Hell yes! I'd been waiting forever for Amok Time to get their 7" Herbert West figure out, but this is even better news.

Looks like they'll be Mego style figures. Makes a lot of sense. Much less risk since they can reuse existing body types.

It's a shame, but it's guaranteed that NECA's Herbert West will be 100x better than anything Amok Time would have put out, based on the early sample figures they displayed. The likeness on Amok Time's figure was 'eh' and the articulation was slated to be limited. On the other hand, you know NECA will totally nail this property. And that brings me to NECA...this announcement is a bit of a shocker, as I believe that people have asked Randy about Re-Animator before and he's always given the "it's too obscure" response. I guess he was just being coy? After all, they made a fucking Chop Top figure, lol. Anyway, this is fantastic news. I'm a huge Re-Animator/Herbert West/Jeffrey Combs fan, and with NECA doing the figures, you know they'll be amazing. I can't wait!! Wrote my response before I read this...still excited and will still buy the hell out of them, but I hope that this line sells well enough to perhaps lead to regular 7" figures as well. A new licensing team is now in charge of handling assorted licensing for the cult classic 1985 film Re-Animator. According to Licensing.biz, their first deal will be with NECA Toys to produce action figures from the iconic horror film!

This is awesome news, while I wish they would bring back the cult classics line, a clothed Herbert west figure will be awesome, in fact I will more than likely buy two, I haven't bought more than one of the same figure in a long time, but definitely going to want at least two reanimator figures for the collection.

I'm baffled by this, but NECA is no stranger to obscure licenses. That was pretty much what drew everyone's attention before they were big. Licenses like Donnie Darko, Lost Boys, Phantasm, Hellraiser, Boondocks Saints, etc. were part of the amazing Cult Classics Line.
These days, the more obscure licenses are peppered in, and almost every one of them are mego style figures as opposed to traditional 7". People at Horror conventions are going to eat these up. |

I do recall Randy saying it was "too niche". I suppose the MEGO style helps offset the cost, but he made it sound like there was no chance in any format because the audience wasn't there. But, I will buy these for sure. Maybe this opens the door to my most wished for figures ever, "Dead Alive"! ("Braindead" for the rest of the world) I'm making some customs right now from the movie, but I suck and would rather buy pro ones.
I look fondly on the good old days, when NECA churned out properties that were "niche" as all hell…Shaun of the Dead, Bubba Ho-Tep, American Psycho, Grindhouse, Lost Boys, Boondock Saints, heck, even House of 1000 Corpses & Devil's Rejects. |

Yeah, but that was back when they were putting out what were basically statues, which are a hell of a lot cheaper to make than the fully-articulated beauties they're putting out these days. Quality costs more, and higher costs mean that they can take fewer risks.

This is awesome.
More than likely 8 inch but still, I want these. Just wish Sota was able to release their West figure. Missing out on that beauty always pulls my heart strings. herbert-west by allen lamb, on Flickr

Yeah, the SOTA one. I was really looking forward to it. That line had a ton of potential.
