I didn't see a NECA discussion thread so i thought I would put one on here. It is difficult bouncing around to find NECA information. Maybe we can get a thread that discusses NECA properties in general.
NECA announced that they have additions to current properties to announce this week and next along with a new property to announce next week. Any guesses what they could be? Last edited by Bearjew; 10-24-2018 at 05:48 PM.. |

Just ask him to make a certain oft-requested figure, pull his string and you'll hear one of three REAL RANDY FALK phrases!!! "Too niche" "Too expensive" And everyone's favorite: "No." (Coming Q3 2027)

Maybe he should expand his "No" vocabulary.

I’m definitely a signed up member of the NECA fan club. Gremlins, Jason, Aliens, ED-209, Freddy... I absolutely love their stuff.
The Thing would be great, but Randy has confirmed yet again that it’s not happening. Personally I’d love them to do Buffy the Vampire Stuff. If they were interested and could sort out licenses I’d say there’s almost unlimited possibilities. I’d buy every single figure. Intriguing to see what they do next for Jason. Got a feeling it will be Part 8 or one of the Jason X versions. I suspect Part 7 will be their last. An ultimate Freddy v Jason Jason would be great too. |

I hope they do that Neelix looking guy from Brainscan.
Sorry, those references were sincerely shit. |

I have a feeling after Roy, we'll most likely see either a Pamela, FvJ, or a Reboot Jason. They already have molds for these figures, so it wouldn't be hard to tweak them a bit into something more articulated much like they did with the recent Part 2 Jason. We'll get a Jason wearing a Lakers #23 jersey before we get a part 7 if Neca has their way. Just saying. |

So looks like the new property Randy was teasing was The Nun... Wow, thanks NECA...
Honestly I'd rather they stop picking up stupid licenses like this and Valerian, save up their licensing budget and grab something they've been wanting to do for years but was too expensive to get the rights to. I'd be willing to see fewer releases if it meant more of what we actually request, and I can't imagine I'm the only one!

Their scattergun approach can work out for the best, when they do incredible niche stuff, but licensing issues aside, there’s no real logic at work. As you say, Valerian was an awful licence to go for. As much as I loved the new Blade Runner, I doubt those figures sold well either (oh yeah, I’m crying out for an old man Dekker). Essentially they’re gambling on one of these mediocre films being a smash hit. They have a solid market audience that lap up Jason, Alien, Predator, NoES, and probably Gremlins stuff. Focus on that! I’ve said before that I think Buffy by NECA would be incredible. Twin Peaks too. I’ve pretty much given up on The Thing and BTiLC as possibilities. I love NECA. They’ve given me some incredible stuff that I never expected, but I’ve not been impressed by their new licenses. Mass Effect! Give me that! Who the hell is buying The Nun figures? |

I’d buy a Nun figure, for sure.

Full reveal tomorrow.
Looks fantastic! I am super excited for this one. It is about time we got a more modern Jason figure. I am happy that we have all the older versions too but we have been needing more modern versions for a while. Not necessarily because the movies were goo but because some of the designs and concepts would make cool Jason figures. Last edited by Bearjew; 10-30-2018 at 06:16 AM.. |

NECA model seems to have shifted in terms of horror. I think they are kind of out of that game...it's just Freddy, Jason, Myers, Texas, and maybe if they get the chance Hellraiser. They seem to be going for franchises.....
They did say they would love to do puppet master...I love Puppet Master, but who knows...if they will. But NECA is a lost cause for anything beyond what is mentioned above I think. Those hoping for a company to make Horror, has to hope McFarlane can do it. I am pulling for something like Art the Clown from the Terrifier and the Killer Klowns....but those will NOT come from NECA. I'd breakdown for Hot Toys also....we need more The Lost Boys.... |

Ok Art the clown from terrifier would be a instant buy. But I think he’s to unknown or not big enough for Neca to make like you said. I don’t even think Mcfarlane would chance it with him.
Awesome pick up Tomax! They definitely need to rerelease him as a Neca ultimate figure. |

As a huge fan of Jason and the Alien franchise I’m very happy with NECA. Still hoping they’ll release some of the more ambitious designs for Gremlins (Greta is probably a step too far). Generally I don’t think they’re too bad at bringing out surprises. Captain Blake, Reanimator, Tim Curry Pennywise, even the Nun (not that I’ll be buying that one). It will be interesting to see what happens with NECA in the future, as they’re rapidly running out of Alien and Predator material, and at some point will have to finally deliver an ultimate Jason part 7. I suspect you’re right and that they’re moving away from the horror genre (with more of a focus on new films and sci fi in general). |

Randy has said that with video games, comic books, concept art, etc. both lines could easily double in size. For Predator that means another 100 figures. And, that wouldn't be including any upgraded releases like Wolf.

They’re releasing a ‘newborn’ soon. I’m a massive fan of the series, but even I’m thinking ‘really? when it comes to that figure. I get the feeling that they’re running out of options. I suspect the next Jason figure will be Uber Jason, as zombie Jason would require a more complex (and expensive) sculpt. |

Speaking of Neca doing figures from the comic books, was there ever anything more from Randy about the DC crossover figures? Last I heard, a while back, was they might be con exclusives but obviously that didn't end up happening this year.

Last he mentioned it (maybe a month ago), he said he hasn't given up hope. So, basically, no further news, but they aren't completely dead yet.
