These look awesome. The only one I have so far is their Godzilla b/c I'm a Godzilla fan. If they start doing video game only figures, I'll be really interested.
I wonder what the hidden item was, maybe the weapons capsule? |

It was the weapons capsule. Was hidden, very well, in the AvP diorama at SDCC. I still can't spot it. Only know because Randy told me when we visited the studio.

these are great, well done, NECA..
it gets me wondering, since NECA are clever with the nostalgia stuff and they seem to have a relationship with Konami, if we'll end up getting a NES solid snake using retooled Michael Biehn parts.. |

They've said no to Metal Gear recently. They aren't a fan of working with Kojima and the Japanese game companies don't grasp the nostalgia angle with these. Plus, took them over 2 years to get approval for this. They've basically been ready for production since 2012/2013.

This is really ingenious by NECA. Besides the obvious similarities to Rambo and Dutch on the original NES box art, the last level of Super C was basically a hive straight out of Aliens, complete with xenos, facehuggers, and giant chestbursters.
You don't even need to get new creatures for them to battle against, just stick them right in there with Ripley and the Marines...lol. |

Damn, six year old me just had a great day! I cannot wait for these to drop. Oh man! I wish they could get the license to do Capcom or SNK stuff. Rad!
As for Metal Gear, they won't have to worry about working with Kojima, as he is no longer a part of Konami.

Unless Konami themselves just keep up the Japanese companies only policy or Kojima was sure to keep licensing rights.

I'm going to break everyone's hearts; their pants are the wrong colors. The blonde one (Bill) should have blue pants. He was the P1 character and when you played single player you had blue pants.
Also, their headbands should both be red. |

On the original NES version they both just had brownish/red head-tops and their respective pants, you couldn't make out their hair color unless you assume both have brown/red hair. It wasn't until later that blue pants was attached to blonde hair but on the NES version neither was detailed enough to say that either even had hair beyond what the box depicted.

I LOVE how NECA listens to what their fans want and then do their damnedest to release those figures !!!
A few years ago, SOOOO many people (even here at the Ark, if I remember correctly) were clamoring for Contra figures, after a lot of customizers were creating Bill and Lance figures out of NECA's Stallone and Schwarzenegger figures. And NECA listened ! And followed through ! I recently gave this game a replay, after not playing it for nearly 25 years, and it's still hard AF, even with that cheat code. I'm still shocked that my Dad and I were able to finish the game, SOOOO many years ago, when I was so young, while these days, I can barely even clear the first few levels !

OH MY GOOODDDDDDDDDDD
Seriously, these Contra figures are AWESOME. I've been on the fence about NECA's videogame figures...some are great (Robocop Vs. Terminator, Predator 2, etc) while some are horrible (that freaking green Leatherface being the worst), but Contra figures, with the spread-shot guns and everything? Hell yes, please. BTW, the re-use of the Dutch and Rambo figures not only works perfectly, but it's ironically very appropriate as well, considering the fact that Konami was *ahem* "inspired" by these two action icons when it came to creating Contra's cover art back in the day. The American version's art was quite clearly ripped directly from Predator: And let's not even get started on the Japanese cover (lol): Last edited by Dolemite; 12-04-2015 at 08:07 AM.. |

I was going to say the exact same thing, until I read this: Quote:

And damn! En Sabah Nerd is right! Still, for some reason I always associated player one (blue pants) with the blonde character. Probably because he was always featured more prominently on the box art and opening screen of the game. Even though you could argue that the colors could go either way, for some reason I feel like the blonde guy should be in the blue pants. |

I hate the flesh paint though.
I know they're trying to simulate the 8-bit pixel color, but you don't need that, these are 3-D toys, the paintjob looks weird when you look at it sideway. I wish they'd just leave it without the ugly paint. |

I actually just read a tweet from NECA about the headbands saying,
"they're based on the original NES 8 bit version from early '88 where in-game both headbands appeared to be red in color. Konami asked that we keep one headband red and one blue so we obliged"

It's hilarious how many people on Twitter/Facebook are losing their minds with rage over the damn colors, like you said it'll be a very easy head swap if it offends them so much.
