her? Then why show it?

So far as I know she doesn't come with a diorama base, maybe they're just showing that those are the pictures used for the cardboard on the inside of the box? Honestly we can't know until it's available and people can open them and tell us for sure.

Well that sucks, I was really hoping she would have come with something cool like that given her price tag. What does the stand she come with look like? Or does she no longer come with one?

She still has a stand/base the back o' the box states so, but I'm pretty sure it's the stand used at NYCC which was a rod into a clear "V" shaped base to help her stand. Kind of like how the dog alien will have a clear circular base with an armature to assist in different running poses. When you look at the queen's dimensions it is larger than the size of a 1/4 scale figure so that may be the price comparison they used to reason her msrp.
